| Sky, I know Bo was dropped by RCA, do you know what label he is with now? I hope he stays healthy more than anything else! And more about the bus line: xxx4clay at CV wrote: - Quote :
- I have to talk about this no matter if it turns what I was determined was gonna be a short recap into a tome. That line was unfreaking believeable! I have been in a few such lines but nothing, nothing ever approached this. Nothing. I am no judge of how may people were there so I will just say there were tons and tons of people. The line stretched up and down, over and around, left and right and over and under and around that building and, I swear, it had to have been a mile long. Then we waited. For Clay. I was more toward the end of the line than the beginning. Finally I saw two security guys come out of the building and trot, or maybe they strode confidently, toward the end of the line. Shortly thereafter, I saw a while SUV with POLICE written on the side, drive slowly by in the same direction. I said to those around me - “I bet Clay’s in there.” And he was. About a minute later we heard the distant screams that told us that Clay Had Landed. The previously laid-back line let loose of their inner EEEEEEEEE and the surrounding vibe electrified accordingly and rose to a fever pitch. Then, there was Clay, flying down that line, and I do mean flying - even faster than usual.

| From someone at The CH: This is in regards to the 2500 people lined up for handshakes after the concert. The Columbus newspaper said it was at least 2500 and the line stretched over a mile! People giving recaps said he did indeed shake every hand! Can you even imagine?! - Quote :
- Someone asked Jerome if Clay was really going to be able to shake everyone’s hand and Jerome smiled and said “He’d do it if he has to walk to Detroit”.
God I love him! | |

| A quote from Clay during his concert last night: - Quote :
- Actually, Clay went back and sat on the patio wall for a while because the sun was in the audience's eyes. When Quiana told him his pants were in danger of falling off, he said well the audience might see the sun and the moon both.

| I had to put this here because it is just so cute!! I don't know if they really are a couple (as of course there are rumors they are) but they sure would be cute together! Jamie is not his blood cousin, only a cousin thru marriage on Clay's stepfather's side and since they seem to be together consistanly people think they are an item, and I must admit they are like this in most of their pix together. However, when Clay talks about her in concert he always refers to her as "my cousin", which makes me think they are not. Anyway, I think she is just a little doll and they look adorable! | |

| From the ClayBoard! Another great review! From a man who clearly did not want to like Clay, but did! - Quote :
- There was a review of Clay’s performance with the Columbus symphony orchestra Saturday night in The Other paper today which was simply awesome. What makes it even better is that the entertainment critic (a male) usually doesn’t have a nice thing to say about anyone. The Other paper is a free publication distributed throughout the Columbus Metropolitan area on Thursdays. Lots of people read it because it’s free. Just wish I had a scanner and could scan the whole article, but since I can’t I decided to do the next best thing and type out the best parts:
A TRANSCENDENT NIGHT OF PURE POP BEAUTY
Clay Aiken is an utterly convincing singer. Deal With it.
By John Petric
If you haven’t suspected it by now, this ought to confirm it. Yours truly is over the hill.
I liked Clay Aiken.
* * *
So yes, Clay Aiken. He’s a piece of work isn’t he? A cross between John Edwards and Paul McCartney, he mines the emotional veins dug by Streisand, Manilow and Celine, yet without the soul, severe schmaltz or extreme hysteria of those three.
* * *
And yet, let me tell you …..he can sing like a son of a gun. When he isn’t sounding like God’s most precious choirboy, he approaches Luther Vandrossian levels of soul pop.
So the first half of the first half was just that. Even the songs that weren’t about self-affirmation sounded like they were. And then everything suddenly coalesced a few tunes later for what would turn out to be the master stroke. “These Open Arms.”
“What if everything you ever took for granted was gone?” … “And everything you thought was right was wrong?”
Those very questions might be on Michael Vick’s mind right now. But our boy Clay was singing from the fist-sized organ in his chest. He’s no dummy. In fact, I figure him to be quite shrewd. The placing and pacing of “Arms” woke me up and won me over.
Aiken sang those soul-numbing lyrics with every ounce of focused emotional force he could conjure. Every hurt, every slight, every deep yearning to be loved when he wasn’t came out in that song. And let me tell you, we’re talking utterly convincing. I would’ve dabbed his eyes myself if he’d been teary.
* * *
With violins and cellos and violas caressing the melody, Aiken had the force of Oprah’s entire universe behind him. It was pure pop beauty, and I was awestruck by the moment.
Having achieved that level, Aiken returned to it frequently in the second half, but not before he had some fun with golden oldies and whatnot. He had a fine sense of humor, often self-deprecating and a little bit wicked, like when he mentioned the “Chemical Contaminated” grass.
His goofy, well-executed medley (with awesome symphonic accompaniment – mustn’t forget that) included dead-on snippets of Michael Jackson, Madonna, Prince and even “Achy Breaky Heart.”
After “These Open Arms” my favorite song was “Without You” a not-so-minor pop masterpiece. Aiken didn’t quite nail it as perfectly as Harry Nilsson, who was nowhere near the technically accomplished singer Aiken is. But he nailed it nonetheless, in his own patented I-die-for-your-sins-every-night way of performing.
And I found myself trying to figure out how I was going to tell the world I didn’t hate the guy—that, indeed, I was somewhat touched by him.

