| Glad to hear you made the decision to have your Mom and Dad call the ambulance if he needs to go today. If you need to go to be with him, maybe it could wait until early tomorrow once he is settled in if he winds up going later in the day. I'm sure they would'nt want you driving in freezing rain and risk an accident yourself, especially if you are stressed and upset. You really need to think about your safety and mental health with this deal too...so you can be there for them for them in a decent state of mind. Yes, I got the email from Meda...those wigs don't excite me much, and her stuff is mighty pricey! I got my scarf and hat btw and it is adorable! Bill is wearing the ensemble and it rocks! This is what I wanted to show you last night! Check this out! Some gals commisioned a doll company to make a Tom/Bill "minimee" doll! They do a mold for the face and each person pays 100.00 for the head without face-up, then you have to buy the body and get a face-up, but that really isn't too bad! I think it is going to come out cool! I can't wait to see what some of the gals wind up doing with their dolls! A photoshopped enhancement of the mold to show what he may look like with eyes and face-up: | |

| WOW! They should be really cool! The photo-shop looks great! There sure are a lot of people making Bill and Tom dolls. Those boys sure are popular! Thanks for bringing the pix over. Well, Rob just left to take Justin to work and the freezing rain has begun. I'm on the phone with my mom right now and the nurse cleaned everything up. The nurse said that the blister next to the sore popped. The nurse called the surgeon to see if he wanted my dad to go on antibiotics today, but he said no until he sees him on Monday. Also, my mom just told me that if he gets a fever and has to go to the hospital that she doesn't want me to come to the hospital because of the weather. Whew. I was so nervous about that. My mom says she will just go with the paramedics to the hospital and spend the night and I can go get her tomorrow and visit my dad. Crossing my fingers he doesn't need to go. The nurse said that she is calling Medicare to see if they can start the special "wound care vac procedure" also to get him a special air mattress to sleep on to help with the ulcer on his hip. The doc said that they would not be starting the right prosthetic until this sore is healed and of course warned him that it would take a long time. Needless to say my dad's frame of mind is not good. Thursday now feels like a cruel joke. To be told all was fine and to start the leg and now this. I don't get why that had to happen I am feeling pretty depressed right now. I don't know how he can take all these set-backs and disappointments I have now lost all hope that he will walk again or drive again or even be happy again. Also, Chrysler called and $800 to fix Rob's van This day totally sucks Next semister tuition is due soon too AND several hundred for books. Good lord does it ever end? So, bring pretty dolls pix to cheer me up! I'm working on Xmas cards today. Did a little more online shopping this morning taking advantage of good sales and free shipping. At least most of the Xmas gifts are either here or on their way. I am trying to keep up the Xmas spirit!! | |

| I'm so sorry you are having a bad day my lady! I totally understand why! Your Dad's situation is very sad indeed...I am relieved you don't have to worry about driving today too. Here is a little something to get your mind off of things: Here is the wig I just ordered for my boy (Must think of a name for him soon!) I hope to get my Italy photos finished today... I am 3/4 of the way through our second day in Florence and then will only have our last day in Rome left! Maybe later today! Will PM you of course.... | |

| EEEK!! Gorgeous Wig!! Gorgeous Doll!! I suppose he is one of those super expensive guys Oh I envy people who can afford those incredible dolls! Thanks for your concern. I hate feeling so helpless. Good news in a way, Rob's job for tonight might cancel. At least that is less driving for Rob in the bad weather. It's eased up a bit. Justin was praying for a bad ice storm so that Jewel wouldn't be so busy Saturday at the Jewel he works at is INSANE! That is why I stopped shopping there Now we have one right by our house and I don't have to drive to Batavia to shop anymore anyway. DYING to see your pix!! That will cheer me up for sure!! God it sounds so exciting just naming the cities you were in!! | |

