American Idol Winner David Cook Teams With Grammy Winning Producer Rob Cavallo on Debut Album Due Out in Fall 2008
NEW YORK, Aug. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- American Idol winner David Cook has teamed up with Grammy winning producer Rob Cavallo on his debut album for 19 Recordings/RCA Records, due out this fall.
Cavallo, best known for his work with the legendary pop-punk band Green Day, has also produced records for superstar artists such as Kid Rock, Eric Clapton, My Chemical Romance, Goo Goo Dolls, and is working with the Dave Matthews Band on an upcoming release.
Cook has been busy in the studio when not on the road with the American Idols Live tour, co-writing many of the upcoming album tracks alongside some of music's hottest rock songwriters.
Earlier this summer Cook set the record for the most new entries by an artist in the 50-year history of the Hot 100, with 11 songs entering the chart dated June 7, 2008. That broke the record of six new entries in one week. Cook's 11 songs were led by "The Time of My Life," which debuted at No. 3, making it the highest new entry of 2008. "The Time of My Life" debuted at No 1 on two other charts, the Hot Digital Songs and the Hot Digital Tracks.
25 year-old David Cook hails from Blue Springs, Missouri.
And E Online has this little doozy
David Still Cooking on Album Release:
Quote: While no specific release date, save for the month, has been announced for Cook's debut, what is for sure is that this fall will mark yet another battle of the Davids, with Cook and Idol runner-up David Archuleta expected to drop their albums on the same day.
Oh. Um. Yay? |
Please tell me they are not going to release the CDs the same day to make it another Big David/Little David competition? |

| Not even remotely near the end of the opening ceremonies here yet, but what is TOML? How cool that a David Cook song is the headliner! ** So I googled "David Cook TOML"..and there were many links! But they all called it TOML with no translation. So let me guess: Tomatoes On My Lap Tongues On My Lips Tonight Only MY Lizard Tough Onions Mean Languishing Sigh. I am hopeless with initials.

| "Time of my Life" . That is David's hit single. The song he sang when he won Idol. It was used twice on So You Think You Can Dance, on that sports award show Justin Timberlake hosted and now the Olympics! He must be thrilled so many millions are hearing his song! |

| He is the first Idol since Kelly Clarkson who strikes me as a true pop-rock star (not that he won't also do other genres, too). Kelly got burned out, but I expect her to be back in some major form eventually. David Cook continues to seem like a pretty sane guy (though with execrable taste in women -- Kimberly Caldwell..is he still with her?...hopefully that will pass), and I think the saner people last the longest. Did DC have a hand in writing that? |
