| I didn't think it would be, but I LOVE dance music and I think he has put together a great collection of radio friendly and dance club music and he sounds fantastic on all the songs. I wish him much success with it. Ace turned down a couple of major labels because he wanted to do his own writing and arranging so he hooked up with Desmond Child and they are with an indie label. I say good for him for turning down the majors and sticking with what he wanted to do. I think he should be very proud of this CD. It is quite rare for me to like so many songs on one CD. I am usually happy with my purchase if I like 5 of the songs |

| Thanks for bringing that. From the comments I guess people do not think Chris is good enough to sing with those guys I am inching ever closer to getting Daughtry's CD. I LOVE his new song and that makes 5 songs I just love from the CD so I think it would be worth getting. I don't think he is anywhere near as appealing as DC, but the songs are really good. |

| I didn't read the comments. I guess I should! Obviously the other guys think he's good enough. I think he's good enough. No, he's not DC, but he certainly is one of the successful Idols. |

| Some news about Ace's first week on the charts with his new CD. This is from Ken Barnes' blog: | Quote: | | Speaking of welcome, this week we welcome a new addition to the chart -- making his first appearance, with his self-titled debut album, is the ninth Season 5 contestant to release a post-Idol album, Ace Young. He's at No. 160 this week, selling slightly more than 4,000 copies. |
4,000 - wow, that is a very low amount, especially for all the promo he got for this. |

| Lau, was Ace's album an indie release? It sure has taken a while to get it out. I think some of these people wait too long and the momentum they had when the show ended has cooled off, and rightly so. If you don't put anything out there for over a year or whatever... On a more successful note...I happenned to be channel surfing and heard the tail end of that Phil Stacey guy's (From last season?) performance on Grand Ole Opry radio. He sounded great and was very well received by the announcer and crowd. I always thought he had a very good, marketable voice and a very nice way about him. Does he have an album out yet?

| Sad about Ace's sales I really liked it when I heard it. I still plan to order it from Amazon. He has gone Indie Luca. He did that because he wanted to write his own music and the major labels (supposedly several offers) didn't want that. They wanted him to record pop songs (Ace is more R&B) written by established pop writers. I applaud him being true to himself and writing what HE wanted to sing and record. I don't think he wanted to be Bo'd He has gotten some on-line promo, but I have not seen squat about him or his CD in any form of main stream media. If I were not on-line I wouldn't have a clue Ace had a CD out. After 40 weeks on the country charts, Josh Gracin's single is Top 10 40 freaking weeks is all it took! |

| Note to Michael and Jason - as you work on those Indie releases... work FAST. Now, both these guys are much more talented than Ace ever thought of being, but still... |

Yes, they are.............I do think Jason will not waste time in getting his cd out. He has kept himself visible and personal with his fans. He has let them know he's working on songs and that he will be putting out a cd.
I'm still waiting for the Clark Brothers cd.........I thought it was to be June, but I haven't heard anything lately............ |

Like FC said above, it was indie; however, it was my understanding that he had some sort of a decent distribution deal. And his indie label wasn't a small one.
Good point about striking while the iron is hot. But when you go indie, you have to produce the CD when you have the money and the opportunity. |

So true! I think that is part of Elliott Yamin's success with his album. I don't know what the financial backing or arrangements were, but he was able to get an indie recording and distribution deal done within 6 months after leaving the AI tour. Those on AI start competing with the new crop six or seven months after the end of their tour.
Elton John has said that a recording artist or group has only about a 5-year window at the top or near top of their careers. I think nowdays, that window is much shorter with the internet and digital download capabilities on demand, as well as with all the reality shows and videos that continuously bring new talent to the forefront. There is a constant influx of new performers and entertainers. With the idols, most of them get at least get 6 months of fame and with the exception of Kelly C. and Carrie, even the winners, who are backed financially by major labels, have not sustained their "fame" for very long past their debut albums or have blockbuster sales of those albums. As an aside, I do think DC will join Kelly and Carrie as one of the successes. |

| I'd like to hear Clay singing and performing for many more years and I hope that happens. I just don't know what lies ahead for him since his last CD hasn't done well compared to his previous ones, including the one of covers. I love it, but his music gets very little radio play on AC stations and I can't imagine that he has a mentor at his label who can help him with that. That he doesn't write his own music will probably not help him in the long run. Michael Buble and Harry Connick, Jr. have the standards market cornered and Clay's cover album didn't exactly heat up the charts. I hope he gets a TV gig where he can showcase that quick wit of his. If he gets another role on Broadway, I'll probably try to catch it if I can. |

| I would love for Clay to have a long and very successful career, but I am damn worried about him. The last CD was a complete flop , even though I think it is by far his best work. Not only does he have the trouble with radio play but I think being a late night punchline hurts his career too. He is not being taken seriously as an artist at all. I completely agree that the lack of songwriting and playing an instrument hurts him in that department too. I don't see where it should though. What is wrong with someone's talent being just an incredible voice?! Yes, he needs a vehicle that showcases his amazing wit and acting abilities. I think in the 60s he would have had a hugely successful variety show! The boy was just born a little too late. Still, I am going to try to keep the faith that he gets the right opportunity to jump start his career again! He so belongs on the stage. |
