| Not exactly acting, but my friend and I were extras in Friday Night Lights. Overall a good experience, but they really did mislead us as to how long we'd be there and what we'd be doing.
I guess there was SOME acting involved. We were told to do certain things when we were with the unit one group (that's with the main actors). Some of that was fun. Some was embarrassing, (waving pom poms and yelling right behind the main characters, so you KNEW you'd be on TV.) Some was rather nice (hugging 23-year-old boys who were pretending to be our sons.) Bad, bad, bad....

| Austin, that is so cool! I don't watch that show, but I hear it is really good. I would like to watch it because Kyle Chandler is such a hottie. Let us know when your episode will be on or rerun so we can watch! | |

| I'm putting this here because I can't find a better place for it...
First off, it's really hard for me to say my favorites, although there are some people I'll go to see in (almost) anything.
I love Johnny Depp. I always feel he turns in a good performance and gives his all to a character.
Hugh Grant has been starring in all my favorite films lately (Music & Lyrics, Bridget Jones' Diary, Love, Actually) he knows what he does well and sticks to it.
I don't think Drew Barrymore is the greatest actress in the world, but I do wind up going to see the movies she's in and she does command your attention while she's on-screen.
I find Renee Zellweger's mannerisms when she's not in a movie quite distracting, but her performances are top-notch (Bridget - LOVE!), Chicago (puppet scene).
I'll think of more later...
Now, I know Frazz is probably going to be the most helpful with this.
So, my script revolves around an aspiring actress who's about to hit 30 but is afraid to audition.
I've been trying to flesh her out and also give her a really good reason about why she can't bring herself to audition.
I'm looking on the net and searching for stories and thinking "man, I wish I knew an actre-" Shit!
So I can't believe it's taken me this long and this close to deadline to come in here on my hands and knees to ask Frazz to help me flesh out my character by giving me some of your experience and also!
OH! I was going to look up what a commercial audition looks/sounds like, and I guess you'd know that too!
DAMN I'm slow. I'm so blonde sometimes.
If you can help me with this Frazz, I owe you BIG TIME and I will probably get my script done in like 2 days.
I LOVE FRAZZ!!!! | |

| Sorry guys! It was a nice 2 hour conversation. Frazz is quite colorful and it wouldn't have been the same without talking to her.
She was invaluable and I will absolutely be able to get my script done a lot better and my character will be way more fleshed out.
Basicallly it's not going to be "one pivotal event" that makes her turn away from acting, but a series of humiliations and abuses. This will make it much more realistic, since most of us get beaten down gradually.
So thank you Frazz for bringing color to my world!

| yep! I'm sure we've had longer conversations in the past and being with her is even more fun!
So far today I was able to write 10 pages based on information she gave me, including the commercial audition, which was a big sticking point. I wanted to make it realistic and Frazz described it all so perfectly. I'm trying to get away from the movie cliche version of what a commercial audition looks like because I figured reality was much funnier and bizarre. Boy, was I right.
I can't wait for Frazz to read my commercial audition scene. Once I register it with the WGA, I'll try to tell you all what the story is about and give you some of the key scenes.
Also, I'm hoping one day you'll be able to go see it in the theatre!

Why of course! I wrote another 7 pages. I'm down to the last act. I can't believe I wrote 17 pages today! I really do need a deadline to light a fire under me. This will all be done by next week and then I can concentrate on my recaps!

| OK, so I am in the star acting class, even though most of the people are too young for me to have a clue who they are.
My next scene (the teacher assigns them and give you the partner) is White Oleander.
The novel...oddly enough, was begun in a writers workshop I was part of, and I was the one who alwyas read the beautiful icy mother as Janet Fitch was starting to write it (she later went to another workshop to finish it).
I am all giddy about playing this part, though I did see the movie version and it wasn't nearly as good as the book.

| "star" acting class...In L.A. there are usually about two places that hot young working actors take class, and there is usually one specific class that has the hottest (hot professionally, though that usually also mean they look pretty amazing). I am no in that class. Turns out the girl who is playing my daughter in White Oleander is the daughter on the TV show Shark.
My hope is that these kids will be in projects where they get to insist I play their mom, aunt, or grandma.

It's awesome that you're in there. I think acting takes a whole lotta guts. I couldn't handle it. It's hard enough having my writing critiqued.

| The benefit of being an actor is that people expect you to be a bit much...a bit too much of whatever it is...and I am a bit much (too loud, too animated, say "fuck" too much) to have to pretend to be normal for years on end as I tried to (and did not succeed) in the museum job. | |

| Frazz, you know, even as a writer, it is SO difficult for me to be in an office environment. I can't relate to thos people. They're content to work in an office until retirement. I would die.
Those around me keep trying to get me to just take an office job during the day and pursue my writing at night.
Yeah. After I've spent 9 hours at work and driven 3 hours to work and back, you know what I feel like doing? Coming home and working some more! I don't THINK so.
Know what I've done since I left my last office job? Written a script. That's no coincidence.
