| It was the same with Latoya in season 3. Great voice, pretty lady, no personality - even less than Melinda IMHO. I think you need to really grab people's mind, heart and spirit to get them to sit by the phone and dial for you repeatedly for hours. Melinda just didn't do that, at least not for enough people. Let's face it, the teen girls and tweenies LOVE to text - and all those votes go thru. Jordin and Blake are right up their ally too. Did you SEE those young girls go crazy at Blake's homecoming? I think TPTB are thrilled with this outcome. Both Blake and Jordin are young and marketable and appealing. I really enjoy Blake's personality. He was adorable and fun in his "going home" vids. I am really going to enjoy the finale of this season, even though this was not a great season, because I think the two best possible people to win this season are in the final two and either one will "wear the crown" really well. No stress this year because I love them both and will be happy either way and I think they will both get to make youthful and current CDs and videos. They both seem like great kids and I wish them both all the best. (I really couldn't stand Kat last year and dreaded the thought of her winning - mean I know) So just a fun Tues. and Weds. for me this week with no worries or sick tummy! | |

- I read at TwoP that Blake won the coin toss and he let Jordin choose whether she wanted to go 1st or 2nd. She chose to go 2nd.
If true it was very sweet of him. Kinda dumb though, as I think he should have taken the chance to go second himself, but it was still very gentlemanly of him. I read he was the one to give the girls the flowers last night

| From ONTD: - Quote :
- Learning that her journey on American Idol had ended Wednesday night was "the first time that I had taken a breath in a really long time," Melinda Doolittle said Thursday.
"Knowing that I had made it this far and knowing that I was going to be able to sing from here on out without being judged and voted, it was just like this sigh of relief," she told Ryan Seacrest on his morning radio show. "Now I'm getting ready to sing just because I love it."
The former backup singer called Seacrest's 102.7 KIIS FM show and told the host that she didn't feel any resentment after being voted off – despite receiving immense and consistent praise from all three Idol judges.
"Two amazing people are in the finale right now and I couldn't be more proud of them," Doolittle, 29, said, referring to finalists Jordin Sparks, 17, and Blake Lewis, 25, who will compete in the finale next week. "Those are still my babies. I'm still their mama. I'm so proud about it and don't feel cheated at all. There are always opportunities out there to grab onto and to take a hold of so I'm just ready for that."
And, according to Doolittle, Simon Cowell may be prepared to help her find the right opportunity. "Simon was especially supportive and said, 'I want to see you succeed,' " she told Seacrest. That means the world to me so it was great to hear last night."
The ousted Idol also admitted that the rigorous process of rehearsals, performances and getting judged on live television week after week was difficult. "I felt like I was working so hard and when [the judges] would say good things I was so excited to hear it, it would just put this look of shock on my face."
That isn't the only thing that shocked Doolittle, who said that the level of fame and recognition she has achieved so far also surprised her. "Nothing could have prepared me for this. I knew that the show was huge. I did not know that it was this huge," she said. "The fact that it has awarded such a big opportunity to me is just the most amazing thing ever."
Unfortunately, Doolittle doesn't have much time to relax. She and the other finalists start rehearsals Thursday for next week's two-hour finale. She seems very sweet. I hope Simon takes care of her.

| You'er welcome Aerwin! She has a great voice and I do hope you can make a good living doing what she loves and does so well. She wasn't quite my cuppa, but she has a beautiful instrument.
Glad you are pulling for Blake now. The two 4th grade girls in my daycare said today that they are so excited about him being in the final two with Jordin! They said they LOVE him! So cute! They love Jordin too. See, I knew those were the two that the youngins would go for! They think Jordin is just beautiful and they love her hair!

| It's funny. For a while now I've been saying it will be a Jordin/Blake finale with Jordin winning. Suddenly I'm feeling Blake may win this thing. I don't know. I'm with most of you in that I'm not really emotionally invested in either one, so I'll be happy if either wins.
I agree Melinda was just starting to come into her own and looked darn pretty elimination night. I felt so bad for her. I saw a clip on Jay Leno where she said she stopped reading about herself on the internet because people were saying things like she looked like Shrek. She's a lovely girl.
I agree about the LaToya comparison.
The one who wound up breaking my heart was Nadia.