| Clay went to see the musical!! Here is an account! - Quote :
- from stripedshirts at CV:
Quote: I cannot believe my luck tonight.
I went to see IDOL THE MUSICAL.....and guess who shows up? CLAY!!! He brought the posse w/ him - Angela, Quiana, Mary, Jerome, Jamie, plus the girl who we lovingly dub 'Sweater Girl' & an unidentified male (I think it's Sweater Girl's date) I cannot believe of all nights I wound buying a tkt to the show, that he would come finally come & see it for himself.
And guess what? he liked it! Even though parts of the show were so cheesy & ridiculous, he liked it!
He did not boo, hiss or hurl things on the stage. When the show ended, he was the first to stand up & give a standing ovation, which the kids up there REALLY appreciated. The kids were on their full A Game tonight & acted very well, I was so proud of them. I don't know how many of you here have seen the musical - so you may not connect immediately to what I'm trying to say, especially the scenes I'm describing - but this is the best I can as far as connecting those moments to the looks on Clay's face.
Here are what I can gather:
Clay arrived quietly w/ his crew into the theatre around 8:20 - and there were some gasps in the audience when they realize he was inside - and I had a perfect view of him from where I sat, which was off the side, diagonal. Clay was sandwiched btwn Mary & Sweater Chick, Jamie sat w/ Jerome who took an aisle seat. Jerome was so big, his legs stuck out on the sides. I could've tapped him if I wanted but I kept quiet & observed Clay. Quiana & Angela sat one row behind them.
The minute they all seated, the lights dimmed & the 1st no. 'Idolize' started. The actors attacked it w/ so vigor & verocity that it was overwhelming to watch w/ Clay in the audience, & I had a difficult time trying to figure out who to keep my eyes on - him or the actors who were ripping into the no. My eyes were flipping backm & forth..... And Clay's reactions to this were priceless!!! Oh my god - it killed me not to be able to take a photo of his facial expressions when he was watching the 1st no. - he had the program book open, and up against his face, covering his mouth and nose - and when the Flat Clay was unveiled, he jerked in his seat, sending the program flying onto Mary's lap, which he quickly retrieved. Part of the time he was bending to whisper something into either Mary's ear or Sweater Girl's ear. The other times he watched w/ his finger to his lips, taking it all in, or cringing from some of the nos. making his chin disappear into his neck. Everyone around him were choking, they were laughing so hard, & it was real funny watching Jerome wipe his eyes. At one point Clay even yelped 'oh god!'
I can only remember bits & pieces of what I saw of Clay because there were moments I was watching the musical, which has improved some since the first time I saw it the first wk it opened; alot of subtle edits have been done, as well as additions. One of them, was the 'armrest' bit - the cowboy had his feet on the armrest of the couch, prompting the girl Alex, the grease faced gas station attendant, to shout "Get your foot off my armrest!" I missed Clay's reaction on that one, I don't know if audience caught that one, but I'm sure he must've snickered. I did not miss his reaction to the "I'm NOT Kelly Ripa" bit - he nodded his head & clapped his hands for that one.
And the far funniest moments was during the "Burning Hunk of Clay"/Claygasm no. when the actress was making out w/ the Clay bust, then started to remove her cardigan, skirt & pulled out the whip, screaming, "Oh Clay, OH CLAY" his eyes got so big I thought they were going to pop. Mary was shaking all over laughing.
The actors all had their eyes on the left side of the house where Clay sat during the finale, & when they all took a bow one by one, it was almost as if they were saluting Clay. It was a cool moment.
Later, Todd Ellis the producer came towards Clay as the audience filed out, & asked him to stick around so the actors could meet him. The doors closed shut as I stepped outside, but I sat on a stool & waited. Waiting w/ me were 2 others who knows the cast, so they were hanging around to get their loved ones. Behind the door, I could laugh applause, then laughter, then clapping, then Clay talking rapidly; I couldn't make out a word he said, it was too far & somewhat muffled. But they were all having a good time inside, & I felt so glad he made this musical; it turned out Todd went to the Syracuse concert just last wk. & his wife got to talk to Clay for a bit about coming to see the show. That paid off tonight when Clay brought his troop in.
10 minutes later, the doors swung open, & out walked Jerome, Quiana, Sweater Girl & then Clay - they all walked out, & there was a yellow cab outside which Jerome got Clay into. Clay didn't stop for pics or autographs & there were a small group of fans who stood out there. The cab sped West, towards Jersey. I'm willing to bet tomorrow night there may or may not be some mention about Idol The Musical at the Newark concert, but we'll see; if he does, it'd be a great plug for the show.
Now -- this is where I need help from anyone out there who can do a SENDIT link, because I don't know how. I have video, just 19 seconds of Clay exiting the theatre after his pep talk w/ the kids. It's not much, but I know you all want to see it & I'm glad I got it. Can someone here help me?
So Sweater Girl is back in the picture?? I can't keep up. Everytime I think I know who he is dating there is another mystery!!! | |

