PostSubject: Re: Dolls   Mon Oct 08, 2007 4:08 pm

Hi!

It's two guitars = $34 worth and yes it has been a pain! Mad

I just got off the phone with our window company to get someone out here, as Eric's big bedroom window is stuck WIDE open and it is suppose to storm later affraid We paid all this money for these big crank out windows and we have had such problems with them. Right now besides Eric's, one of the ones in the master bedroom handle broke off in Rob's hand and one in the kitchen breakfast nook can't open. I called a month ago and left a voice message and no one called back. I was so busy with my dad I just put it off, but now that we have one that won't close I insisted someone get out here today. I told them about all the problems and no call back. I said their windows were crap! Actually, they look beautiful though Razz

Sounds like quite a productive day for you guys!! I got all the regular cleaning done. Nothing extra. Just vacuuming, bathrooms, wash floors and laundry. Boring!

So cool that you can sew for your dolls! Wish I could Crying or Very sad . I was at this site last night looking at BJDs. I found a site with a couple of 1/4 dolls that I really liked (I don't care for a lot of them that much for the money. At AOD yours is the only one I love) and at this site they come with eyes and make-up included in the price of $240. Don't know what shipping would be. Then add a wig and clothes. So maybe next Xmas. They offer a Layaway plan of 3 payments so you have 3 months to pay for it. Then they ship it. They take checks for that which would be great because Rob would much rather do that than put it on credit cards or Pay-pal. I don't think I would do it before next Xmas because if I am really pleased with my J-Doll there are a couple more of them I really feel I must have. Their faces are just so pretty! I would be thrilled to find them nude and just get nice Barbie clothes for them. I did a "Fashion Avenue" search on ebay last night and man there are a ton of gorgeous outfits out there for around $10! I never did a Fashion Avenue search, only Fashion Fever.

When I was looking at the nice outfits for the BJDs I saw some fantastic outfits, but yeah, big bucks. I fell in love with an outfit on ebay that was over $100 before shipping! So if you can sew your girl clothes that would be wonderful for you!!

Well, I have to get the oven fired up for to make pizzas for the kiddies!

Have a beautiful day!!

ETA: This is the girl I would get if I could get one now. Her name is Shoya. She is listed under "Doll Zone". Whatever that means.

This girl at AOD is pictured right under yours. She is $225 with eyes and make-up and I like her too, as long as she didn't come with red eyes!

That is what bugs me about this "random eyes" thing. For that money I would really like to pick my eyes because they are a HUGE part of the dolls appeal for me. If mine came with red eyes I would NOT be happy. I do not like red eyes at all. I would want blue, pink or gray or any combo of those. Brown would be OK I guess, but not my choice. Red - I would have to send it back. These types of dolls with red eyes look like they are demons Shocked

PostSubject: Re: Dolls   Mon Oct 08, 2007 6:33 pm

Hope they get back to you soon about the window before the storm comes! That could be a mess! What will you do if they don't get out there soon? Put plastic up? affraid

EEEEEK! I love Shoya! She has that special "it" quality that just grabs you!
Shipping is about 30-40.00 from what I hear on the BJD site. Dollzone dolls are really popular and many of the top brands sell out their new releases very quickly, never to be seen again, so layaway would be a good way to ensure you have one reserved. I know I will get you to come over to the BJD side eventually... Twisted Evil Wink

The pricing for the clothes is really interesting...there is really high stuff out there and some things that look really nice for 20-40.00. YOu should join the Den of Angels site to start checking out what people say about all the different lines of BJD's and to see what the community is like. It is kind of overwhelming at first, but very interesting! People really seem proud of their used clothes and stuff over there too!

I still like my Pullips, but when I look at Prudence and look at them, she is in a whole different league. She just has this special quality that is mezmerizing. The Pullips have it too, but BJD's have something special beyond that. I can't really put it into words yet either, but they are magical. All I can say is I highly recommend getting one someday, they are incredible. Looking at Prudence and looking at them, I have to say it has crossed my mind to get rid of most of them and move on into BJD'scompletely. Although I won't do anything rash like that because I still do like them. Maybe it is just the new doll love that has taken over and eventually my interest will come back to Pullips hot and heavy for a while.

Speaking of incredible...that first J-doll is just beautiful! What is her name?
Really seeing some good photos of them makes me full appreciate them! They are really great dolls! Love that Lebia one too! It is going to be fun to see your J-doll when she comes and you take some photos of her.