| Nigel got what he wanted. Rumor is Jordin was a contestant on American Juniors back a few years ago. She's a ringer. Blake... Blake, for all that he's not really a very good vocalist, is one of the few contestants they've ever had who is not cookie cutter, who truly makes his own way. I think he's going to be successful whether he wins or not next week.
Actually, I think that Jordin will be treated as the winner of AI and Blake will be the runnerup no matter what the votes say. Last year established a new precedent; damn the rankings, 19E will do what it wants to do in promoting the contestants.

Oh..........I care!!!!!!!!!!!! I love Chris Daughtry! Watching next week's show will be worth it to see him perform! I'm definitely going to try to watch Ellen on the 23rd, being away from home, might make that difficult though! Oh, yes, I care!!!!!!!!!!!

FC, I don't know what happened to Nadia. She's a friend on my myspace, so I should check it out. At the finale she didn't even have any family there. Just the mom of one of her former roommmates who I sat next to. I told her how much I loved Nadia and thought she'd be in the finale.

Blake Encore - You Give Love a Bad Name (Bon Jovi) Personal choice - She Will Be Loved (Maroon 5) Coronation song
Jordin - Encore - Broken Wing (Martina McBride) Personal choice - Fighter (Christina Aguilera) Coronation song

| OMG, Blake is so screwed having to sing that awful, sappy song. Jordin will bring the house down with it though. Guess I will be dialing my fingers to the bone as I'm watching DWTS Yep, she blew the rough off AND cried Your winner America! It is probably better Blake doesn't win because that would be his first single OK, that was a very rotten thing for Simon to say I'm sorry I've forgiven Simon for a lot of shit he has said, but what a really horrible thing to do to Blake on his big night. Shame on you Simon. | |

I agree FC! I loved Blake's Maroon 5. That is one of my top 5 favorite songs! I didn't know he was singing it. All I have to say is how can you compare Blake/Jordin on that last song because that was so not fair. That song sucks as bad as all the other corny sh!t that has been used before. That is a girl's song..no doubt. I think Blake is better off not winning because people would treat Jordin like the winner anyway.

| I agree SB. I stopped voting at 10:00 central time. I'm watching the news instead I really enjoyed Blake tonight and I would have probably preferred he win over Jordin (even though I really like her a lot too) but THAT song would be his first single and he would have to sing it EVERYWHERE he goes after the show for quite some time. You could tell he didn't like/enjoy performing the song. That's why I stopped voting. I think maybe not winning is best for him. Then maybe his first single can be something more his style - fun and hip and not that awful crap they stick these kids with. They are sooooooooooooooooo geared toward big voiced women/crooners. Clay could have pulled that song off, but not any other male AI contestants that I can think of. Chris looked and sounded great tonight! I really think I will be getting his CD soon. I am thinking about getting the new Maroon 5 also. I think Chris is the perfect example of why sometimes it is better not to win. The thought of Chris singing "Do I Make You Proud" makes me and probably makes Chris So for all we know Blake is on his knees praying not to win. | |

| HA! Chris singing "Do I Make You Proud" makes me want to pee my pants! He actually said his song would of been different but he never said what it was. He didn't act like he was in love with it either.
I am in LUV with Daughty and that CD. I.CAN'T.STOP. LISTENING.TO.IT!!! I like Home best when Chris does it just him and the guitar like at the concert I attended. Chill bumps!
Oh, he won a TV writer's award for Home..already..so weird. It won because it is used on American Idol. YAY!
I would prefer Blake too, and I like Jordin but that song..just no. He is way better off being #2. More people will want to get behind him and support him. Like what happened with Chris but I don't think Blake or Jordin will sell like Daughtry. JMHO!

| I'll bet Nigel picked that coronation song. He has been pulling for Jordin and it's pretty obvious that it did not fit Blake's voice and style AT ALL. What a farce!
I wanted to see Blake win this, but I agree that it would be better for him not to win if he will have to record and perform that crappy song. I think he will be very successful in the music industry without winning the title. He can write, produce, and play instruments as well as sing.
Daughtry is coming back here in September - YAY! I'll be there!

| I don't think so either SB. I was just reading a recap from one of the posters at The Clack House who was at the show tonight. Usually tix are hard to come by for the finals/finale. I know I saw a lot of empty seats on TV up in the high balcony. Well, they went there without tix just to see who was hanging around etc. and a man was handing out envelopes to anyone who walked by. Each envelope had 4 tix in it. They were trying to herd people in. So the poster and friend got in and got good seats. She goes every year and never saw it like that before. She said there was no buzz outside the theater, like nobody cared. Just not much buzz this season. Last night's ratings for DWTS was higher than AI's top 3 week. Either the show is losing steam or people just never got into anybody this season. I cannot wait to see how ratings for the AI finale compare to the DWTS finale. Maybe if AI gets really beat in the ratings this year they will get a really good cast for next year. There does not even seem to be a lot of big names for the finale tomorrow night. Last year had so many big stars. They do have Kelly, Carrie and Taylor so that is nice. I have read some reports that Kat will be there and than reports she won't be there. Well, nothing they do tomorrow would top Clay's walking out in his new "do" IMHO!! And of course some guy named Prince was on Hi Janice! Good to see you! So who will be watching "So You Think You Can Dance?"!!! | |

| I sort of watched AI tonight...did not have enough interest to really pay attention. I wish both contestants well, but I would never go to see either one of them on purpose. But, truth be told, I would not go to see any of this year's contestant on purpose. Last years contestant, I did not want to go see, but I do like to listen to Daughtry.
I am watching Dancing with the Stars now, and do not want to be spoiled, so I won't go into that thread until the show is over here.

| OK, usually you can't even get tickets for a REGULAR show during the season that's going on. Like, I ordered tickets for asswipe's season, but they didn't come through for me until the next season with like final five. We had actual tickets but couldn't even get in. Turns out if that happens they give you VIP tickets for the next week (which explained why we didn't get in the first week we came: we were behind the real VIP's and the people who didn't get tickets the week before).
To go to the FINALE at the Kodak during asswipe's year, I had to be a seat filler.
So, yeah, that they could just go down there and get tickets for F-2 is really something!

I don't really care which one wins, I do have a feeling it will be Jordin though. The one that doesn't win will be better off anyway.
I'm so glad I got to see Chris perform "Home" though. I love his new CD!!! What a winner, and he didn't win Idol!

| Well, all the spoiler sites have Jordin as the winner and I am sure that's the case. Zaba (the best spoiler site) states that Blake had been the highest vote getter up until last week, but that Jordin had probably gotten the Melinda and Lakiki votes to help put her over him at the end. Makes sense. They are pretty much the same type of singers. I agree with you Sky. Blake will be better off NOT having that awful song for his single and hopefully not on his CD at all, as I am praying for a CD full of songs/arrangements like his "You Give Love A Bad Name".
At the Zaba spoiler site where people were leaving comments, talking about the coronation song being perfect for Jordin as though it was written just for her, asked how fair it would be if Jordin were asked to sing a song with beatboxing. I thought that was an excellent point. After six seasons now of the public complaining about these awful coronation songs - that you KNOW DJs make fun of and don't want to play on the radio, you'd think TPTB would get a clue. They say the purpose of the show is to find a pop superstar. Why not let them have the kind of songs that pop superstars sing. Something more JT or Beyonce or even Daughtry? I mean, what big star out there right now with hit songs is singing anything close to "This Is My Now"? Yeah, this really is one season where one of the final two truly is better off not winning. Besides, when you consider there were two other really powerful singers this year (Melinda and Lakiki) Blake has got to know just how lucky he was to make top 2 and get a deal.
FWIW I really hope they have Jordin record more current songs also. She's a doll and has a wonderful voice and I would love a CD of great songs from her. Not a lot of glory noted ballads.
