I don't have time right now, but later when I can I will tell you what it was all about. It had to do with radio play, sales, TV appearances, PR etc. He seemed to be trying to settle down the fans who are upset about things and blaming RCA for a lot of stuff.

It's funny, but I hear people say all the time that they don't like Clay's music at all, but they enjoy watching him doing the talk shows.

I voted for him in both his categories last night too. Also for Hannah and the show in their categories. I wasn't sure if you had to vote in all categories in order for your vote to count so to be on the safe side, I voted in every category.

Great Badger! I did the same thing too! I love Hannah! She has been so nice to and about Clay and his fans!

One thng that's always bothered me a bit is that Clay has done 4 CDs and yet no one who has ever worked with him on them has ever been quoted in a complimentary way about Clay. People who work with Kelly are always raving about her voice and how it challenges them to do all these great things in the studio. Chris Daughtry got a lot of praise from people who co-wrote songs with him for his debut CD. Even Bo got some love from people who worked on his first CD. But with Clay it's almost like working with him is a stigma and people would rather you not know about it.

I'm not saying I expect every single person who works with Clay on a CD to come out and praise him to the skies, but why is it he can't even get a "His music's not for me, but man he sure can sing" out of anyone?

On the other hand, he did a fairly short stint on Broadway, and the people he worked with (especially Hannah) seemed to think he did a great job.

I have wondered about the same thing. Things have been really depressing about Clay and Clive, RCA, PR, promo, all of it. What is going on with the promo for his new CD? He is already done with it for now. Home with his doggies. His only dedication on the CD is "this is for the fans", and no tour scheduled. I just don't get what is really going on behind the scenes.

FWIW, I think certain people do feel it is a stigma and I totally blame the media and all the crap and ridicule that they throw at Clay. I also blame them for his dwindling fanbase. I mean could anything be more uncool than being a Clay fan? So I guess it is equally uncool to work with him in the recording field. Broadway? It is wonderful to work with him. I guess those people do not fear being seen as uncool.

If you remember a few months ago, I mentioned the concern I had about having no tour planned. When I made that remark, it seemed to me that his label was dropping the ball. But if he wanted to take a rest for awhile and then tour, maybe that didn't please the label.

Clay still has an enormous fanbase IMO - but you can't help what happens when new people come on the scene. People now are focusing on David Cook - that's bound to take some attention off of Clay. But he will reinvent himself at some point and be back with something else big and new. No worries about Clay for me!

I hope you are right. His sales for this CD are really low - at least by Clay standards. Rubin was dropped for selling twice what this CD sold.

There has been talk he will tour in the fall, but lately he just says he has no tour plans. So I don't know what is going on there. I do 100% believe the "hared core" fanbase has really shrunk. His new CD of all new material opened at less than half of what his cover CD opened at

I really don't think its Clay, I think its the industry itself. This past year I've read many articles about how CD sales are down in most markets. Country music is an exception.

However, the tour would be a question in my mind as well. If Clay can get out on tour, his CD will sell better. But its expensive to tour. The really big shows like Mariah and the Stones, they do well. But for the average singer, touring has become a major problem.

The music industry is in a huge state of flux right now.

True, sales are down for everyone. Country does seem to have some the most success right now. Clay's from North Carolina - he should have made a country CD