Quote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Someone at BB4CA put together a list of all the little tidbits we've "learned" from the Meet and Greets with Clay. Remember these are from from M&G's and are subject to the Aiken Fog so sprinkle with a dash of salt. However, its a cool list, and I had missed some of these things. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. The reason that he doesn't sing "Touch" is that he simply doesn't like the song.
2. Clay really doesn't care for the song "Shine" either.
3. Raleigh loves to travel and even whined when Clay left her to go on the Evening with Clay Aiken 2007 Tour".
4. Clay doesn't like for fans to contact his Mother about things that upset them and asked that if there is something you don't like to contact him.
5. Clay will stay with RCA as long as they will have him.
6. Clay isn't a Harry Potter fan.
7. Clay let us know that the new CD might take longer than we have ever had to wait.
8. He was not that fond of "A Thousand Days".
9. Clay had a more positive inclination toward "Tears Run Dry".
10. We also learned that he likes creamy and crunchy peanut butter- as long as the peanuts are crunchy, not rubbery.
11. He likes ketchup, mustard, and mayo on his hot dogs.
12. He sleeps on the left side of the bed, right side if you are looking at it.
13. He gave his white Volvo to mom.
14. He kept his silver Volvo convertible in LA.
15. He also likes Audi cars.
16. Has loud frogs in his pond; and can imitate their sounds.
17. Jamie doesn't like frogs.
18. Durham is "dumb".
19. Durham and Raleigh from different breeders.
20. Raleigh is from the same bloodline as the dog on "Something about Mary".
21. "Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader?" tapes sometime in August.
22. He and Jamie went to his college friend's wedding.
23. He previewed possible new upbeat song for new CD in Canandaigua. Wouldn't tell us the the name of it or give us the initials.

25. He wants an educational-type talk show; would like maybe Diane Sawyer & Larry King as guests.
26. RCA is happy w/new producer choice for new CD.

28. Regarding changing labels ..."better the devil you know than the devil you don't"...all labels have their problems.

32. "These Open Arms" is his current favorite to sing and he never gets tired of singing Invisible.
33. He likes when people stand up! When asked what to do if the person behind you tells you to sit down? He said to tell them to be quiet.
34. In an effort to make these meet and greets special he tells some things that he asked the winners not to share on the boards.
35. "This Is The Night" is a hard song to sing.

37. If he could have picked a single from ATDW he would have chose Lonely No More or These Open Arms.
38. Clay gives great hugs.
39. Clay looks you in the eyes when he talks to you.
40. Clay was told by the label to do a covers CD or wait three years. So he chose the covers CD rather than the long wait.
41. Clay was asked about a PBS special and said they contemplated one but want to wait until he has more original material.
42. TBAF will expand into adult programs as Mike Bubel ages & matures.
43. Doesn't plan to do country songs; pop can crossover into country, but not vice versa.

45. Has done more than just meet Arnold Schartzenegger in Canada (apparently sang at a private governatorial event 1-2 years ago).
46. Re: secrets told for M&G's only: Clay said, "This is my serious face...if it gets out, I will know who tells and there will be no more meet and greets for anyone!" (snarky)
47. Appreciates his fans; doesn't take for granted.
48. Was asked if he'd like to work more with Steven Curtis Chapman and joked that SCC won't call him back or return his calls.
He said “we do talk to each other…in fact…he hasn’t called me back! I left him a message before I went to Afghanistan and he still hasn’t called me back!” he turned to Jamie and Mary and acted mad and said “He hasn’t called me back!!” I said “Maybe he needs your new iphone number!” Clay said “it’s the same!” I said, “well there goes that excuse!”
49. RE: SCC, We did work on a song awhile back. Brett said something to my mom and I was talking to Steven about it and he wrote a song. It was called “What I’m fighting for” It was a great song and I wanted to put it on the album, but then it didn’t really fit on the album since we changed direction with it. I think Steven is going to use it, now. (October)
50. Asked if he would do a Christian CD and he said he would like to do it someday but label would not support it.
51. He was asked if he and Jimmy Kimmel are good friends and he said yes that they each have a poster of the other over their beds... (snark ????)
52. Clay said he does not like "Back for More"! He thinks it is "cheesy" and oly sang it because the audience wanted it.
53. When asked if BAF galas would be in Raleigh, he said No, they will look at other cities. Talked to him about the 100 camps goal. Yes, but look how much money we raised at Raleigh Gala when all I had to do is @#%$ myself out.
54. When asked if fans could help with label, he said good question....No, just buy it even if it is crap.
55. He said that things are going very well right now, they are on the same page with the CD.
56. He told us in the M&G (Sterling Heights) that he does NOTHING to warm up before a show. Doesn't gargle with olive oil, doesn't do "mi mi mi mi" - just prays.
57. Clay was asked if he and Kimmel were as close as Kimmel says. Clay said, “we do talk to each other on the phone. He is really funny. Have you ever seen his show? He’s just really funny!”
58. There was a question about if Clay had something to do with Kimmel getting something in north Carolina…Clay said “I actually had NOTHING to do with that, but it’s nice for him to give me credit anyway!”
59. Clay was told that Kimmel says Clay is his “go to” guy! And Clay made a funny face (like he was thinking about that statement) and said “do I really want to be Kimmel’s go to guy?” and laughed.
60. He said that the label was being very supportive and working well with him on what all to put on the next album. Said they seemed to be on the same page.
61. Columbus to be last night we will hear "A Thousand Days". He's falling asleep during it, it is so boring
62. "A Thousand Days" is hard on his voice and drags on and on. (don't know if Clay said that or not.)
63. He read the Columbus review with regards to "Lover All Alone". He's mostly thinking about dinner and food. Someone asked him he was a "Lover All Alone", he gave a very political answer. He just tried to write things that worked.
64. Clay said that he had no idea when the new albun would be out but he could assure us it will be all new material, no covers.
65. He does eat all the recipes that are in his book. Someone said they did not like the spaggetti recipe and he said " I am telling my mama cause it is her recipe"
66. Clay was telling us about putting in something different in place of "A Thousand Days" and he said "knock on wood" and he knocked on my head.
67. Questions were asked about the new CD and he said it would be a very long time. Given Clay's definition of "soon", I hate to even think about "a very long time",
68. Someone asked what were his favorite venues to play, he took alot of time to think, I noticed that that his cheek was twitching when he was thinking. He finally stated that he likes auditoriums best because then people were close to the stage and he likes to have his audience close.
69. He talked about the upcoming Christmas tour and how he thought it was scheduled mostly in the midwest. No Canada stops - he didn't even think there was a raleigh stop this Christmas.
70. He mentioned they had sent a male producer some music and if he comes back with the right kinda sound that Clay's looking for, then it will be a done deal and will be announced sometime when the tour was over.
71. He talked alot about missing his dogs and how the two of them were plenty. He stated he missed Raleigh - he wouldn't name who was allergic on the bus but stated it wasn't Jesse and not to believe the boards.
72. Someone asked him if he was happy and he said of course he was happy, why wouldn't he be? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
See Badger, I wasn't crazy Trust me. It was made clear in that chat room that he was told "the cover CD or you wait 3 years". | |

