Well, I am glad they are doing something for him because otherwise it looked like they were ashamed of him or something.

During the semi's I only voted for Gina and Blake. I wanted them to make the tour. During top 12 only Gina and Blake. Now just Blake.

As far as Sundance goes, he did an amazing job in his audition and a couple times on the show. Second to last performance was great. He has real potential as far as a voice goes. Does he have star quality? No, probably not, but he has a very good voice if the right people get him the right songs. I myself never heard any performance of Sanjaya's that lead me to believe he has any kind of real singing potential. Can his voice be tooled? Of course. Does he have some appeal to the Disney gang? I guess he probably does. We will see what becomes of him. In my RL no one has brought him up since he left the show. I haven't heard anything about him on any entertainement shows either. So we will have to wait until after the tour to see if he gets scooped up by a label or any kind of TV deal. It will be interesting to see. He seems to be a good and sweet kid, I just think several better singers left before he did. I know it isn't all about singing though. That is obvious.

abrahammy, I don't remember Randy saying that. I'll have to find it and listen again.

IMO, I just don't see her being "pimped", I really don't. I think it's a foregone conclusion that Melinda is going to win.

Austin, I honestly could not disagee with you more. It is SO not a foregone conclusion for Melinda. What we've been saying all along is that she's an amazing singer, but really, her on an album cover? Nope. Don't see it. They're looking for a pop star. Jordin is TCO. Randy did say it was like the best performance ever and I was surprised because I agree with Abrahammy that it wasn't even the best Jordin. She has the sparkle and the voice. She's young and hip and exactly what they say they want.

I'm glad they did that for Sanjaya. What a good sweet kid he is. I really do hope he capitalizes on his name right now. I do see something special about him totally. If Jennifer Lopez can be tooled, anybody can. Did anybody hear her perform live on (was it the grammy's?). It was so nice to be vindicated that she cannot carry a tune in a bucket. Horrible dreadful sounds coming from that woman. Sanjaya just needs a good vocal coach. he doesn't even need the style coach a lot of the other contestants did. Did you see that little girl crying her eyes out? We're not his audience. That little girl in pigtails is.

Jordin's "Woman in Love" should be pretty awesome.

Okay, I'll guess we'll see how it all plays out; should be interesting.

I like Jordin very much and I expect her to be number 2. I could certainly be wrong though!

I like Sanjaya too and I hope something good happens for him. I hope he really enjoys the tour. I'm sure he'll get a lot of love from the audience.

Randy said "One of the best performance on AI ever". I have it on tape and I checked. Also the ladies at The Clack House said he said "one of the best". I think if he had said "The Best", Simon would have made a comment about that because Simon did not think it was the best. Not even Jordin's best.

I was just reading in the Idol Speculation thread over at TWOP. I was shocked at the dislike many people have for Jordin. I don't really get it. Is it because they think she is TCO? She is just a 17-year-old kid and she really doesn't seem that obnoxious to me.

She is a lovely girl. I have never seen anything obnoxious about her at all. I don't go to TWOP ever. They hate everybody. As a Clay fan I would soon scratch my eyes out than read the vile stuff they say about him. I think TWOP's whole purpose is to be hurtful and they think it is funny.

TwoP is no different than any other site where people state their opinions. When someone or something is really popular, there are going to be people who REALLYREALLY LOVE IT and REALLYREALLY HATE IT. I think it's when people don't really have an opinion one way or another about a person, is when you know they're not destined for greatness.

With every successful person this will happen. I'm glad there's some people who hate Jordin. At least that means she's making some sort of impact. Yes, I do believe there is usually a lot of anger directed towards the TCO.

Look, when I was a GB fan it was when I was on TwoP and when finally people stood up and said they liked him, others chimed in until I think his thread was the biggest of anyone of that season. You've got to create a little controversy. Anyone bland as milk will not make it.

So, yeah, there was a lot of crap directed at Clay because, let's face it, he and Kelly are the biggest things to come out of AI. His singing style, who he is, etc...people are going to love him and kiss a picture of him and put it under their pillow every night and there are people using that same picture on their dart board.

Yes, the TwoP environment is built for snark, and many people don't like what others say about their favorite. Hey, I totally understand. It can be brutal in there, but I for one enjoyed the sparring and sticking up for my point of view (I do love a debate). I understand why you might not want to visit, especially if Clay is your favorite, but I love sparring on there.