| OMG! My glasses come today! Not the sunglasses, they are being delivered Monday (thank God hubby is home to sign for them) but my regular glasses! I was a wee bit nervous since I never got glasses off the internet before, but with the great prices I had to try, and they are perfect!! The nicest glasses I have ever had. I got them in rose. The are Candies with the cutest little design on the side with a sparkly little rhinestone. They are small since I have a very small face. I can see perfect out of them! YAY for something super cool about today! Hubby doesn't have to go to work and we just "created" a chicken dish and put it in the oven. It was so cool cooking together actually ALONE in the house!! We had a very romantic afternoon too! My mood is much better! Here are my glasses. I got them in rose instead of brown and they are so pretty in person! I knew that the frames were nice because I did try them on at The Geneva Eye Boutique! Oh, and the front around the lenses is a light rose metalic, the arms are the darker rose! God they are pretty! All the bells and whistles added and just $218 delivered! My new glasses! This is the first time I ever got the extra thin and anti-glare lenses. SOOO worth the extra money! ETA: Crap, I just heard from a friend who was at Jewel that Justin had cart duty out in the ice storm! Poor baby The winds are really strong and it is super cold. He gets headaches when he is out too long in the cold. We have about an inch or more of solid ice on the ground. Our windows off the front of the house have such a thick layer of ice you cannot even see out of them. I am so glad that Rob is picking up the boys from work. If they were driving I would be a total mess! | |

I am so happy! Eric called a few mins. ago and his boss is letting him off early since White Castle is dead tonight (not surprised) so Rob just left to get him! Beats having to go out and get him at 11:00!
Thanks for the PM!! | |

| My heart breaks for you all over this too. Your Dad's steady, rapid decline is so hard to fathom. He has been through so much. Sometimes there comes a time when the suffering becomes more than a person/family can bear. If he has to go to surgery again, will they want to do that? | |

| I don't know. I think they may start that aggressive wound treatment. He has several inches of stump below the knee, I'm thinking 4 or so, so maybe they could just take more of the stump if that doesn't work. It seems weird that the rash and diarrhea are back again right as the new wound shows up. Seems connected somehow. Maybe nerves and stress. I just don't know what to think.
He insists we go to the VA in the morning for the blood work-up because he is running out of his heart meds. Then we will see the ortho surgeon at noon and see what he says. Diabetic ulcers take a very long time to heal if ever, so if they go the wound care route again it will be months before anything can be done as far as the right leg. Then if the wound doesn't heal and they take more of the leg there is a few months of waiting until they can do anything about the right leg. So either way, no right leg for a long time. The opthamologist found nothing wrong with his eyes, so why can't he see? It's just so much to deal with.
My mom called me back and they are thinking of selling the townhouse and trying to figure out where to go. It's all so very sad. They so love their home, especially my mom. I know she is going to be heartbroken to leave. It really is nice, gorgeous views from their windows. Peaceful. They built it with all they wanted. It's beautifully decorated too. We helped them move in. We lived there while our house was being built. So many nice memories. Our lives are changing and I can't stop it or make it better.

| (((((FC))))))! You are right about things changing. Your family has been through so many hellacious changes over the last six months! You have such a strong family, this has gotten you through everything up until now. I do think realistically it is time for your Mom and Dad to move to an assisted living facility with a nursing home on the premises. I don't think your Dad can continue to be cared for at home any longer, it just isn't working. You all gave it your best to try to keep him at home, and no one can deny that. But, now there really is no other alternative. I don't know what else to say to try and make some of the pain go away, but maybe this will cheer you up just a little... | |

I'm glad I brought out the lights and the tripod..oh, and the snowflakes are photoshopped! That is extra cool you were'nt sure!
I will be thinking of you today as you take your Dad to his appointments. I know it is going to be a very tough day for you. I wish we lived closer so I could really be there for you.
I will check in periodically from work to see how you are doing. I hear the new Pullip Haute doll is going to be released soon. Have you seen her yet?

