FC, thanks! I've always said that if a guy I'm with doesn't have a little bit of nerd or goofball in him, then I don't want him. A partly nerdy guy is worth ten supposedly macho guys.

Yeah, after seeing the after-effects of the no-hair thing, and after they kept telling him to wear a hat, I can't believe he didn't at least try grow some hair back for the show. I mean, guys even look OK when their hair is growing in. If this was a choice, it was a bad one.

I'm not kidding. I really think the creepy-bald look was a major factor in him not going further.

Cool GE! I like a little nerd in my men too! Hubby might not like hearing that since I'm sure he thinks there is no nerd in him Wink

Yeah, Phil did look pretty creepy. Almost like that one vampire.

Sky, funny you mentioned Ryan's comments. I HATED that when Gina was in the audience on Bon Jovi night Ryan said "This must be killing you". I thought that was a really cruel thing to say. Perhaps he didn't mean it the way it came out. If it had been me, I would have said something like "You would have done so well tonight" or "Wish you were performing tonight". Perhaps he did just repeat what he was told to say. It was tacky IMHO. Of course, Gina is my home girl so I'm a little protective of her.

A sweet message from Phil's folks to his fans on the AI board!

Quote :
Hi guys. This is Phil's parents. Some of you have known this for a while now but some have not. I wanted to make a final post on here to thank all of Phil's amazing fans and supporters. You have just awed us with your persistence and kindness. You need to know, we could not be prouder of Phil and Kendra. By the way, the avatar in this posts is Phil when he was a young boy. I couldn't show it, but he's wearing an Atlanta Braves shirt. It was meaningful to me because Phil opened the Braves' season last year with the National Anthem. Phil and Kendra are classy people and Phil truly made his exit in a Blaze of Glory. I speak for our daughter Rebecca, her husband Jeff, their five children, our son Keith, his wife Amanda and their daughter Piper and for Phil and Kendra, Chloe and McKayla when I say we have been humbled and honored to have been part of this great adventure with you. The journey is hardly over. Some former Idol contestants have done well and some have not. I believe this is just the beginning of a wonderful career where Phil will entertain us and give us beautiful music that will brighten all of our lives. Of course, we still think he was the best of the season and we will continue to 'Pheel' that way. Perhaps we will meet some of you on the tour and perhaps in other places. We've joined prayer together and together we have worked to make a very deserving young man this year's winner. He may be going home, but he still is the winner, IOHO! Gary and Adrell Stacey - God bless you!

Yeah, like I said Ryan probably didn't mean it to sound so negative. I guess I like my Ryan more on the positive side Very Happy Honestly, I have always liked Ryan. Just like I love Simon even though he can be a total jerk sometimes.

I don't have a husband, but don't worry, I don't have to travel to steal a nerd. I've been a nerd magnet my whole life.

Phil's family seems really nice. I still insist that if the boy had hair, Lakiki would have been the second person to go.

Yeah, I definitely think Phil's looks had something to do with it. But, the way I feel, does it really matter? He certainly wasn't going to win. He gets to go on tour; he'll probably get a country record deal; his family will be happy.

I was never really attracted to nerds and didn't date them. It wasn't until my mom convinced me to move back home from Tampa, (back to South Florida), and go to the JCC, that I met my husband. She figured if I didn't come home I wouldn't marry a Jewish guy. That was really not important to me at all when I was in my 20s. But now I'm glad I did; it's easier to be the same for the kids. My very first boyfriend when I was 16 was Jewish, (although not nerdy - just kinda jerky), and my last boyfriend, (now my husband), is Jewish. The other 5 or so inbetween weren't. They were druggies, crazies, depressives, and, maybe gay, etc. Not to say Jewish men can't be all that! My husband doesn't drink, smoke, do drugs, watch football or play golf. He just constantly plays video games. Sleep

Ooh, Supernatural!! I haven't seen it this season because it conflicts with other shows, but Jensen was the reason I used to watch!! Gorgeous man!! You're guy makes a very hot avi though!! Twisted Evil

GE, you attract nerds because the macho guys are afraid of women who are intelligent, talented and beautiful!

Austin, my hubby can't even play video games Razz He also never did drugs, doesn't smoke, and only has a beer on the weekends!!

Austin, I have found the whole "jewish guys aren't alcoholics and drug addicts" to be such a crock of you know what, I can't even believe it. It's a myth. My mom and dad know that I just want a man who treats me right, so they have to get me marrying "a doctah" outta their heads like NOW. Also, there's no conflict around the holidays with parents and stuff if you celebrate different holidays!

I was watching this thing on Courttv. Religious family-Rabinowitz, I think. Anywhoo, turns out hubby was going to strip clubs and was running out of money, so he killed his wife for the life insurance so he could take off with his stripper girlfriend.