| A Meet and Greet recap from one of the mods at the OFC! He is just so funny and sweet. - Quote :
- worlds longest recap ever...scroll alert....
Ok, here it is my meet n greet recap.
I asked and was allowed to attend a meet n greet on Saturday, therefore the number of fans at Saturday’s meet n greet was 7.
Jerome came and got us and led us to the green room , how close it was to the proximity of the stage, I have no idea, but Clay came up the stairs right in front of the door. It had a few side chairs and then some stackable wire plastic chairs and surprise it was a green room. Jerome gave us the 3 rules: 1. autograph per person; 2. no hugging Clay too tightly; 3. behave as though we were at a church social and our parents were there.
He told us he used to do a whole litany of don’ts, but one time someone grabbed Clay inappropriately and her defense was “you didn’t say you couldn’t touch him there”
We asked about the bus line and he said that the bus was parked outside, and that there would be buses, as long as it could be done in a safe manner.
We told him how much we all enjoyed the new meet n greet format and he was happy to hear that. Supposedly there have been some that don’t like it, but he positive have far outweighed the negative.
We asked how he liked the Idol: the Musical and he said it was interesting. Did he think it was funny, he said he was still laughing. I asked at Clay or at the play? He said both and that it was very interesting.
He said make sure you have questions for Clay, it makes the meet n greet much more enjoyable, myself and one other pulled out our typed sheets and he was like good, I have no worries, I will be back shortly.
So, the group of 7 talked amongst ourselves; until Jamie came in, and she is such a sweetie and a cutie. She said it had been quite a day. I asked, anything you care to share, and she said: “Do y’all have any striped socks?” We all laughed and asked if this meant a sockless Clay, and lo and behold Clay came up the stairs and into the room. He was wearing a white shirt and khakis cargo shorts, stubble, hair every which way and his brown sandal/flip flops
Clay came in and greeted us. He noticed that we were a large group. I said that’s b/c I was added. He asked why and several said b/c she is special. Clay asked why I was special. I asked if wanted me to answer, he said no, they can. And my friend Dee, said I know b/c she is a and he finished the sentence…You’re a moderator, I said yes, and he thanked me for doing that for them (Yes, royal we was in attendance  (he sat across from us, we were kind of in a line against the wall)
He was yawning. I asked if we were keeping him up. He said that he hadn’t been sleeping well since arriving in NY, and that he hadn’t fallen asleep until 6:00 am that morning that he had a really bad headache. He then stated that he was going to nap between and 8 & 10 that night. I teased him that could work, we could then all say we slept with Clay…giggles from the 5 other women in the meet n greet…not sure Rob enjoyed that remark…yes, a Claydawg was in the house. He pretended to consider that for a moment asking if we thought it would work, I said probably for about 10 minutes, he said nah, if I am going to asleep it is going to be for more than 10 mins.
He then asked us to introduce ourselves, which we did. He said he recognized and remember two of the people. One of them was Marge from the bus at Englewood, NJ last December. Marge related that she had been able to come on the bus after answering the question: what is the 4th most populous country in the world? The answer is Indonesia. Marge knew this b/c her husband is from Indonesia.
Teacher Clay kicks in and asks if we know what the 3rd country is ….there were some guesses, I said India, and was told no. One of the other fans said Asia, upon which Clay quickly pointed out that is a continent and not a country. He then told us: China, India, USA, Indonesia and Brazil. I said you have been to several of the countries; Clay said I have been to all of the countries and then quickly retracted that b/c he realized that he hadn’t been to China.
We then spent several minutes trying to get Marge to answer what part of Indonesia her husband was from, Marge was a bit confused and was telling us how her husband’s family first immigrated to a Dutch City and then later to Washington state and after prodding by all she said her husband was from Jakarta. Clay was very sweet and snarky and said “well, that took thirty minutes. He then opened the floor to questions, I am trying to do these in order, but I think they are bit mixed up, if someone else gives a different order, they are most likely right.
Q: What is in the water bottle on the stage?
A: It is a secret, only Mary knows and it changes each night. They always take the label off the bottle.
The fan that asked the question said well it taste awful. Apparently a friend of hers took a bottle after the concert; Mary who was in the room, laughed and said “security”. Clay said it probably had a lot of spit in it.
Q: who has creative control over his concerts?
A: He does. He comes up the concept and in the case of JBT and JNT 2 and then handed them off to Amy Tinkham who took the ideas and ran with it. Clay is not involved for awhile there then is a lull, and the he snarked he comes in at the end and changes everything.
Asked if it is possible to tour between albums?
He said it is really difficult b/c he is not on TV and the like and is not as visible. He said last year’s xmas concert sold really well b/c he was TV and had the controversy with Kelly Ripa.. Clay then joked that he was going to have create another controversy like putting his foot on someone’s armrest or slapping his hand across someone’s mouth. Lots of laughter. He mentioned that this summer concert series while doing well, wasn’t doing as well as the Xmas tour, and he attributed that to his lack of visibility.
Not sure about the question, but the answer was quite fascinating.
Clay then started talking about if he had his way, and he thought it was too late, but if could, he would re-release "All Is Well" with MCWL with added or additional production. He said it probably wouldn’t happen, but that is what he would like to do. He then looked at Mary and said that they should bring it up this evening. (He didn’t say so then, but I got the impression that the label was going to be in attendance)
Q: Since becoming a celebrity who is your favorite interviewer?
A: Print media would be Alison Glock. Alison is very through and spent considerable time with him for his Elle interview. He referenced Kelly’s recent article with Alison and mentioned that he had been contacted by Alison. He said was impressed with Alison and that is why he asked her to contribute to LTS.
His favorite TV interviewer would be Diane Sawyer. Someone mentioned Jimmy and he said Jimmy was hysterical and that he really enjoyed working with Jimmy, but that Jimmy doesn’t really interview. Someone mentioned Kelly Ripa and that got a snort and a look.
Q: Favorite celebrity moment?
A: Clay had to think about that and he said that two things stood out. AI Finale b/c they keep playing it and playing it. (not sure if he was saying his finale or the AI5 finale, but I thought he was referencing the AI5 finale)
He also mentioned the World Series, I got the impression that this might not be his favorite thing, but it was a big deal. I mentioned that he looked so cold that night, he didn’t have an specific recollection. But others mentioned it as well. I also asked/suggested that he might have been nervous; this was met with a resounding NO.
It was now my turn to ask one of my several questions.
I asked if RCA has any control over when he blogs, what he blogs, etc.
A: Why in the world would you ask that question?
A: Because it has come up a couple of times on the board
A: Well, let me put it this way. The world abounds with a lot of conspiracy theories. In actuality, there are very few conspiracies in this world, so no.
I then followed up with: Does RCA have anything to do with the fanclub?
A: He said yes, they do with Clayaiken.com. He said with respect to clayonline.com the better question would be: “Do they even know it exist?”
Q: I said that is what I thought and then pointed out that they do put on his CD, and he said that is b/c I tell them to. I said well some thought that RCA might have control, and he said well, now you have six people to back you up
Q: Would he ever consider doing Broadway?
A: He said he would consider, but that he would have to be much older. He said he couldn’t imagine doing 8 shows a week. That he likes variety and that he likes to mix up his shows. He couldn’t imagine saying and singing the same things, from the same spot on the stage night after night.
Q: What advice would give an aspiring teacher?
A: What grade does NJ stop for elementary?
A: various answers some stop at 8th, some at 5th and some at 6th
A: He would advise against teaching the grades that have mandated state tests. You get stuck teaching the test. He said he wouldn’t have wanted to teach 3rd or 5th grade in Raleigh. He would also advise against teaching the top grade of the elementary, whether it be 5, 6th or 8th b/c by then the kids start copping an attitude.
Q: Would he go back to teaching?
A: Doesn’t think he could at this point, doubts that the kids would listen to him, plus he would have take pictures with all the kid’s mamas
Q: When he is in Raleigh, is he comfortable going out in public?
A: Yes, he doesn’t go to the store to much, but he will. He likes to go out to eat with a group of friends to certain restaurants, which he won’t say b/c he still wants to go there. If does go out, he usually drags someone with him.
Q: You sang Listen so well, and you knew all the words, do you know all the songs ? (this was my question, and I was quite excited to have a bit of a scoop, but alas he announced this at the concert last night )
A. He chooses the songs for the girls. So he picks what he likes and what he wants to hear. Jaymes does say that he has knack for lyrics, and that after one listen of a demo he can usually do a reasonable facsimile of the lyrics. He said that b/c he and Quiana grew up singing live, that has a lot to do with it. He says b/c even now he sings a lot of his stuff live, he has learned to wing it and go with it, to make it work…if he has to sing the 2nd verse twice, that is what he does. He said Quiana really sang the bulk of it and that he just joined her. We assured him it was absolutely beautiful.
Q: What did he think of Idol: the Musical?
A: It was quite flattering and the same time it made him uncomfortable. He gave the actors props and said they were talented.
Q: Will he ever put out 5230 shirts?
A: No, he won’t and if the fans start replicating them, then they would stop wearing them.
Q: He appears to be more comfortable with the fans?
A: Snark…I am heavily medicated…. Then he continued to say, if the fans don’t freak then he is fine. But when the fans freak, that freaks him out. He still doesn’t get the attraction.
Q: In general terms does he know if the sound of the new album will be more like MOAM or more like ATDW or a combo?
A: It is too early to say. He doesn’t have the songs picked, so he couldn’t really say….the sound is developed toward the end of the album process
Not sure if he said at this point in the conversation, but he said hopefully it will be all originals and then he said it will be all originals.
He also mentioned that with regard to song writing, if it happens, it happens.
Ok, I think that is fairly comprehensive. He was adorable and funny and snarky.
A cute thing, I was last to get my picture taken. He said oh, you’re tall. And we got our picture taken. After he said something to the effect: Dear lord please tell me you have heels on. I said yes, and then he asked how tall are you? I said 5’9, he then said you were taller than me in the photo. I said no, I couldn’t be, my heels weren’t that high. He said no, you were a tad taller. I said well, let’s take the photo again, I didn’t want to be taller. Jamie said no, it was nice picture b/c we were so evenly matched. Now, I don’t think I was taller, even with my shoes on I should have been about 5’ll ...i guess the proof will be in the picture… | |