| Hi! Well, today was one long ass day. The VA was our first stop. I have never been to this place. I don't know the town it is in very well. Sadly, my dad's vision is so bad now that he couldn't read any of the signs or really make out the buildings. We got a little lost, but I found a main road I am familiar with and not only found the place, but found a faster way to get their than my dad always took. I have to take him there Weds. so now I know an easier route that will save us 10 mins. Anyway, since he had to fast for the blood work-up (great things for a diabetic right ) we no sooner get there and try to get him out of the car, when his blood sugar goes so low he is out of it. No way we can get him out as he is so weak and dead weight. I run in to the VA asking for someone there to help. They have NOBODY to help people out of the car. There were only two nurses there (both with patients) and the old receptionist. I let them know what I think of them making these poor and disabled old vets come out there 4 times a year just to get their meds. and I said "As if his diabetes is going to go away!" Sorry, but the VA is run 3rd rate, with 3rd rate doctors and the place is a dump. Way to treat our vets. Anyway, this little old guy, who just got two new knees who was waiting for his blood work-up said "I will go out and help you". I said I didn't want him to hurt himself. At that point my mom comes in with my dad and some other old guy who was in the parking lot saw my folks and helped. Thank goodness for these nice old guys who don't mind helping. So as soon as they take his blood we get some food into him and have to wait for him to come around before we could go. Getting him in was pretty easy. We had better luck getting him out at the ortho surgeon. I don't know what we did different but we got him out on our own. I do think I will have a pretty sore right arm tomorrow though The ortho took out tissue and some other things from the ulcer. I had to take it to the hospital because he didn't want to wait for the end of the day pick-up. The doc thinks there is not enough circulation for the stump to heal properly. We will know more next Monday when I take him back there and he has the results from the lab about the tissue etc. Then we will know if there will be more amputation. Then I had to go get him some new antibiotics and did some grocery shopping for them and go to their post office. Then dad asked me to take him to the White Castle where Eric works to eat. Way out of our way, but it is the only White Castle around and my dad said "What else do I have in life to look forward to?" We all love White Castle so dad paid for me to eat too. At least I got to meet Eric's fave manager! Then finally home. What a day. So now it is wait a week and see what the heck we do next. I tell you the vision thing has me very worried. Last week he could see to sign in at the Ortho office and today he couldn't see the sheet at all. Since I already took him to the eye specialist and he couldn't see anything wrong, I don't know where to take him now. For the first time today my father told me he didn't want to live anymore. What do I say to that? He fears he will go thru more surgery finally get the legs and than go blind or die and my mom is left with $4000 prosthetics and tons of hospital bills, instead of some money to take care of herself. Yes, I sure wish we were close by each other I could use more real hugs! We should call each other someday and talk on the phone! I know - that would be a big phone bill Your snow and view from your house is just gorgeous!! I knew those big snowflakes were photoshop, but I wasn't sure about the rest of the snow. I only saw the early pix of the new Haute. I believe she is the one in camouflage pants Well, I need to go read some more emails I got today! TTYL!! | |

I hear ya! Well, sounds like you made it through today like the trooper you are! I totally can't blame you Dad for being so down and thinking realistically about his situation. Things can't continue to go on the way things are going with multiple surgeries that never heal etc. The torture has to stop somewhere. Hmmmm, you just gave me a really good idea for something relating to the talking! to each other on the phone!

| Man that gal is an awesome photographer and stylist! And does she have a lot of great wigs or what????? He does look adorable in those glasses...I bet they are SD size. I am waiting rather impatiently for some of the gals that have gotten their Hids to take some decent photos of him in RL. So far, only one gal has posted some and they were dark and awful. My doll is going to look different than the stock version...and I am glad of that since it appears he is quite a popular BJD. As much as I love the black fur wig on him based on the photoshopping I did, I got him the other wig to make him look more unique and refined. That is the look I am going for with him. Should be interesting how it all comes together! I also can't wait for Pru to get her elegant new Christmas dress. She needs something new that really fits and looks wintery. I did fall in love with her all over again for the winter photoshoot. I am still learning how to shoot her though...BJD's are a different and more difficult ballgame than Pullips for sure. Well, I am going to retire early tonight...I have an early day tomorrow! | |