PostSubject: Re: American Idol   American Idol - Page 15 Icon_minitimeTue May 08, 2007 6:05 pm

I'm all for debate. I totally understand having issues with TCO. My fave is never TCO so I gag on the way the judges try to shove TCO down my throat, especially Rube and Fanty. But, that is not the contestants' fault. It's the ugly name calling at TWOP that bothers me. I think snark is fun, but when I last read there (which was a long time ago) it just seemed many were being mean for the sake of being mean and trying to "out mean" each other. Maybe they feel it's a "talent" or they are checking out their comedic skills or writing skills. I don't know. I never had the desire to be there long enough to find out. Some of these contestants are just kids. It's one thing to go after their talent, or lack there of, but I sure have seen some extremely cruel comments about physical appearance, sexual preference, etc. I guess it is just not my thing to take it that far with these AI kids. Paris Hilton - now her I could go on and on about!!

Anyway, my whole point really was that it doesn't surprise me that Austin would see such hate at TWOP. It's par for the course there. I don't see hate for her at any of the boards I go to because they just are not of that sort of nature. She may not be their fave, but no hate toward her at all.

All this said, I get that there are people that enjoy TWOP and that is cool. Everyone enjoys different types of boards, humor, debates etc. There are people who love comics whose whole act is ripping people apart and they laugh their butts off while I cringe - unless it is Paris Hilton!! lol!

I hope I made some kind of sense. I know I am not very good at expressing my opinion about things in posts. I tend to come across wrong.

Okay I am LMAO @Simon tonight. For the record, the first three performances were not good but what he said when Paula was saying everyone was on their feet for Lakisha and Simon says, "Yeah, running for the exits!" I about fell out of my chair. So spot on that was terrible. I am having fun laughing this week. This time last year I was about to piss myself over Elvis week worrying about Chris and it turned out he went home that week. Devastating for me. But anyway, I think it is fun to laugh and not be invested.

That had me laughing too! It was very Simon Razz I didn't think Kiki was that bad and I actually liked Blake. I thought it was fun and entertaining. Jordin was amazing. NOT better at singing TLS than Clay IMHO, but very good indeed! I think she is TCO and I think she should be. I think she has all the ingredients that go into making a "Pop Star"!

I have to agree about Jordin's second song. It actually made me cringe. Pagenty was a perfect adjective. I do love the girl. I really would like the show to be more current. I guess that is why I liked Blake tonight the best. I love big female voices, I really, really do, I just want them to be more current and more like the music I would be interested in. I would not listen to that Barbra song. Well, I am not a fan of Barbra anyway. I do love ballads just not so many ballads. With all the fun Bee Gees's songs out there this could have been such a fun night of getting up and dancing around the room instead of just sitting on my bed.

OH NOZ!! I am getting votes in for Blake every single time I call affraid This cannot be good pale Oh well. I will just hit redial all for the next hour and 45!!

OK, Clay singing "To Love Somebody". Simply gorgeous. Power, passion, beauty and he did not have to beat us over the head with the song! It is such a beautiful song. My fave Bee Gee song and my fave Clay AI performance (closely followed by Solitaire). Jordin will have to take second place on the song for me. Back to redial. One busy signal so far Sad

Clay's was awesome I FORGOT ABOUT THAT PERFORMANCE! OOps, I didn't mean to yell. Jordin's second song was BAD! I liked Blake best the second time around. I really don't care who wins and it feels great to not have to be nervous and about to pee. I do though hope they have a better "cast" next season. This season was the lowest rated ever. UGH! I don't belive in TCO anymore. Especially this season. Jordin gets cracked on as much as anybody. They were hard on all of them tonight at points. I think even Paula thinks Melinds sings well but is boring.

FC, now there I totally agree with you. It's one thing to "speculate" but it's another to put a person down so horribly for things that have nothing to do with their talent. Yes, they can say they don't think they're pop star material (like we've said about Melinda - good singer but really boring) as opposed to coming down really hard on someone's looks or appearance who doesn't deserve it. I just kind of ignore those people and get into debates with actual intelligent people, and not just the ones who mistake being horribly mean and nasty for intelligence. They're trying to "fit in" and don't understand the difference between snark and being a major asshole.

I haven't seen tonight's singers, so I can't comment on AI tonight yet. Sorry Jordin didn't do as well as I had hoped. Sounds like Lakisha's number is up.

Weird how when the top ten begins you totally think you know who the winner will be and how much that changes.

I think it's Blake whose number is up. That's my prediction anyway. I just didn't think his vocals were strong enough. He changed his hair a little bit and put some type of white stripe in the front. I don't like it nearly as much as last week's.

Jordin wasn't bad at all. At least I didn't think so.

If DialIdol is at all right then Blake ain't going. I think Simon and Randy energized his fans. I voted the most I have since Clay in the final two. I think Kiki is going.