Whatever happened to Justin Guarini? When was the last time you heard what Ruben Studdard was up to?
But mention Clay Aiken and most people have at least some idea of who you're talking about.
The most popular of the "American Idol" runners-up is on his way to the Coachella Valley for a concert Sunday in the Special Events Center at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino.
With the exception of a drummer and pianist, on this tour Aiken's picking up bands in each city that he plays.
<snip>
Aiken's schedule has been really tight on this tour. He rolls into a town and has to rehearse with each pick-up band, leaving little time for live interviews.
We did take advantage of his offer to do an e-mail interview, however, and here are the results:
THE DESERT SUN: Rather than use your own band, you're using a local orchestra in each city. What are the advantages/disadvantages of this kind of set for you as a performer? Do you think it keeps you more on top of your game to have to adjust to each band rather than becoming settled with your own band?
CLAY AIKEN: We carry our own pianist and drummer with us. We are playing with local symphony orchestras. These are amazingly talented people. It's great to be able to work with new people because it does keep the show fresh. And, it's great to see how much talent there is throughout America.
TDS: How has your outlook on performing changed in the past five years?
AIKEN: I think I appreciate the opportunity to do it now. It's so much fun to put a new show together. Still, it's more exciting for me to sort of present that to fans. I imagine I have gotten far more comfortable over the years too.
TDS: If Paula, Randy or Simon dropped out as an "A.I." judge and you were asked to fill the vacancy, would you? What about being a coach for another "Idol" hopeful?
AIKEN: Oh, I'd love to be a judge. I think they should consider adding a former contestant - someone who knows what it is like to be on that very stage.
TDS: What's next for you? A new CD? Are you interested in doing stage or film work? More guest co-hosting on "Live With Regis and Kelly?"
AIKEN: I like to remain open to any opportunities. Pretty much everything positive that has come my way has happened when I "let go and let God." So I don't predict too much. I know we will begin to work on the next CD in the next several months. And anything else that presents itself I hope that I am able to approach it with an open and willing mind. Pic of a group of fans from Japan that came to the San Diego Concert Last night! Aren't they adorable!! All Clay fans know that Clay is afraid of the water. This is where he performed last night! | |

