American Idol

No, I think Blake had his best night ever! He sang Roxanne per Paula's choice. Producers pick Maroon 5's This Love. Blake chose a really good song by Robin Thicke titled When I get you Alone. I never heard Robin's version, but Blake's was great.

SB, Blake had a great night with a lot of praise from the judges, but Jordin and Melinda really wailed and did super jobs.

I really think Melinda deserves to win, but Jordin should do really well in the future. I think Blake has a promising future too.

Well, Melinda gives solid performances every time. I don't think I have ever heard a bad note, but I still seldom find her all that exciting. If she wins it will be interesting to see how she does sales wise. Taylor was so popular the whole season last year and I have been shocked by his sales - both CD and concert. I myself think if Melinda wins she will do even worse. I just don't see a lot of "It Factor" with her, or buzz. In my RL the people who watch are like me in that they think she sings great but they don't really care. They don't really care that much about anybody this year. So who wins and how they do should be interesting to keep my eye on. I think both Blake or Jordin stand a better chance at radio play or getting vids on MTV/VH1. I just wonder what direction they will take Melinda.

Clive Davis did not pick a song this year, or judge on final 3 night, or even show up for final 3 night. I have a feeling he is not interested in this group and that probably does not bode well for any of them.

DailIdol has Blake and Jordin way too close to call. That can go either way. I guess Melinda is the sure thing so there goes my Blake/Jordin finale fantasy Last year's finale was so good what with the great top ten and Clay's surprise appearance. I think this year's is going to be a big yawn in comparison unless TPTB have some great guest stars lined up.

Wow, not a good sign heading into the finale. I have a feeling nobody is very excited about this group. What a shame TPTB didn't make sure they had a better "cast"

Yeah the ratings are way down aren't they? I think Idol maybe on the down swing. Unless they have an extraordinary group next year, but we will see.
I would like a Blake/ Melinda finale. I think at this point though they all have a shot at a contract, don't you? Blake was great last night . Jordin is SO YOUNG she has a long career ahead of her.

ITA with you and very well put BTW! I wonder if AI will move away from the Clive influence and try to get some more youthful direction in the future. He did not do well with any of last season's artists other than Chris. And I wonder how much input he really had with the production of his album.

Luca, Chris said he sang Home acoustic to Clive and Clive let him do whatever he wanted and got him what he needed so I don't think he had much imput at all. Some of the songs were written before he even made the album. He wrote Home the week before he left to be on idol. I am glad! The CD is awesome without Clive.

I hope that site is correct too! You know last year it was right when it had the Chris/Kat showdown. It showed her ahead a little bit and it turned out to be true!

What a fun finale. YAY! I do think Melinda's voice is amazing but I don't see the Idol appeal. That other site is always right on the money. I can't believe I forgot about it!

I just watched it. My mouth is still open in shock. I feel bad for Melinda.

Warning - Perhaps unpopular opinions ahead: I'm sorry; IMO her voice is just so much better than Blake's. He seems like a really nice guy and I like the beat-boxing stuff, but his voice just isn't really that great. I know she's kinda boring, but she deserved to be in the final.

Carrie had the best voice in AI 4 and, I'm sorry, she defined boring to me. Just robotic and didn't know what the heck she was singing about. And yet she won.

And I loved Elliott last year and couldn't stand either Kat or Taylor (still can't.) I guess I am just not in the mainstream, but I already suspected that!

Austin, we know Melinda's voice was the best of the season. Possibly a few seasons. Like I said, the only voice I think was as pure and right-on in every performance, was Clay.

This is not a "singing competition". This is for the whole package. Blake has a "good voice" but is interesting. He is young and cute and can be marketed. He has a different style than ANY OTHER Idol contestant. They've had the traditional rocker, the crooners and, most of all, the DIVAS. They haven't had a poppy alt-rock guy who's just adorable and actually has his own style. Hell, he may win this thing. Who knows.

So, yeah, we're all in agreement that Melinda WAS the BEST singer in the competition - just not all that marketable.

Yeah, I agree. I was still shocked. Maybe if she had a neck she would have done better. It'll be interesting to see what happens.

Blake and Jordin!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not an exciting season, so it really makes no difference to me who actually wins. Melinda was great, just not marketable to the people who were voting! She will be a success!

Both Blake and Jordin are marketable! Neither my kind of music, but who knows.....I'll listen to what they record and then decide.

Well, out of the 3 of them, Blake actually sings more my type of music, so it's kinda funny that I didn't really want him in the finals. Well, it'll be interesting to see what he does. I think it'll be the most original final ever. Can you imagine him singing one of those puppies and rainbows coronation songs? : )

Just got the results. Awww.

Melinda really has an excellent voice. But she ain't a star.

Neither are the other two, so it will be interesting to see how AI works itself out next time around...they really do need to up the personality factor.

Well I was shocked she went home. I was sad about it. I guess I was one of few that liked her. I think overall she was better than Jordin. So I hope Blake wins.
Overall this has been a meh season. I'm not sure I'll watch next week. Simon is NOT happy. I do think Melinda deserved to be there.

Aerwin, I loved Melinda. She is better than Jordin. Unfortunately, it was Melinda's personality that did her in. She just didn't have enough of it.

I think Melinda's personality was just starting to come out, but it was too late. Her likeability factor did come out last night when they aired her visit in her home town.

Too bad, but like we all know-the singers that sing the classics and have more of a retro singing style-do not usually win AI or if they do, they don't sell many records. I see her showing up on Broadway and doing really well.