Where are you getting all the cool J-doll photos from?

Better get to work....but will check in again this afternoon!

This seems reasonable and would look awesome on Prudence don't you think?..

PostSubject: Re: Dolls   Mon Oct 08, 2007 7:22 pm

I don't know what I will do if the window isn't fixed before the storm. We only have 50% chance of rain tonight. I will have to see what it is for tomorrow. The guys are working on a job in Indiana right now. Not sure when/if they will make it. We have plastic wrap. Hubby will have to get/figure out what else to do. Eric's computer desk is right there at the window. His PC, server, printer, all of it. It is a really nice and large set-up. His laptop is easy to move. What a pain to move everything else. He has a HUGE monitor!! It never ends does it?

I guess my thing with dolls is I really love the colorful ones. I like their faces to have color and their lips and a sparkle in their eyes. I know I have seen Luts that are really amazing - but oh so very expensive. I just don't know about the super white skin and pale lips etc. Some are really pretty and others just do nothing for me. Not when we are talking $300. I am going to have to be so incredible in love to spend that kind of money on one doll. I think the size is great and the body movements and expressive hands etc. I'm sure in person they are so much better, just like the Pullips. Would you really sell Bill, Tom and Caprice??

I found some pix of incredibly gorgeous dolls on Flickr. I have no idea what kind they are. I should bring over this one pic if I can find it again.

For me the faces of the J-Dolls are so pretty. I just don't know about the size. I know the body is the size of Pullips, so that is fine, but with the small head I fear I may find her too small. I hope not because the faces are just so beautiful.

Here is a link for some J-Doll photos.

http://flickr.com/groups/j-doll/pool/

I am going to go and hunt for that doll pic and bring it here!

Later~

ETA: Oh that outfit is lovely!!

OK, THIS face I would pay $300!! Man, if only I could look like this!! Razz

I don't know who makes her or what her name is, but I would love something like her! I just found her on Flickr under doll photography.

ETA: Oh this might be her! She starts at $605 Shocked

I adore these two also!! Again, $605 and up.

I know darn well I am never going to pay over $600 for one doll. I just can't see it. Then the clothes!! Holy moley!! I know I have spent a lot on the Pullips, but I got most of them nude at $50 a piece.(and most paid for with gift money from other people) We only paid a lot for my Haute - $120, and trust me I felt like I was nuts asking hubby to pay that much for one doll Embarassed I'm not saying these dolls are not gorgeous works of art, because they truly are, but man I saw dolls on sites today for over $1,000.00! I read on some site that there are dolls out there for $10,000.!! I hope they are made of gold with diamonds!! Razz Anyway, If I were super rich and more money than I knew what to do with I would get all of those girls up there. Too bad I don't have a wealthy aunt to put me in her will! Twisted Evil

AETA - the window guy came and fixed Eric's window! None to soon as it looks like it is about to pour! He is ordering new handles for two windows and getting a new tandem window for over one of our patio doors.

AAETA: Forgot to answer your question - that J-Doll is Vass. Safias. The J-Dolls are all named after famous streets. That is a street in Athens Greece with famous art galleries. The one I am getting, Old Arbat, is a street in Moscow where the big university is located.

Like I said on the previous page I want the one named for the famous street of shops in downtown Chicago where I used to hang out - Magnificent Mile! Just now VOTD put her on pre-order. She will come in Feb. 28th. I sooooo want to pre-order her, but I will wait and see what I think of "Old Arbat" before I order any more. I just hope her outfits arrive before she does!

PostSubject: Re: Dolls   Mon Oct 08, 2007 11:13 pm

Yippee about the window getting fixed! That would have been stressful to have to move everything and try to close it up somehow!

Yes, I hear ya about not being able to justify spending hundreds on dolls.
I don't think I will ever spend more than a few hundred myself. I also will buy and sell other dolls and things to pay for it too. I was surprized I was able to detach myself emotionally and sell Elektra when I needed to get some cash to get Prudence, but I was able to do it and feel good about it.
I know that may not be possible for you, so I hope you don't feel any pressure to buy one. I think it is great that you are venturing out to J-dolls to try it out and that I can share that experience with you. And you can share the BJD stuff with me whether you buy one or not too.
Very Happy

That BJD that goes for 600.00 is amazingly beautiful! I wish I looked like that too!

