A great 7 minute interview with DC. He is a very good interviewee. Intelligent and well spoken and funny. If he wins he will do great in all the day after interviews. I love what he says at about 4 minutes in about mean spiritedness and the ridicule they have to take (he expects its and says bring it) but he wishes people could just treat each other as human beings. No wonder I love him.

| What I really think is funny and just... is the identity of the person who is the foregone conclusion.
I don't really want Jason to have to sing the coronation single. It would be as humiliating as Memory was. I am tickled that every board I go to is pondering it as a possibility.

| Nobody wants their fave to sing the coronation song Unless of course it is GE's friend's song because that would be great! So who do you think is the forgone conclusion? David C or David A? Because I still have this bad feeling it will be David A But honestly, Archie is tailor made for the coronation song. | |

| There is one man who is absolutely certain to make the final - David Cook. There is one boy who is 95%+ certain to make the final - David Archuleta. There is one man who has maybe less than a 5% chance to make the final - Jason Castro. There are two people who probably share about a 1% chance of making this final - Brooke White and Syesha Mercado.
Unless TPTB cook the vote, and since they want a marketable winner, I don't see why they would do that.

| I think Cookie is the foregone conclusion. As of right now, I'd say Archie is a heavy favorite to join him there although I do think he'd be the candidate for the "shocking boot" of the season. I have no doubt that both Davids are going to be signed to contracts no matter where they land.
I'm really really hoping for an all-male top 3 this year. I think it's a mistake to count out either of the girls though.

| That is true Badger. Whoever would have thought Syesha would still be there after being in the bottom 3 or 2 almost the whole time! Kinda like Kim Locke. I just don't see Jason leaving on Neil Diamond week. These songs are perfect for him. He can sing any Neil Diamond song. So if he doesn't make top 3 he is a shoe in for final 4. At least I think so. I am both happy and nervous that you guys are so sure DC will make the final 2 I was so sure Daughtry was headed for final 2 and that didn't happen. Not that he cares now | |

| Nigel gives his opinion:
"As for last week’s elimination on AI, Lythgoe admitted he wasn’t expecting to see Carly Smithson say goodbye. He commented, “Yeah, I was surprised. In my opinion, I felt that Jason was the weakest in the bunch. But he’s got a following, a good following.”

| You're using the pic I brought here for your Avi!! Too cute! Well, I can understand where Nigel is coming from. If you don't have a fave and just go by each performance then one would think Jason and Brooke would have been the bottom two. But both Brooke and Jason have large fan bases and they worked hard for their faves. Like I said before, anyone who keeps their eye on DI and other boards knows Carly has not really captured a lot of hearts - for whatever reason. Could have been all the press about her previous CD, not being from the US, her tattoo headed hubby (even he was afraid people would hold that against her) and she did have problems with her performance. She said in an interview today that she messed up the lyrics and ALW knew it. But he is right. Jason has a good following which is why I think he will make top 3. David Foster said in an interview that he thought Carly was the best singer of this season so maybe he will sign her like he signed Kat. I guess he likes brunettes | |

| Nice avi Sky! How cool 3 of us have AI contenders for our avi!
You are lucky Sky to have two faves in the Top 5. You stand a better chance of having a happy ending! I really only want one to win really badly. I like Brooke a lot, but she is not the one I have my heart set on winning. Honestly, even though Jason is not one of the best singers this season IMHO, I would pick him for my second choice to win after David C - simply for the fun factor! And because he would be such a different winner. Archie is so typical AI winner and frankly boring. We've had two diva winners already so that wouldn't be fun. Besides, none of us here seem to be into that type of music. So if it can't be DC than I hope Jason. I still think a DC/Jason final 2 would be the best scenario, most interesting, and fun top 2 - especially if they let their coronation songs be performed in their styles - rock and folk. So much more interesting than what we are used to.