| Clay Aiken on love songs, hair dye and Lenox By DAVID GRAVES - Quote :
- The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Published on: 08/03/2007
Clay Aiken is a riot. There's something genuinely comedic about the singer, care-free and, well, likable.
The Season 2 "American Idol" runner-up to the Velvet Teddy Bear Ruben Studdard has sold more records than any other "American Idol" alum besides Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood. And this guy's tours sell out around the country.
So, yeah, consider him likable.
Now, the crooner's latest tour brings Aiken back to the ATL, where he first auditioned for "Idol" back in 2003. He'll be backed by the ASO at Chastain and will include cuts off his CD releases "Measure of a Man" and his latest, "A Thousand Different Ways."
We caught up with Aiken recently during a tour stop in San Diego.
You dyed you hair. What's up with that? It started on "American Idol" and they wanted to change my image. I don't even know what color it is now. We just try everything — it could be beach blond next!
What can we expect from the tour? We've had so much fun with this tour. It's mostly cuts from my new album. We sing past love songs over the past 20 years, and we also bring sexy back with "1999," "Baby Got Back" ... all with a full orchestra. It'll be fun and the audience should get a kick out of it.
Since you've found fame and fortune, what did you do with your first big check? My first major purchase was a Volvo [laughter]. I'm such a dork! I didn't want to be too ostentatious, and I wanted something safe and reliable ... I also paid off my mom's car.
Where do you plan to hang out when you get to Atlanta. People around me love Lenox. I love Fogo de Chao ... I always have to get back to the corner on Spring Street where I spent the night for my ["American Idol"] auditions at Merchandise Mart. So I'll try to get back over there. | |