You asked if I would consider selling Bill or Tom someday. Probably. I love them both, but after seeing and experiencing BJD's I just don't know if I will continue to appreciate them in the same way as before. Tom is even more special to me than Bill in that I created him in a way. But, there was the negative experience at RS too that has also left me with a slightly bad taste in my mouth too. I would sell Bill tomorrow if I could get 500.00 for him and not blink an eye.

I will reevaluate how I am feeling about things when I return from Italy and see if I want to sell Bill for the big bucks or not. I would'nt take less than 250.00, and I may get more while the iron is hot so to speak. We'll see-it depends if the right BJD boy comes along that I can't live without. I may put some feelers out a few places to see what the interest is first. I am going to do a huge Halloween photoshoot of he and Tom when I get his new clothes and then may see if anyone is interested before Shana's BST section closes down if it feels right. I am more emotionally attached to Tom than Bill, but Bill is truely a work of art...so I may not be able to part with him when it actually gets right down to it.

That last BJD picture is an Elfdoll soah, even more pricey than the first! lol! I think she goes for more like 800.00! You have expensive taste in the BJD's for sure!

I wonder when you will get Alisa. I think your response to her will tell you if you are going to start a new phase in our doll obsession! I know getting Prudence told me I was in serious trouble!

That seller is willing to alter that outfit for me if needed based on my jdoll's measurements so I will be getting it. 36.00 is cheap for that cool fabric and design. I could never find cool fabric like that around here. Rolling Eyes That is my final splurge though for a while.

Really. I swear! Laughing

Well, if I could get enough from the sale of one doll to pay for a BJD I would consider. But I would need to sell several and there is just no way I can do that. I still love them to pieces!! I honestly think you could get about $500 for Bill - sadly not from me as I don't have it Razz , but with TH's popularity right now I really think if you put him on ebay you would get some great bidding going. I cannot even imagine you not having Bill Crying or Very sad That was such an exciting experience to share with you. Even though you have some bad feelings from RS you should be so proud of Tom. I don't know how you could part with him, being your first custom, BUT I wonder if you put them on ebay as a set just how high THAT bidding would go? Just think of the fans that would kill to have "The Twins" Twisted Evil

I hope that I get to enjoy my venture into J-Doll land. I still am scared to death of the tiny head pale I have so come to love the big headed dolls!! It's what makes them so special. I want the J-Dolls to be better than just a really pretty Barbie. (Speaking of which, I was at Wal-Mart Friday night to get some stuff for my folks and let me tell ya those Silktone and Birthday Barbies are gorgeous!! The dresses on the birthday Barbies are really beautiful!)

Well, maybe next year I will join you in BJD land. I know it won't be before then.

It figures I would go for the really expensive, never in this lifetime dolls! I'm that way about cars, houses, and everything else!! What do they say "Champagne taste and beer pocketbook" Laughing

Yes, very happy the window is fixed and that in a few weeks the handles and such will be also.

I'm afraid Tom's wig is very homemade and rough and without his eyechips changed I would'nt get that much for him....but you never know! I would sell them separately at the same time though to maximize the revenue! lol! I am in no hurry to part with them, but it is sure fun to talk about it! Chaching!

Your Haute would bring in at least 160.00 would'nt she? Not that you could ever part with her of course, but that is not chump change either sister!

If the J-doll is as special as they look, you will adjust quickly to the tiny heads! I think the acrylic eyes will make a huge impact on you, they are very cool! Do you know what size eyes they come with?

I have no idea what size they are. I cannot find any site that says what size the eyes are. Only the height. My guess is they are pretty small. They take a size 4 wig.

Yes, Kira would be the doll to fetch the most, but she is quite special to me since she was my 20th Anniversary present. Not that hubby would be mad at me if I sold some dolls to get another doll. He would indeed just be "whatever you want to do". Honestly, I would be surprised if I told him to pick out which doll was for my anniversary present vs. Mom's day and B-day and he actually knew. He might know if I had the mag cover by her Wink . But I really don't think I could part with her.

I hear ya on not being able to part with the sentimental ones, especially the 20th anniversary ones!

The place I have come to with my Pullip/Taeyang collecting is that all the Pullips look so much alike after a while. I know they have subtle and sometimes significant differences that make each one unique, paying as much as they are for a doll with really quite subtle differences when you can rewig them and achieve a different look with the same doll is where I am at with it. Now customs are a different matter entirely. The boys seem to have more extreme differences in their appearance though I admit, I think they make more dramatic changes in their face-ups than they do with the girls. I think that is why you are getting more into the boys and are content to not get anymore girls. That is also why I started looking more at Dollfies/BJD's and why you are gravitating towards J-dolls.