How far is the VA hospital from your house? It still makes me livid that no one from the hospital was available to help your Dad get out of the car! It sounds more like an outpatient clinic vs. a hospital.

| Sad about your snow. I just saw in the paper that a lot of Washington state had really bad weather. My fave town of Stowe Vermont got a ton of snow! That is one gorgeous place! That is a VA clinic, not a hospital. But vets have to go there for blood work-ups and check-ups in order to continue to get their meds free from the VA. They will not do the check-up the same day as the blood work-up, so that means twice in a week or the blood work-up one week and the check-up the next. The funny thing is, as I was typing this my mom called to tell that the VA called my dad this morning to tell him that they will make sure someone is there tomorrow to help him out when we get there! I guess when I told them what I thought of the way they run the place got to her! They told my dad that when he got there is blood sugar was 39 That's what it was when he ended up in ICU. No wonder he was so out of it. He told my mom this morning that right now it is not that he is depressed, but that he is so disappointed. The first leg came off 7 months ago and he just really thought by now he would be doing a lot better. I couldn't even sleep last night. I bet I got two hours. I just don't know what to do to help them. I can't make him better. I am so sad for him that right now, he is all I can think about. I am so worried about his vision. Well, the little girls and I are going to finish decorating the daycare and put up the daycare room Xmas tree. Maybe that will cheer me up. I am starting to lose my Xmas spirit, and that is not like me. I am one who loves the holidays!! | |

| It is totally understandable that you are terribly worried about your Dad right now and the holidays are not that important in the big scheme of things. Sometimes no matter how hard we want to try and fix our loved ones and take away their suffering, we just can't. Hope you had fun decorating with the kids and that it got your mind off things. Your Dad is so lucky he did'nt wind up back in the hospital with his blood sugar like that...I think you should tell his primary care Physician about that entire fiasco and also write to the medical director of the outpatient facility that for patient's that are as frail and sick as your Dad is, having them fast for so long and try to get out of cars unassisted when you are disabled after long drives is ridiculous and dangerous! They are so lucky he did'nt get hurt on their premises or that they did'nt have to call 911 or worse!!!!! Sorry for the rant, but it is just wrong he has to go through all that crap to get his meds when he is that frail...I guess if he goes to a nursing home they won't make him do that anymore. I hope. | |

| Hi! Praise the lord cable/internet is back! Our whole area has been down for 8 hours We are having that freaking snowstorm I am so worried about Eric driving home from work it isn't funny. He has to drive down the dark winding country roads at 11:00. It's been snowing for 6 hours. I am going to be a mess until he gets home. Justin was at a friend's who lives not 5 mins away and when his dad brought him home it took over 30 mins I cannot imagine how long it will take Eric to get home from so much farther away. Hubby needs to leave for work at 4:00 in the morning. I don't see me getting any sleep tonight I need to leave early to take my dad out to the VA again and we are suppose to get more snow in the morning. Man, I so wish this storm had waited just one more day. Well, at least they did call my dad and assure us there will be someone to help him out and he can eat tomorrow morning. I agree that the whole thing is insane. I don't know why when someone is as bad off as my dad they cannot just except my dad's doctor's reports/files/etc and send my dad his meds. Oh well. That's what happens when the government runs things. No common sense. They saw him yesterday. They know how bad off he is. Why not let that be enough and give Hines the OK for the meds. Just praying that the snow stops, the roads get cleared and it doesn't start up again tomorrow morning. They say we are in for another storm Thurs. night and we could get a real whopper this weekend Well, December is sure getting off to a great start! I know a lot of states are getting hit hard with bad weather this week. Well, I must run off and check my other boards and see what I missed today. I know I missed being in chat for Clay's concert tonight. Bummer. TTYL! | |