- he AJC caught up with “American Idol” runner-up Clay Aiken last week. He was in rehearsals for a show in San Diego but took about 15 minutes to talk with us about his tour and what to expect during his show here Aug. 15 at Chastain.
We found Aiken to be fun, funny — and a fast talker. He said he’s really enjoying the tour and is feeling much more comfortable as an entertainer. He said in the music industry he’s learned to watch out for himself more, be more assertive and protect his interests.
As far as becoming a celebrity, he’d much rather simply surround himself with people who really care about him — like the folks on his tour — and his family. He says that’s why he got out of L.A. and built a house in North Carolina.
Aiken noted he doesn’t fit the L.A. mold and he’s too much of a nerd to hang with popular socialites.
And who does he keep in touch with from “A.I.”? “I have Kelly [Clarkson]” and Ruben [Studdard] in my cellphone.” | |

| Another good review! Very nice. Notacanuck from the CH found this from the Desert Local News: desertlocalnews.com/defau...ws&he=.com Clay Aiken And His Orchestra: An Exciting Evening At Fantasy Springs By Leslie Andrews 07.AUG.07 - Quote :
- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Clay Aiken, best known from his American Idol fame, performed a knock-out show with his orchestra behind him at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino Sunday evening.
Aiken wowed crowds with mostly covers, but of recognizable tunes, like Paul Young’s “Every Time You Go Away”, Michael Jackson’s “The Way You Make Me Feel”, Badfinger’s “Without You”, Foreigner’s “I Want To Know How Love Is”, and other well-known ballads. Between acts, Aiken told a few jokes and made audiences laugh. He and his backup singers even paid tribute to the Golden Age of Television with a medley of television theme songs.
Fans from all over California and all over the world came to see Aiken perform. Thirteen women from Japan flew out here just to see him, and then follow him all across the United States. “We love Clay,” said Mariko, one of the lucky thirteen. “He is very popular in Japan. We’re going to see him in North Carolina next.”
“He is hilarious, he is entertaining,” said Carrie Salensner from Los Angeles. “If people would come to one of his concerts, they will instantly love him.”
Barbara White of San Diego agreed. “He is amazing, and a wonderful singer,” she says.
Originally from Raleigh, North Carolina, Aiken began singing with the Raleigh Boychoir in his early teens. He studied at University of North Carolina in Charolette and while working part-time as a tutor for a boy with autism, he was encouraged to audition for American Idol.
Although he came in second place during the second season of Idol in 2003, Aiken was signed to RCA records and then released three albums, including “Measure of a Man”, “Merry Christmas With Love” and “A Thousand Different Ways”. Although most of his songs include covers, he has had a few original tunes that he had lyrically written.
In September 2006 Aiken was appointed to the Presidential Committee for People with Intellectual Disabilities. He also is an ambassador of the Ronald McDonald House and is also a dedicated advocate for education and for children's causes. | |

Some 3,000 tickets were originally available for the concert on the South Terrrace lawn at Biltmore and just a few scattered seats remained Tuesday, with none expected to be available at the gate by Saturday.
Aiken, a Raleigh native who is playing his first Asheville show, has a wildly devoted audience. Some fans follow the entertainer from concert to concert. Aiken will be backed here by members of the Asheville Symphony Orchestra.
Biltmore is asking fans who want to dance at the show to step to the side of the seating area, so they won’t block other’s views of the stage.

