I am watching Henry V111 with Ray Winstone right now. He is more loke Henry in appearance I think , but I prefer JRM. Helena Bonham Carter is Anne. I wish I could find the Six Wives one ,netflix doesn't have it. I just finished Elizabeth by alison weir it was fuction. I throughly enjoyed it. I am alao getting ready to read Plain Jane by Lauren Gardnier. It is fiction about Jane Seymour. As you can see I never tire of this subject.

Sad to report that "The Tudors" was pretty much shut out of the Emmys. It got nods for casting and costumes but neither the show nor any of the actors got nominations. I was hoping for a nod for Jeremy Northam and Peter O'Toole myself.

That is too bad, but with so many channels and so many shows and so much great talent, it is so hard to be one of the few chosen for nominations. There were many good people and shows snubbed. Sad for those who didn't make the cut. They can only hope that next year might be different.

For me - Lauren Graham not ever getting nominated for Gilmore Girls is a crime!!!

Badger, that is really sad they did'nt get a single nomination because I think the Tudors is an artistic masterpiece, much better than Weeds and Entourage which I'm sure are both up for numerous awards. Sometimes I think so much of these awards are based on what actors and production teams are the most popular in behind the scenes circles and some kind of underground Hollywood political system .... No

I wish I was watching that now! TV is seriously boring lately except for the new season of Project Runway. Aerwin, would love to get a more detailed review of Elizabeth and Plain Jane if you get the urge!

I understand Ricky Gervais got a nod for the Extras Finale episode so I suppose there is some justice.

That is one of the few nominations I agree with. Ricky Gervais is a brilliant british comedian. He co created and starred in the original show The Office. His new show Extras recently aired on HBO. It is about the trials and tribulations of an extra actor. Some big name celebs have roles on the show. do yorself a favor and rent it. The episode with Orlando Bloom is absolutely hysterical. And David Bowie is in one!

There are only about 6 or 7 episodes per season so it shouldn't be a problem getting an entire season. I'm pretty sure Season 1 is available on DVD, but I'm not sure about the second season.

That was the brilliant Tudor thing of my era.

Anybody seen that? (for all I know you have already talked about that here.. so forgive me my shoddy board research if that is the case.

I saw the Glenda Jackson Elizabeth I series when it first aired on PBS back in the early 1970's. IIRC, they ran it right after "The Six Wives of Henry VIII". She also played Elizabeth in the movie Mary, Queen of Scots which starred Vanessa Redgrave.

Speaking of Ricky Gervais, he got a mention in PAGE SIX Sunday. Don't worry, it's nothing scandalous or gossipy:

Quote:
Ricky Gervais has had it with online idiocy, reports The Post's Mandy Stadtmiller. At Madison Square Garden's packed show at the WaMu Theater the other night, he joked: "The Internet must be the greatest resource of information the world has ever seen. And the online encyclopedias that you can change? You can't do that in a library, can you? There's all those Web sites as well, it's clogged up with Web sites, Web sites about themselves. 'My name is Rupert, this is my cat, I love The Cure, good night.' What the [bleep] - who cares?"

In her first major acting role, British soul singer Joss Stone will play Henry VIII's fourth wife, Anne of Cleves, in Showtime's drama "The Tudors."

The gig will likely be a brief one, as Anne was married to Henry (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) for about six months.

A daughter of a German nobleman, Anne was betrothed to Henry in a marriage treaty between the Cleves Court and the king's chancellor after Henry was shown a portrait of her.

Upon Anne's arrival in England, Henry was disappointed in her looks and soon found a legal way to have the marriage annulled.

According to Showtime, the upcoming season of the racy royal drama will follow the king as he weds Jane Seymour (Anita Briem) and then Anne of Cleves.

Joss Stone is not exactly "homely" Razz Too bad I don't get Showtime, I would love to see her in the role!

They have a new actress playing Jane Seymour this year too. I think her name is Annabella or Annabelle Wallis.
