Glad to see all is well! Continued prayers and good thoughts for all those still dealing with this horrible situation.

Thanks FC. Yes. I've gotta tell y'all. Getting up all through the night to see a fire rushing towards your house is quite stressful. Last night I slept better than I have in days. You don't know what a weight has been on your chest until that weight is lifted!

Of course, it helps that I can breathe again.

I'm so glad you are both doing well and can breath easier. How scarey for everyone in that area.

The funny thing (or scary thing, depending on viewpoint), Sky, is the second there is no danger it so easy to forget there ever was.

OMG frazz! That is so true! I was thinking the exact same thing! I mean, if you are one of those people who's house didn't burn down and the danger goes away, it's kind of "business as usual" and you forget how stressful it was. I guess that's why all these people don't just put "for sale" signs on their front lawns the next day.

For me, I need to go back to business as usual. It calms me. After the quake of 1994, I actually WANTED to go back to work and just live my life. I'm not one of those people who gets off on the drama of a tragedy. I am stressed while it's happening and right after, but then I have a desperate need for normalcy. I stop watching the news reports.

I think you guys know I've been in a couple of major accidents. One a long time ago where I was on my way to work. By that afternoon I had rented a car and went into work. Then the more recent one where I stuffed the airbag into the wheel and continued to my destination. OK, maybe a little bit crazy there, but I guess I've illustrated my point.

Yep the stuffing the airbag and continuing on to your destination...I remember the circumstances of that well!

Are any of you affected by the recent wild fires in the LA area? I hope not.

No fires near me..no winds either.

The fires are on TV pre-empting regular TV.

They look horrific.

Houses, business, blocks, neighborhoods..all going up in flames.

I'm glad you aren't near the fires, but I'm saddened to know that yet again, people are losing their homes and businesses. That was some strong wind!

My goodness, the fire reports topped for 10 minutes, for the start of SNL, but they are back. These fires (in several areas) are huge.

Earth is not the best place for humans to live.

Just stopping by to say that the fires have burned down my fair city yet again and YET AGAIN I was breathing in humongous amounts of smoke and ash. The Sylmar fire was the one that was really close. There's a thick layer of ash over everything here. One day I went out to my car and it looked like someone had slung mud on my windshield.

All that smoke made the sky quite the eerie color. There was no such thing as fresh air. The only way I can describe it is this: Imagine you're stuck in a small apartment after someone just burned about 10 bags of popcorn. You're forced to stay there and breathe it in. That's what the air smelled like when I stepped outside my door.

Student Bonfire Blamed for Wildfireposted:2 HOURS 59 MINUTES

Authorities say that some college students are to blame for one of three wildfires that ravaged Southern California over the past week. They say the students started a bonfire in the hills of Montecito and mistakenly believed they had extinguished it before leaving. Winds took hold of the embers, turning them into an inferno that destroyed hundreds of homes.

Christopher Lloyd, who's house in Montecito burned to the ground, should send them a personal thank you letter.