I do love Jordin and think she should win, and probably will, but there were some notes in the second song that really didn't sound good to me at all. It had some lovely moments though at the beginning.

I thought Blake's hair looked cool! He wasn't as good tonight as last week, but his first song was the only time I got up on my feet to dance and I enjoyed watching him perform. He just entertains me more than Melinda or Kiki. Jordin can do both - sing and entertain. I am still crossing fingers for a Blake/Jordin finale, but he is really going to have to bring it big time next week!! I guess I just don't want to sit thru the Diva Sing Off for the finale. I think Jordin and Blake can mix it up and be a lot of fun. Melinda and Kiki just don't bring the fun for me. Ruben and Clay were fun loving and adorable. The big Teddy Bear and his "little buddy". I want that kind of fun again. I haven't enjoyed a final two as much since them. Taylor was fun but I didn't like Kat at all. I loved Carrie's voice but she was not a lot of fun and I was still mad at Bo for being the real rocker. Fanty and Diana were just blah. So yeah, I am looking for some fun again. I did love both Kelly and Justin so that was a really fun night too. Even though Kelly sang circles around Justin.

Yes SB, I really hope they have a better cast next year too. But, that's a long wait though! This season has gone by pretty fast. I can't believe it is almost over!

HOLY HELL! MY EARS!

Bad, bad, bad, bad, bad. Firecracker, let's you and me get in a time machine and go back to 2003 and watch a bunch of talented folks do the BeeGees justice!

Blake was awful - bad enough to deserve to go home. Really bad. Sanjaya level bad, except without that little self-aware dab of ironic humor. Seriously awful, and I like Blake.

Jordin's second song was terrible. I can't believe she's going to win.

Melinda was solid, but unspectacular. I think Kiki might actually have been the best of the night, but it's too late for her. She's going home.

Jordin's going to win. This season is a failure.

I think we all agree how boring this season has become. Blake has to start singing more and 'beat' less, Randy was right it gets 'old' when he does it to every song. I like Jordin, yes, her second song wasn't great but her voice is so beautiful. Melinda, great voice, but ho hum performances. I also think it will be Lakisha going home this week.

Clay's rendition of To Love Somebody on AI was what me go absolutely gaga over his singing. And I really loved the BeeGee's original version, so that is saying a lot in Clay's favor. I actually go seeking Clay's video from time to time just to remind me that I meant it.

Tonight...nobody did anything that made me gaga, or made me full of detestation. I just kept tuning out. My house is cleaner as a result.

Oh, I am so glad you all agree about Clay's TLS! It really was an amazing moment in my Clay fandom! Such a gorgeous voice and he doesn't need all the vocal acrobatics. He just sings so ding dang pretty all the time I love you and season 2 was just a whole lot of fun! Abrahammy, I wish we could go back to 2003. I wasn't on the boards then to enjoy it with all of you Clay fans. I didn't even get on the internet until after the finale and I just had to find a way to stay in touch with Clay!

Well, DialIdol has Blake on top cheers So I'm thinking he is safe for sure tonight with Kiki going home. That is as it should be. I like her and she can sing, but I think 4th place is exactly where she belongs. She can be proud of that too.

I think the judges, especially Simon, got the Blaker Girls riled up and they voted hard. I know I did. It may not have been his best night in the eyes of many, but I enjoyed him just fine and I still appreicate the uniqueness he brings to the competition. I also admire that he does things as the type of artist he wants to be, even though he knows the judges may give him grief. What can I say. I like the guy Embarassed Frankly, if it wasn't for him this season would have been a complete wash out for me. Other than Sanjaya's hair, Blake was about the only thing I looked forward to each week. Well, my homegirl Gina too, but she left early on. Even though I love Jordin and think she will make a good AI winner, she wouldn't have been enough to keep me interested if Blake wasn't on too to balance out the big voiced Divas trying to out Diva each other. BTW, I am not saying Diva in any kind of negative way. Just Diva as in powerful belter ladies!

I'm with SB I don't believe in TCO either. Because if anything I think Chris was the favorite last year and he didn't win. He has certainly been the most sucessful.

Last night was B. A. D. Bad. I would have thought bon Jovi week would have been the worst. Who knew? It was terrible. I think Lakisha will go home tonight.

Hey, if you do want to relive some fun and great singing, here is a great medley of the top 5 from season 2! This group sang amazing together. Each kid could really sing and there was just a spark or something back then. A youthful vibrance. Something lacking at this point in season 6, except for Blake and Jordin (and even Jordin seemed old fashion last night). I feel like it is Blake and Jordin singing with their aunts!