| Monica loves DC! Aw, "Friends" is my all time fave sitcom! - Quote :
- American Idol - Courtney Cox loves David Cook
Wednesday, 23 April 2008
Courtney Cox decided to take her daughter to see American Idol on Tuesday.
Courtney watched the show with some friends, her assistant and daughter Coco.
A source told OK magazine: "Courteney attended the taping because one of her friends was visiting from New York City and is a huge Cook fan who was eager to see him perform in person."
Her friend's son had his face painted with "David Cook #1" and held up a banner saying "David Cook for President."
Courtney loved David's performance of "The Music of the Night" from the Phantom of the Opera.
She gave him a standing ovation after he'd finished.
Courtney also seemed to enjoy Brooke White's performance of "You Must Love Me" from Evita.

| Part of my love for Jason is his uniqueness and he's so darn cute! I know that put up with DC, he would not win. DC definitely is the better singer vocally. I think they both have style and good stage presence. My music taste are so diverse, that I can love both of them, for different reasons. Archie is so boring, and sooo AI, that it's time for a change. I love Brook too, but I can honestly say I don't think I'd buy her cd.
Let's think positive here..........when Arcie gets voted off, he will be devastated.................

| Sky, you echo my sentiments exactly. I do think the most interesting finale would be Jason/David C. Such different musical styles and both unique and not at all of the diva variety. That is my wish.
I don't know what it is about Jason's voice that draws me in, but he was the first person I liked, and I was just listening, not watching. That's what I tried to do at first, because sometimes I can be swayed by all the hoopla and the lights and think it was great until I just listen. I actually do close my eyes when Jason sings and there's just a quality to his voice that resonates with me.

| Cute little story on "Dreadheads" and the balloons they sent Jason this week. They have virtual parties on Tuesday nights, so I am thinking this Tuesday night I will bring the COOKIES and milk! You Jason fans need to bring something that represents Jason, but it has to be legal http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/showtracker/2008/04/american-idol-j.html | |

I kind of know............It's a softness and when he hits a high note? Awwww, he's got me with those. In the song "If I Fell", when he gets to the words "I couldn't stand the pain", and he hits the word "Pain", I melt. I just hear so much feeling and emotion in the softness of his voice.

| I read an article once about Sir Trevor Nunn who directed Les Miserables and Miss Saigon where it said that when he directs a musical, during the first weeks of rehearsal he has his actors "act" the songs rather than sing them and that once he's satisified that they "get" the lyrics, that's when they start singing properly.
I think Jason does the same thing. Maybe not at the same level or even intentionally, but I do believe he does internalize the lyrics to some extent.
Also, he brings a real sense of intimacy to his performances. It's not a sexy or romantic thing per se although certainly one is free to interpret it that way. It's more of a "Oh, man, I know exactly where you're coming from, brother" thing.

| If you follow this link it takes you to a page on You Tube where you can see individual interviews with the Top 5. DC's is over 4 mins. long and is really interesting. Like I said before he is such a good interview. Jason's is only 1 minute long. When you watch you can see why It's a very cute minute though! Archie's is almost 4 and he talks about David Cook being very funny and Archie seems close to him. So that is nice to hear. Archie is very giggly. Brooke's is over 5 minutes and I didn't make it all the way through. Almost though. She tends to ramble and be a little too giddy in this one. She does explain why she has been so emotional though. I did not watch Syesha's because the girl does nothing that interests me. Archie called her weird - but in a good way All and all they seem like a nice group and they appear to be pretty close to each other. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=top%205%20American%20Idol%20interviews&uploaded=d | |

| The problem I have with most AI contestants (I'm looking at YOU David A.) is that they try to sing really pretty and do runs and blah blah blah, but do not actually get the meaning of the song. That's why Barry Manilow will always be the best mentor they ever had. He made them understand the lyrics and tell a story. I have taken voiceover and I got into it because I thought it had to do with having a nice-sounding voice. It turns out you have to create this whole scenario before you walk into the booth as to who you're talking to, where you are, day or night. Noise/no noise. I think many AI contestants concentrate on hitting the note and it's nice and pretty, but truly very boring. Kat McPhee is the best example I can use. I think David Foster even said that directly to her face. So: - Quote :

I think there's a sexiness to his voice, but it's not a forced sexy or a "do you get how sexy I am?" and maybe it is that intimacy that you're talking about which makes it so sexy. There's nothing un-sexier than a person trying really hard to be sexy. Maybe that's what I hear in the actual tone of his voice that resonates with me so much.
