So funny! My mom called to say that that actress that won looked like "a rag"! Well, I have never even heard of her before so I know nothing about her. I think her dress was really ugly, but I think she can pull off the no make-up and not much hair pretty good.

Eric brought us home pizza from work right at 7:30 so I missed a lot of it so far. I did see Javier win cheers but I am taping. I will have to look for John Travolta.

I am glad Marion Cotillard won, but really wanted her to thank Edith Piaf for having existed in the first place. THe makeup people thanked neither Edith nor Marion. Maybe it is the French way.

I think Marion was in a wee bit of shock and she struggles with the language. Lots of these people regret later all the people they forgot to thank. I remember when Hillary Swank forgot to thank her hubby and apologized for days and thanked him in every interview afterwards. Of course now they are divorced Razz

DId I blink and miss best actor? THey are now doing clips of past Best Pictures.

Ah, no. Just weird sequence on their part.

Robert Boyle, the Honorary winner this year is in his 90s and facially appears to be in his 60s. Obviously his movements and speech are in their nineties, but the face? Geeze, will nobody get old anymore in Hollywood?

I thought his movements and speech was more like late 70's early 80's on a very good day! Incredibly posed, articulate man. Obviously very brilliant with good genetics!

Now that I know people in their 70s...ones that I did plays with when they were in their 40s...70s are kinda like the new 50s. But i will grant that the movements were 90s, the speech mid 80s.

in any case, except for the face (I am obviously very jealous of the ones with the dough to get the chins hiked up), I really enjoyed him.

YAY for the writer of Juno!

Yay for DDl and for the pal-ship of him and Helen Mirren.

YAY for the Coens for directing and winning Best Picture for No Country for Old Men. It is so very odd and so weirdly poetic.

This was a pretty good year! I am happy for DDL - very happy, but I did feel a little sad for Johnny Depp Crying or Very sad He so deserves to win an Oscar. Such a good year for the Coens. I am sure Aerwin is dancing all over her house!!

Johnny will win one one of these days.

I do have to admit that each time I see the clips and he sings in kind of a puny voice for Sweeney Todd, I am put off. Maybe I am just too much of a fan of the music.

On the other hand, I just finished watching Gone Baby Gone. Even running it intermittently while I watched the Oscars, I have to say that it is almost fabulous. The thing that makes it not fabulous is a major role played by a cute actress, Michelle Monaghan, who is just cute and kinda TV. She ruins the momentum of every scene she is in by not bringing the human goods.

But the movie made me a fan, for the second time today, of Casey Affleck, and of Ben Affleck as a director.

Did anyone see Jon Stewart's opening monologue? I got the time mixed up and missed it and then snoozed through most of the show.....and now I'm awake....

I believe I saw his opening monologue, though I had heard the Director of the show claim that the shows opening was going to be amazing and not to be missed. I certainly did not see anything amazing, so maybe I missed it. WHat I did see, Jon was charming and funny enough but pretty low key.

Hey !! I loved it! I was so happy Marion won and Javier and DDL. Cate will win again. Tilda Swinton is marvelous. And the best part of all. We had an Oscar pool going and I won!! I won 80.00. I only missed two editing and cinematography. So I am the man. I also loved that the song from Once won. What a great sweet little movie.

I watched Gone Baby Gone last week and yes Casey Affleck is one to watch.

I thought Jon Sewart was fun.
