| Actually she is only 45 or 46. She was married for 23 years and never had a baby. She divorced her husband about one year after working with Clay. They are extremely close and I have always wondered if there was more between them. She is always at his home for the holidays. I have no clue if they really are just friends and she wanted a kid now and asked Clay to be the father, or if their is something more between them.
Clay has openly discussed how very much he wants to be a dad.
I guess I am happy for them. I really wanted Clay to find the perfect young woman, fall madly in love, have a gorgeous wedding and have lots of healthy little ones! But I am sure they thought this all out and I wish them the best.

| Never a dull moment in the Clay fandom, is there. Really, I wasn't on the boards at all today and fully expected to do a quick runthrough of Clay message boards and then spend the rest of my internet time reading about Jason Castro Day this afternoon. So much for those plans.
I wonder when or if we'll be getting any more details? I have to say Clay doesn't seem to be the type to make this kind of life changing decision without being in a relationship but so far all the press indicates that this is a good friend helping out another good friend situation.

| Badger, this is not what I expected from Clay at all. He always seemed to be very traditional. Maybe being almost 30 he thought he didn't want to wait for the right one and the right time to be a dad.
He always said he wanted to be a really good dad and not be like his bio dad, so I certainly always thought he would have the traditional family and live with his children.
I will say this news has certainly been one big surprise!

| You aren't kidding! I can't help but love that there is a little Aiken baby on the way! I love the little guy already! It's not how I dreamed it for him, but it's his life. I will admit I cannot wait to see pix of Clay and his little one! I hope he/she has red hair and freckles!! That baby is going to hear some gorgeous lullabies when it is bedtime. Well, at least sometimes, when Clay is there. I assume they won't live together but I know Clay will be there as much as he can. | |

| I wonder so many things! Was it really AI? What is their real relationship? How do they feel about how the news broke? Were they planning on telling the world? Maybe they hoped to keep it private? Is this really the exciting news Faye talked about? Is traditional and religious mom really happy about this? But mostly I want to know (if they are not lovers in a relationship) did Jaymes want this and ask Clay? OR did Clay want this and ask Jaymes? He has been talking about wanting to be a dad and maybe even adopting for a couple years now. Fans seem to be thinking it was Jaymes clock ticking. Maybe it was Clay who asked her to do this for him. | |

| firecracker, that's what I want to know. Whose idea was it? Given Jaymes' age - which could be anywhere from 44 to 50 - I can't imagine this was a decision that was made lightly. I mean, I'm 50 and I couldn't imagine having a baby for someone no matter how close a friend he was. Heck, I couldn't imagine doing it if I was 20 or 30. | |

| I agree. She is rather old to be doing this. I actually think she is doing this for Clay and he will be the primary caregiver and the baby will live with him. Like I said, he said in People he wants to be a dad more than anything. She was married 23 years and didn't feel the need to have a child (unless her hubby was the one who didn't want one) so why would she seek out Clay to have one now at her age? Nope, I am thinking this is for Clay. But I am with you, I would not take on having a child for someone at that age. I'd do it for a sister (if I had one) when I was young Honestly, I cannot even imagine having a new born at that age I was in my early 30s having my boys and I thought I was old then Cannot wait for Clay do give someone an interview about this! I foresee a People cover!! Lord knows he can't get a cover just on his talent | |

| FWIW, the Foster spokesman is now saying he was misquoted and someone else close to David Foster is saying Jaymes is definitely pregnant but that Clay had nothing to do with it. | |

I was working where I didn't have computer access since yesterday, so I'm just catching up. I heard that this story made People magazine on this morning's news. Sometimes people who haven't had children earlier in their lives regret it and do something to change it. That might be the case here. However, I am sorry for the intrusion on either of their privacy in this matter.

| You aren't kidding! But TMZ is nothing but sleeze I read they have spies at medical facilities just for these purposes. How low can you go?! I really feel for them if they wanted this kept quiet until after the baby was born or longer. There has been no word from Clay's camp yet, so we don't really know the truth at all. Sadly, I read E! is doing a profile on Jaymes tonight I hope this does not upset her too much. Being older and pregnant I bet she needs to not stress out too much. | |

Let's hope the lady is so happy at this point that these exposes don't affect her.

| Artificial insemination has absolutely nothing to do with sexual orientation. Given her age, it could have been the best way to ensure pregnancy. And even if Clay is gay, it still could have been the method they used because it was the best way to ensure pregnancy.
Congratulations to Clay, Hannah and Spamalot for their wins. I wonder if Clay will show up for the luncheon.

Total sleeze and the media loves gossip!! It could be that Clay will be the godfather of the child and whoever gave TMZ the information did not hear correctly. Either way, true or not, I don't have any confidence in information coming from that source. On another subject - I think this CD is his best work yet.

| If that is what he wants to do good for him. I've always liked Clay even though he is not normally what I like , Trent Reznor is, But I still like him. Hey I'm 42 and I would have another baby if the hubster agreed ,so good for her. | |

| Hi Janice! Good to see you! I agree! Clay's new CD is fantastic! He sounds amazing on it! Great songs too! I agree that when it comes to this story, the fact that it came from TMZ, means we don't have any idea what the truth is. I'm on wait and see really. I agree with Badger that at her age it could easily be the only way to get pregnant. Many woman in the 40s who want to get pregnant need medical assistance. But, I will not lie and say that I haven't considered the possibility that this is the only way for Clay to have a biological child because marrying a woman and having one the natural way just might not be in the cards for him. I do not know if he is gay, I will not state that he is gay since I do not know him, but I will say that if this story is completely true it does have me thinking that it could simply be that he is, and really wants a child. If she is doing this from him (instead of him doing this for her) than I must say she is one remarkable friend! If she is the one that wanted the child, I am surprised she didn't go with an anonymous donor or a friend closer in age. Remember, Clay did call Vernon just his "sperm donor", so it does surprise me that Clay would also be a "sperm donor", though I do know that Clay would be a great father to this child, unlike his own biological father. I do wish that Clay, his team, or Jaymes would make some comment about the situation. It is EVERYWHERE and most everywhere is quoting TMZ as their source. Can you believe that now TMZ would be considered a legitimate source for news? Aerwin I so wish hubby would agree! You are an awesome mom and that would be so fun for you now that your son is all grown up! We talked about having a third, but felt we would not be able to afford to put three through college, so we stopped at two. | |