FC: Thanks re: My avi. I do think Jensen is rather hot, but Jared gets my blood boiling. I actually wrote my script with him in mind for the lead. Since he did "New York Minute" with the Olson Twins and "House of Wax" with Paris Hilton, I'm thinking it would be piece of cake to have him to my movie!

Uh, back to AI (this thread IS AI, right?) uh.......Let's take a vote as to who's going home next. Since there's only a few of us, maybe we can do a point system where we all decide who's going home next each week!

I think we need a thread about what men and types of men we have been attracted to, and why, and what happened, just cuz it is interesting. Any suggestions about where to put it? Most of the ones most of us will be talking about are not celebs, but some are.

Maybe a whole new category called MEN?

That sounds like a good idea Frazzle.

New York Minute- uh. I have watched that a couple of times (when it was on cable for a while, my daughter wanted to see it).

I didn't know you were Jewish, Green Eyez. Yes, definitely Jewish men can be bad. I can talk more about it in our new "Men" subject.

Going home? For me it's hard to guess until they perform. Right now, I'd say anyone but Melinda.

Ooh, a MEN section sounds like great fun!! I think you could put it in the Chit Chat/Real Life section!

I'm betting Lakiki goes next week! For weeks now she seems to be the lowest of the females on DI. They had her going this past week. I am pretty sure if Blake has a great performance he will be safe because he should get lots of votes from his fans and probably Chris's fans since Chris has been so open about how much Blake means to him. I know I will vote for Blake this week regardless of how he performs because I really want him in the final two. I just don't want a diva sing off for the final two. I think it would be a lot more fun if it was mixed up more. Also, I would really like to see Blake get a recording deal because I think he would put out a pretty cool CD. I just know I would not purchase a Melinda or Lakiki CD because it probably wouldn't be my taste. I think Jordin might record something I would like too.

The News and Observer (North Carolina newspaper) has a really cute and funny little animated cartoon featuring all the past Idols from NC - Clay, Daughtry, Pickler, Bucky, and Fanty along with the judges and Ryan, with a little Bo, Tayor and Rube thrown in at the end!

http://www.newsobserver.com/1241/story/570279.html

It starts to play as soon as you go there, but if you click the link underneath that says Hi-Res, you get a much larger and more detailed showing. I've watched it 3 times already. It is so cute!

RETURN OF AN IDOL: Former American Idol star Elliott Yamin returns to the show May 16 to perform his new single, "Wait for You." Simon Cowell will not be providing background vocals.

My money is on Kiki leaving. Melinda's the best, Jordin is TCO, and Blake is not only the most innovative musician but the sole shot of testosterone left.

Firecracker - I saw that cartoon. I laughed out loud. Clay as evil mastermind!

From USA Today:

Life after Idol: Sundance scores a record deal

Quote :
Just heard from Edna Gundersen, who was at a press conference in New Orleans attended by Roy Head, the great former Texas hitmaker who's also Sundance's father. He said, without offering further detail, that Sundance had signed a deal with Universal, one of the record industry's four major conglomerates.

Head also said he quit watching the show as soon as Sundance was ejected "because it just made me too mad."

If this is true it makes me very happy! From the get go this season Sundance was one of my faves. When he was good he was really good and I was very sad that he left and Sanjaya stayed. Sorry Abrahammy. I still don't see any kind of star in that kid.

Speaking of Sanjaya, did you guys see where his home town did nothing for him upon his return? Nada. The mayer said no way were they doing anything for him. I find that so odd. Most of these kids get a real nice homecoming. Naperville went all out for Gina. She had just an amazing day!

I thought Jordin was TCO when she was picked to sing last during the big charity event and Randy declared her song the best performance in AI history.

I didn't think she was the best of the night. I didn't even think it was the best Jordin. I think she's got prior ties to Randy and she's been a ringer this whole time.

As for Sundance - I did not vote at all in the semis, and if I had been voting for any of the guys at all it probably would have been Blake. I thought Sundance screamed at me off tune with very little dynamic change and I left the room when he came on. The judges gave him terrible comments for Jeremy, he was the first male Vote for the Worst candidate this year and as I recall every message board I read was talking about how poorly he'd done that night. Now, at the time Sanjaya was still shivering in a corner looking like he was ashamed to be there, and I think it would have been perfectly understandable if he had gone home... but I understand exactly why Sundance was voted out. I was not even remotely surprised by that result and I thought Paula was extremely rude.
Quote :

That got fixed. He's got a charity autograph signing at the Commons mall tomorrow and he'll be appearing in Seattle on Saturday.
