| I definitely plan on getting Weir's book then since I have two good reviews on it! Thanks ladies! And without further ado, let the fashion show begin! Some of my fav costumes from this season: I think the coordinated costumes are da bomb! Don't know if this was season 1 or 2 , but the detail close up of this garment is exquisite...Johnathan knows how to work it too..*cough, cough*! | |

| I love the purple one. I read that in Season one some of JRM's costumes were Errol Flynn's.
Antonia Fraser is a good writer too, but Alison weir has the definitive biography on Elizabeth 1 . She also has an excellent book on Mary queen of Scots and the murder of Lord Darnley.

The purple one is to die for...I really enjoy all the riding scenes but have to say Jonathan does not look like the greatest rider. He kicks the hell out of the horses and jerks his reins all over the place. But, he does have a good seat and posture. Pure athleticism alone has probably helped him to be able to pull off the riding scenes. How interesting that some of the costumes were Errol Flynn's! I wonder how they acquired them.

| I think my favorite costume was the one Anne Boleyn wore when she was walking outside with Henry when he was telling her he was going to take her to France with him. | |

Was that season 2 Badger? What did it look like? I also thought the gray dress she wore on the last episode was beautiful.

| Luca, did you get the book yet? I am reading Lady Elizabeth now by Alison Weir. It is a fictional account of E1 's life. Next I am going to read about the Hanovers including George 3 . I've read Lancasters, Stuarts, Tudors so now I need to read about the next . | |

| Does anyone here remember when The Six Wives of Henry VIII was on PBS? It was a six-part series from the BBC, and each episode was about one of Henry's wives. I rented a copy of it over the weekend. | |

| Yes, I did. I had seen it when it was first on, but I wanted to see it again. Obviously, they didn't go into as much detail as each wife's story was told in one 90 minute episode and no, there weren't any really recognizable names or faces - at least not to Americans. Or at least not to me. The big difference in this production is that Henry gets fat fairly early on - around the time of Jane Seymour. Also, the cast seems to be a bit older and well, not as pretty as the ones on "The Tudors". But the acting is top-notch. I especially liked Lady Rochford who is really nasty in this version. She has a pretty big part - I think she's in five episodes. All of the wives are good too. Interestingly enough, the one playing Katharine of Aragon is a redhead which she was in actuality. Anyway, I can't wait to find out if Jonathan Rhys Myers either goes the DeNiro route and gains weight or just dons a fat suit to play an older Henry. Or will his version of Henry even get fat? Oh you know my favorite on the show was Mark Smeaton so I've been checking out articles, etc. about the actor who played him. Here's a good one from early in his career: Looks like Clay Aiken isn't the only one whose career path was altered by an audition - Quote :
- The 21-year-old Toronto native never set out to be an actor. His only other acting experience was as the tramp in a University of Toronto production of Chekhov's The Cherry Orchard. He ended up in Ararat when he and a friend tried out for roles as extras and Egoyan noticed something in him, an innocence and intelligence perhaps, that seemed suited for the conflicted, idealistic Raffi.
And he never dreamed of being a star, which his impressive, soulful performance in Ararat could make him. On the contrary, Alpay feels his calling is in the scientific community, not the arts community (although he has been the principal violinist for the Canadian Dance Tapestry since 1994). He has one year left for his undergraduate degree in human biology and will be writing his medical school entrance exams in August. He'd eventually like to be a psychiatrist or neuroscientist. He has a particular interest in the brain -- he won the 1999 U.S. National Brain Quiz -- and has spent several months in each of the last two years with researchers in California, helping conduct experiments on memory behaviour in rats.
"There's a universe of stuff to learn -- we haven't really cracked anything yet," he says. "They've just come up with a functional MRI that let's us see thoughts. That's amazing, to see thoughts, see where they're happening, see how much juice it takes to have a thought." Here's a picture of him in high school:

| Wow, those small photos are lovely! David is a really interesting actor indeed. That one article said he was planning on going off to medical school or something. I wonder if his success in acting will change that. All the actors look so different out of their period clothes! Except JRM! | |

| That article is from around 2002-2003, so I'm sure medicine's loss has been acting's gain.
After he made Ararat, he did get his degree and he started graduate school. As recently as 2005, he was mentioned as working on a master's thesis, but acting ended up taking precedence. I imagine he figured that once he got back into acting, he might get an occasional job but nothing that would interfere with his original life goals. He works pretty much exclusively in Canada or for Canadian productions, mainly television. If you've ever seen the Robin Williams movie "Man Of The Year", he's got a small part in that.
He's also very involved in the movement to get world governments to recognize the Armenian genocide in Turkey.

| I am watching Henry V111 with Ray Winstone right now. He is more loke Henry in appearance I think , but I prefer JRM. Helena Bonham Carter is Anne. I wish I could find the Six Wives one ,netflix doesn't have it. I just finished Elizabeth by alison weir it was fuction. I throughly enjoyed it. I am alao getting ready to read Plain Jane by Lauren Gardnier. It is fiction about Jane Seymour. As you can see I never tire of this subject. | |

| Sad to report that "The Tudors" was pretty much shut out of the Emmys. It got nods for casting and costumes but neither the show nor any of the actors got nominations. I was hoping for a nod for Jeremy Northam and Peter O'Toole myself. | |

| That is too bad, but with so many channels and so many shows and so much great talent, it is so hard to be one of the few chosen for nominations. There were many good people and shows snubbed. Sad for those who didn't make the cut. They can only hope that next year might be different.
For me - Lauren Graham not ever getting nominated for Gilmore Girls is a crime!!!

| Badger, that is really sad they did'nt get a single nomination because I think the Tudors is an artistic masterpiece, much better than Weeds and Entourage which I'm sure are both up for numerous awards. Sometimes I think so much of these awards are based on what actors and production teams are the most popular in behind the scenes circles and some kind of underground Hollywood political system .... - Aerwin wrote:
