| Yes Skeet! That's his name. He is a real cutie! I only watched about the first 5 episodes in hopes that it would be as interesting as the premise. For me it wasn't. Perhaps if it comes back at a time that does not conflict with shows I prefer to watch, I'll give it another shot. God bless your mom. That is so cute that she thinks Claymates did it! But hey, if Clay wants to call me "his angel", I'll let him think what he wants | |

| HATE!! Kathy Griffin!!!! She says the most horrible things about Clay in her stand-up routine and then has the nerve to say in interviews that she loves him and they are good friends. Oh yeah, I LOVE when friends rip me to shreds and make horrible comments about me for a laugh. Cannot stand her and she belongs on the D-List.
I don't know if I will watch Paula's show. She is so hard to take. I feel sorry for her. She seems so messed up. If there is nothing better to watch maybe I will watch her. I really don't watch any of those reality shows.
ETA: I just wanted to add that Kathy says things in her interviews (the one with Larry King comes to mind) that Clay is the sweetest and nicest guy! So if he is the sweetest and nicest guy, AND she loves him and they are great friends, HOW can she be so cruel to him in her act? Does she really think it doesn't hurt him? Bother him? I know she is cruel to lots of people (see, I think if you have real talent you can be funny without being cruel, Johnny Carson did it for decades) but with the others she rips apart she does not get on shows and say "how much she loves them and they are great friends". I find that hypocritical. Sorry, mentioning Kathy Griffin pushes my buttons big time. I suppose if I were not a Clay fan, and I didn't have to hear so much crap about him from comics, tabloids, bloggers, on-line journalists, etc. I probably wouldn't give a damn about her either way.
Oh, and Aerwin - you know I love you dearly and it doesn't bother me at all that you love her show or her or anything. Just she upsets me because she is so nasty to people. | |

| Well I think she is funny , sorry. She is an equal opuurtunity offender, she makes fun of her own self too. I've not heard her Clay jokes. just the ones about Lindsay, Paris, etc. See I think Sarah Silverman is funny too and she is pretty offensive. | |

| Oh, her Clay comments are not jokes. She did a full 15 min. homosexual bit. 15 mins. of ripping him. Even if he (or anyone else for that matter) is gay (openly or not) why is it OK in our society to make such sick humor about gay people? Are they second class citizens? Stand up comics are ripped apart for racial slurs (as they should be) but gross humor over some one's sexual orientation, or god forbid they are over weight, seems to not only be OK but deliciously welcomed! I just don't get it myself. I feel so bad when I hear jokes about Rosie being fat and ugly. I guess I am just too sensitive to people's feelings. I read a quote this morning of John Travolta's, talking about the made up tabloids stories about him. He wondered if people thought that because he is rich he has no feelings. It made me sad for him.
I am not a Paris fan, but I thought Silverman's comments about Paris going to jail at the MTV Movie Awards, right in front of Paris, and the people cheering for her to go to jail were just awful. I think it was right for Paris to serve her time, but I myself could never have done that to a person sitting right there. I just do not get what is so funny about ripping people apart or kicking them when they are down. It makes me so uncomfortable. I guess I am old fashioned about some things. | |

| I agree with you, fc, about Kathy Griffin. I don't find her kind of routines humorous. She may be able to make fun of herself, but she cannot take it when someone does to her what she does to others. I saw her on Jay Leno's show awhile ago and he made a joking comment about her looks. She did not find that funny AT ALL and it stopped her dead in her tracks during the segment. He turned the tables on her and she was quite perturbed and uncomfortable.
I don't understand people making declarations about someone's sexual orientation when they don't know the individual on a personal level, and especially when it shouldn't matter unless they are in an intimate relationship with that person. Even then, I don't see it as anyone else's business. And the same goes for the weight and looks issues. Ok - I'm jumping off the soap box. I guess I may be old fashioned about this also! | |

| Hi Janice! I always love when you pop in! I wish you did it more.
I remember all the blogs about Kathy's reaction to Jay's comments. ONTD had many comments about it. It was said she was in tears after the show. One would hope she learned something from that, but my guess she didn't. She doesn't know how to be "funny" any other way. | |

| Well guess I am in the minority then. But that's okay with me. I also think Chris Rock is hysterical and he can give a good rip to a few. But I still stick by what I like and do not like. I will change my own mind when I get ready to. Borat the movie was funny to me to and that left no stone unturned. But whatever. Everyone has their own opinion. | |

| Aerwin, no one told you not to like her or that you should change your mind. In fact I stated it didn't bother me that you like her. Obviously lots of people enjoy that type of humor. That said, if she is brought up, I will speak my mind about her because she is a "hot topic" for me. I didn't see Borat because I heard enough about it ahead of time to know it would not sit well with me, so I couldn't comment on it. I have enjoyed Chris Rock (mostly on SNL) I have not seen him be as offensive at KG, but then I don't make it a point to see him all that much so maybe he is. He just seems a little less mean spirited in his delivery. | |

| Aerwin, you're not in the minority. I find Kathy Griffin hysterical. She does rip on people indiscriminately. I figure if Clay can be her friend and forgive her and laugh about what she does, then so can I.
I don't feel she rips on "homosexuality". Her whole fanbase is gay. She even has "her gays". She LOVES them. She says she thinks over 90% of men are secretly gay. She calls all men gay until they prove they're straight.
Most of the people she makes fun of she runs across. They usually take it in stride and laugh it off knowing that it's her act. She usually rips on them, but then says she's a big fan and loves them and sounds really sincere about it. She just says what's on her mind.
Yes, there are comedians who have an amazing career built on not offending anyone, and that's fine for them. I do feel they get a little too much on their high horse about it. Like Ellen won't have Kathy on her show. Kathy says she understands because Ellen's act is in direct contradiction to hers, but think of how much better it would be if Ellen had her on there and confronted her on some of the things she says? How awesome would that be?
It reminds me of the day after I saw "The Dixie Chicks" pick up every grammy imaginable. I went into work the next day and said how happy I was. This one woman says "why don't they just sing songs about love?" Different strokes, baby. I will listen to a song about "love", but ONLY songs about love? BO-RING. Huge stars know they have a huge target on their back. Clay is a big boy and even invites Kathy backstage, much to her amazement.
The thing that happened with Jay...it wasn't part of a comedy act. If you know someone says stuff in their act, you can prepare yourself. You know it's part of their routine and you roll with it (or not) but she was a guest on his show and he looked her in the eye and told her she was the "before" picture (comparing her to Carmen Electra) and she's "the ugly girl". She was being interviewed and was, at the time, making fun of herself. He took it like 3 levels away from that.
Parts of an interview with her:
Despite the success of "My Life on the D-List," Griffin wasn't exactly eager to shoot the second season, which debuts this week. "It's horrible, horrible, doing a reality show," she says. "It's awful, invasive—and it's on Bravo, which is not even a real network. But it takes a lot to humiliate me. I'd measure my vagina onstage if it would get a laugh." Or anyone else's. Oprah, Barbra Streisand, Sharon Stone, Céline Dion, Clay Aiken and Ryan Seacrest, among others, have all been targets. "I only go after the biggest and brightest," she says.
Griffin, 44, has famously had a lot of plastic surgery, and in full hair and makeup can sometimes look like a petite drag queen. In person, she looks softer and more natural. Although she often jokes about the way she looks, Griffin can be hurt when other people do, too. Last season, after Jay Leno teased that a shot of her posing with model Carmen Electra looked like a before-and-after photo, Griffin broke down in tears on the way home. "I was being a dumb girl," she says now. "Some days that stuff will roll right off my back, and other days it will totally crush me. I have no explanation for it. I wish I could be a guy."
I've seen her on her show and she is totally honest about her break-up with her husband and how she loved him and how he probably never loved her. It's heartbreaking. She opens herself up. She does pick on people who have huge careers. She did not talk about Clay's stint in the tabloids. She's not mean-spirited about him. You can tell she's not just lashing out at him. That's not funny.
So, yeah, I can see your point on the one hand, but on the other, I love her. | |

| FC, they were so sporadic with "Dead Zone" that I missed a lot of it. I have to pick up the DVD's and watch them straight through.
Being a child of the 80's, when I found out AMH was going to be in DZ and that it's my kind of series, I was instantly a fan. I love the way they do it. Have you seen the cross-promotion with Monk and other shows? They do a really good job with that!
Oh, and it's always the geeks who grow up to be super-hot and the super-hot guys who grow up to have beer guts and follically challenged.
So, yeah, before I watch the new season, I've gotta catch up. I must say, though, that I saw a recent episode and the sheriff is also getting way hotter! | |

| In all honesty, I do not for one minute believe that Clay is "completely fine" with what she says in her act. I'm sure it hurts and embarrasses him. He told Diane Sawyer he is now "picked on on a much larger scale and that those middle school kids had nothing on the tabloids and comics". What I saw in her act on her TV special was indeed crude and nasty and offensive IMO. So to each their own about what is "mean spirited". But, enough energy spent on a woman I do not feel deserves anymore of mine.
I so agree GE about nerds turning out to be hotties! It happens a lot! I find AMH incredibly sexy! DZ is such a good show! It is very well done. I love Stephen King so I was so excited about this show and it never lets me down!
I love the promos with Monk! I also love Monk. Both such good shows! You should indeed try to catch up on last year. Hey, how hard would it be to do recaps of DZ? Sometimes the show is so hard to follow. Your recaps would be really interesting! | |

It's weird, because TwoP started out doing them. I went back and read them and I could tell the guy wasn't into it and they dropped the recaps.
So, do you want me to start from the beginning-beginning or this season?
I am listening to the audio book "Black House" by Stephen King & Peter Straub. There's 15 tapes! Those boys are wordy MF'rs! | |

There is a shock in it (and not a good one) I keep telling myself it can't be true. That somehow it is going to turn out to not be true! Now, it you would really perfer to go back to the beginning beginning, that is a long way back! I think this is season 7 right? Weird, because I remember that first episode like it was yesterday! | SEVENTH season? WOWZA! REALLY? I used to watch it, and then I could not find it anymore, so I thought it went off the air for a while. I saw no promos, nothing. Suddenly they're giving previews and AMH was on "The View" promoting it and I can't believe it's been on. They haven't done a very good job with promoting it. No excuse with it being on USA since they hype the shit out of "The Closer". | |

I used to turn on USA and it would be on. Then nothing. All I would see is the stuff with Monk, but they never said the show was on or when it was on. They also promote the hell out of Monk all by itself. Nothing for DZ all by itself. | |

Could not believe a KG quote showed up today after our discussion! - Quote :
- Posted: Mon Jun 18, 2007 12:35 pm GMT Post subject:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kathy Griffin bashes famous for a living
Q: Who is the one celebrity you won't make fun of?
A: I got nobody. I got nothing for you. I can't even imagine. I would have said Mother Teresa, but now she's fair game. I never know what they're going to do. The great thing about celebs is that they're the gift that keeps on giving. Who would've thought it would have been Hasselhoff going off? And yet there he is chasing a hamburger on a carpet.
Q: Which celebrity is the best sport?
A: Well, Jessica Simpson came up to me and said, "I hope you know I would never be mad at anything you say about me. I think you're hilarious." Jerry Seinfeld wrote me a a letter that was very nice and I had it framed. Clay Aiken thinks he should get 10 percent of my revenue."
Now, I have no idea if he really said that to her or if she made it up to be funny, but if he really did say that to her good for him! That's funny! I have never seen "The Closer". I should try to catch that. Another one of my boyfriends has a new show starting tonight on USA. Treat Williams as a surgeon again. I adored Everwood, but I heard this show is no where near as good. | |

| That's great! I can TOTALLY see Clay saying that. Look, my mom went from hating Jimmy Kimmel to loving and adoring him. That's because Clay went on his show and was a good sport. That's how he is, which I think is pretty great. Nothing makes a person feel worse about bad-mouthing you than you being a good sport about it.
I remember KG did a whole thing about Gwyneth and Stella McCartney where Gwyneth was being like I really think she is: snobby and stand-offish, where Stella answered her questions in a funny way and rolled with it and KG LOVED it!
That's what I'm saying about DZ. All of a sudden all of this promotion when season after season...NOTHING. Weird.
I saw the promo for the new Treat Williams thing. Was kinda hoping they'd expand his part on Brothers and Sisters. Maybe if this show flops he'll be back there! | |

| I watched Treat Williams' new show last night. It was alright. Made me miss Invasion (the blonde who was in that show played Treat's ex. I've seen her in person - she's tiny). It also made me miss Carnival, which I used to love (the mom of the teenage girl was in that).
Some parts of it were a bit contrived, but I understand they're trying to introduce everyone and give us their back story. Sometimes it seemed a bit over-reaching. Again, I'm hoping that they're able to mellow out and bring some balance. Overall, it entertained me and Treat is always a treat. Brilliant putting it on right after "The Closer" season premiere, which was really good!
I never watched Everwood, so I don't have that to compare it to.

Maybe I can see if it re-airs during the week. I know it could not possibly be as good as Everwood! That was just a wonderful, beautiful, loving and perfect show. God, I cried during the series finale I am getting so bad about remembering to watch shows. I forgot to watch or tape the B&B today to see if GB was on today. I'll have to look for You-Tubes. | |

| FC, GET A DV-R!!! It's only a few dollars more a month. For those few dollars, here's what you can do:
Record an entire season of your favorite shows without ever having to tell it to again. Don't want the repeats? Tell it to only record the first-run.
Did you ever think, "what did she say?" and it was a pivotal line of dialogue and you wish you could back it up and hear it again? YOU CAN.
Have to go to the bathroom? Receive a phone call? Just hit "record". Even if you forget to do that, you can back it up like a half-hour as long as you keep it on the same channel. This is also good if you have a channel on, realize you've missed half of a program you like, and want to watch it from the beginning. You can do that too.
You can record 2 shows at once.
ALSO, let's say you're watching a show and half-way through you think "I should have recorded this!" well, if you keep it on the same channel and press record, it records from THE BEGINNING of the program!
It's funny, because back in the dark ages, my mom was gearing up to watch Clay on David Letterman. 10 seconds before the show started, she fell asleep and totally missed it.
Not long after that I went to a house to dogsit and they had TIVO. I knew if my mom could figure out the remote, this was for her! She has cable, so I got her the DV-R box (which you rent, so that if anything goes wrong, you just take it back and exchange it for a new one) and at first she was all messed up over the technology, but if my mom can figure it out, anyone can. She's now telling everyone within earshot to get this thing.
My mom has MS and spends a lot of time in bed, so the DV-R is constantly filled with stuff for her to watch. She tends to fall asleep in the middle of movies, etc., so this is wonderful for her. | |