Is that oriental looking J-doll a custom I wonder? Dany working on repainting that tiny head would be an ordeal from hell IMO!

I totally agree about the Taeyangs having more difference in their facial features. Missionary, Lead, Filato, Sage, and Cavalie (I pick them because I have them) truly look different from each other. Lead and Missionary don't even look like the same doll.

I do think Haute and Zuora look different. Haute has the teeth and eyes so different from the others. In person Zuora definitely looks different from the others. That is why I wanted a girl with dark features like Chill. I think she would also look different then the rest of my collection.

I've always liked the pix of the J-Dolls, just wasn't sure I would be happy with a smaller doll. That "oriental" looking one is not a custom. She is just out of stock and in an oriental looking outfit. She is the same doll that is in the hat. Here she is in stock. I adore her stock. Her shoes and purse are awesome! I just love her!

wow, she does look different than in her stock does'nt she? I do like her stock too, I remember seeing her when she was first released and drooling over it.

I think I will like your doll that is coming as much or even better though. Yours has better lips.

Thanks! I think I will like her better too! I think that is why I fell for that Barbie red dress/coat/hat set that I bought yesterday. Between my doll's blue eyes, black hair and red coat she will look a lot like the pic above Razz Still, if I am happy with my J-Doll this girl will be high on my list to get not only for her stock, but she photographs beautifully! Now if I was just as talented a photographer as YOU!

Oops, I think I forgot to congratulate you on getting that lovely dress for Prudence! It is a gorgeous fabric and will look amazing on her!

ETA: I was just over at PS and saw that gorgeous custom Taeyang named Eclipse!! Yowza - that's a beautiful man!!

Yes, I saw Eclipse too. That gal does some cool custom Taeyangs and Pullips. I kind of wish she had posted one clear picture of his face-up though, that would have been nice to see the details of what she did.

I am still waiting to hear from the Ebay seller about whether she thinks the outfit will fit my girl by making the adjustments in the corset top or not. My girl is slightly more endowed than the model doll. Twisted Evil The gal seems really nice and accomodating. The custom doll clothes makers seem to offer the best deals in dollfie clothing land. My girl looks so great in blue or turquiose. That alice dress that I modified looks so good on her! I made it into a strapless babydoll style with lace and ribbon corset detailing. I just need to sew on the rickrack on the hemline to finish it. I am just too tired today to mess with it, maybe tomorrow. And I am going to force myself to go to bed here shortly. I have been staying up way too late and then have to drag myself to work...not good.

Good morning Luca (and lurkers Wink )

Hope you got a good nights rest! I slept pretty good. Had a few weird dreams Suspect

I hear ya about staying up too late! I've been staying up until midnight and sometimes later just being on-line. Mostly evilbaying Evil or Very Mad Bad me. Now that I am done with doll spending for a long while I can get to bed earlier.

I hope it all works out with the outfit adjustments. Very cool that the seller is open to working with you. Also very cool that you worked your magic on the Alice dress.

It is a perfect day here today. Sunny with a high of 72 flower Now THAT is my kind of weather! Tomorrow is suppose to be cloudy and in the 50s, so today is the day to enjoy!

Eric left at 9:15 to take my dad for his first appointment with the people who will be making his new legs. It is about a two hour appointment as they will be making casts and whatever else they have to do. Eric and my mom will be going out to eat while they work on my dad. Hope it all goes well. This place is a satellite office of Woodfield Ortho and Prosthetics so it is only open on Tues and Thurs. No Weds. when I am off. Good thing Eric doesn't have classes on Tues. I don't know what will happen in Jan. when second semester starts. Hopefully Eric can arrange his class schedule the same way and still have Tues. or Thurs. off so he can continue to take my dad for any appointments, if he still needs to go there. I have no idea how long of a process this all is. I believe he will get his therapy there also instead of Marion Joy.

Well, I best get going. I hope I get the chance to take some pix outside today. Yesterday was so very windy here and cloudy so I never got out to do it. Landon looks great in his new shirt and jeans from mEda! I have to decide who will wear the new white mini dress and take pix of that too! I like to leave pix with her feedback.

Have a great day! Talk to you later~ I love you