| There is this very sweet girl on The Clay Board who lives in England. She adores Clay and has dreamt of seeing him in concert for over 4 years. Well her dream finally came true this past weekend and she got to go to the shows in California. Her recap is just adorable! - Quote :
- I landed in Arizona, jetlagged and tired after 26 hours travelling and numerous delays. I spotted Ineedaclaybotomy and Sculptress, aka THE Ditzy Chicks and Renee4clay conspiring in the corner, having not noticed me arriving. They were wearing HUGE sombreros so I tapped them on the shoulder and they nearly died of fright! After much laughing I donned my hat, complete with lots of little green aliens (thats me! ) and picked up my case..my Clay Adventure was about to start!
Renee held a great Claypalooza (sp),in which I met some awesome ClayFriends. The highlight was Karaoeke and I will never listen to Deliah sang in the same way again (you know who you are D*T!!!!!) I guest starred on a Ditzy Chick song, which, I think, mocks my English Voice, but hey...all fun!
Our Roadtrip started in San Diego. 6 of us hired a van and off we went - first stop Embercardo....
SAN DIEGO
Huge gratitude to Spartus for arranging the Pre-Party! I walked in and spotted many straight away...my US friends, my Kiwi buddies, my Las Vegas buddies, Brit friends, Canadian friends, my Singapore friends...very humbling experience to think Clay had bought us from EVERY corner of the world - what a man The venue was spectacular, awesome, beautiful. We had great seats, courtesy of Sculptress , and sat with a couple of people from CV, who were shocked that someone from the UK had flown over. As the music started my heart was pounding so loudly, I felt embarrassed that people could hear...omg,omg,omg....lightheadedness, dizzy, drunk of adrenaline, I thought I would pass out with excitement and miss the show. Angela, Quiana and Jesse all walked out but I was oblivious..THEN ....IN.COMES.CLAY...
My legs turned to jelly and I had to hold Sculptress for support, spilling the entire contents of the Champagne on the table all over the CV people ...gulp...they said it didnt matter, as they wiped it off their faces. Obviously not the first time its happened! OMGGGGGGG...he was.gaaaahhh.....gorgeous, drop dead, absol-freakin-lutely gorgeous. He oozed charisma, charm and an aura that literally took my breath away.If I hadnt of sat down at that point, I would of fallen.
I waited in the Handshake line as Jerome skipped us around the basketball field and the guys who stopped playing were getting excited, as they said AKON was coming (hmmm..didnt have the heart to say its AIKEN , they seemed genuinely excited, so I didnt spoil the fun!) I got a CLAYHAND...*dies* and some eye contact *dies a little more*....if the ground had swallowed me up at that point, I would of died happy..
PALA
What a venue! From the soundcheck we watched from our suite (omgggggggg...grand suite like nothing I've seen before) to the craziness of the WillCall line in which, it seems, everybodies name in the US starts with the letters A-H, cause the other lines were empty . Clay sauntered out on stage, angelic in white, and the ClayFog started to appear again. Renee and I looked at each other and every so often eeeeeeekk with excitement, only spoiled by an EXTREMELY loud cellcerter next to me(I love cellcerts but this lady was so loud, the man on the opposite section yelled as well! From Clay singing to FlatClay in the window and Clay's wicked sense of humour on top form that night, it was a beautiful sight to behold. I met many of you on that night... ...thank you soo much for coming to talk to me - I was kinda overawed and embarrassed at approaching people as you all seemed to know each other so well. So please don't think I was "uppity" as some one called me (a joke, cause she said she didnt recognise my accent and thought I was just an uppity clayfan! )
"NO LINE TONIGHT GUYS" - waaaaahhhhhhh I was getting addicted at this point....
THE GREEK THEATRE
Row J, off the side...I didnt care, my roadtrip was shaping up to be the most singlehandly best experience of my life, I was cruising on Aiken Love. I finished talking to Clayniac2 and as we came in to take our seats, Renee pulled me over and said
"No Kim, we are in here".. "where, what do you mean?" "here, in the pits" "uh-no" "uh-yes....Front row, centre" "NO.WAY." "YES, KIM, YES" OMG..OMG..No, not happening, thuuuuuuuuuuuuuud
Thanks to the kindness of Renee in getting the seats, the rest really was a fog. Clay Aiken directly under my nose, living breathing Clay standing 48 inches away. Those long, lean legs within touching distance, those long toes as close as mine are to me, the eyes that danced around and twinkled, the eyelashes that fluttered up and down like feathers caught on a breeze, the strong, muscular neck that moved with each tender note.
Clay Aiken is a Phenomonon - pure and simple. Ever nuance was a joy, every delicious look and glance my way made me feel like a girl on my first date, every hipthrust and movement had me praying that he couldnt read my mind. Every song, he sang to me..to me and me alone. I blocked everyone else out..this was my moment and I wasnt prepared to share him, not one Iota..
He left and I felt hollow. 2 decadent hours with Mr Aiken and I felt like someone had abducted him. Come back Clay I ran to the buses and waited for what seemed an eternity and was taken aback by what seemed to be the longest bus line I have EVER seen in my life. Even Jerome was taken aback by the size and muttered something under his breath and laughed. They made poor Clay walk the entire line from the back first, no golf cart, just all uphill. I managed a DOUBLE handshake this time and once again eye contact, as I said thank you...I felt 16 and like the dorky kid I once was. It was a spilt section look but his eyes are engrained in my soul now...
You are right..every single one of you. We all have different perceptions of Clay, we all see Clay in our own way. But one thing is for sure..we all GET IT. We dont have to explain it to each other. I find comfort in knowing I'm not mad, foolish, irresponsible, crazy, (all words that have been used by friends to explain my actions)...
Thank you Clay. My first concert experience is one I will cherish forever, along with the times I shared with my new friends. All the nervousness about meeting fans....well, it was like coming home...thank you all for making me so welcome, especially my roadtrippers, Ineeda, Scully, Claygal, Iauda and Renee..
HOW DO YOU GET BACK TO REAL LIFE THO

| Here is a pic of the ring given to Clay at the M&G in Pala. It was designed by one of the fans. Here is the story! (I think the ring, the saying/meaning, and the fact that it is made of titanium is awesome!) - Quote :
- Three words wrapped around his finger. . .Clay's ring
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There seems to be a lot of questions about the new ring that Clay is wearing. I'd like to answer them so rumors don't get started. I've seen a lot of wrong information out there.
I designed the ring as a gift for Clay as he seemed to miss playing with his ring. Because I thought he would not simply buy another after auctioning his off I felt it needed to be a gift somehow. The ring was sent to him by 4 fans, MorganRowan, Kitty4Clay, Clay'sAngel43 and MsIdolfan. They can share thier real names if they would like. We are all members of a board named Clay Aiken Please Click Here. In the card I told Clay it was his to play with and no feelings would be hurt if he did not wear it. He has chosen to wear it and of course we are all thrilled with that. Clay really loves his fans.
I can answer any questions you may have. I'll answer some of the most common here along the way.
No, we did not give it directly to Clay.
I guessed at his ring size. ( guessed real good too )
The ring is engraved on the outside. It says ' Use Your Voice ' in Latin.
Utor Vestri Vox
Three words wrapped around his finger.
I choose Latin because it looks interesting and will make people say . . . what does your ring say . . . at which point Clay can tell them and share his message. If it simply said Use Your Voice that opportunity would be lost.
The ring is also inscribed in Latin on the inside. I can not at this point tell you what it says because Clay does not know. (unless he's figured it out ) It's a rather challenging phrase for him to play with for awhile. I told him in the card that I would give him a few weeks to decipher it. I promise all of you that you will love what it says on the inside as it is a message from each and every one of us.
(If I have told you what it says PLEASE do not post it here just yet where he can see it)
The ring is Titanium and has two grooves that run on the top and bottom of the engraving and I believe that's what is catching the light. The ring sparkles and glints off the stage more than I ever imagined. If you've been to a recent concert, you might have noticed how it catches the light and shines making many believe it has diamonds in it. It does not - its simply engraved. I wish Clay could see how it glints off the lights and how cool it looks.
You can post questions here or email me. I cant answer a lot of pms and seldom check for them so please use my email.
