Ha! Sadly, all the money I make in the summer goes on our $14,000 property tax bill Mad We just mailed $7,000 yesterday. The other $7,000 is due the first week of September. The property taxes here are killers!

Oh, I now have 10 pair of Skechers! I joined the fanclub (it is free) and you get free shipping, no tax and they have a 40% off sale that changes daily at their site. I watch the sales and when a pair I love goes 40% off I grab them. I have only paid a flat $18 shipped for the last 4 pair. I think I have almost all the ones I wanted now!

Yes, this is the perfect time! ALL of our flowering bushes are in full bloom! Our lilac bushes are amazing this year! Though the strong scent can be a bit much when our windows are open. Our Bridal Wreath brushes are some of my faves!

I have been to the Lati sites today. LOVE those dolls! They are pricey for sure! That Kahn was $620! WOW! For MSD size that is high! I do just love the faces on the little tikes though. Don't know if I would pay that much for one so small. I'll have to think about it.

PostSubject: Re: Dolls   Dolls - Page 32 Icon_minitimeTue Jun 03, 2008 7:37 pm

The Lati's are 200.00 right? Does seem like a ton for one of them. I don't think I would have gotten Mal if he had not been 50.00. He is really tiny. They are adorable, but just don't really stand out when they are so small.

Yes, Kahn is a dream doll I will never have. His stock was amazing, but considering you can get a very nice MSD for 200-400.00-I will never spend that much.

Part of me hopes that the new head I am getting does go with Mo's body so I don't have to buy another body for her and another part of me hopes she does'nt match because I want to keep Mo intact, not remove her head
and then make the new doll her own entity. The killer is a nice doll body that will match the skin tone will probably wind up costing me a few hundred. I really like the new AOD bodies...they are extremely solid and well made for the price. I may just get her one of those if the resin is a decent match. I know the white skin matches the Luts white, but the normal skin is much harder to match. I would rather wait for a really nice looking match, then get something that is noticibly off. I am way too picky
to be happy with that. So I may just put the head away and wait until I am in a position to sell something to pay for the body or until I feel like I can budget for it. Right now, I am definitely maxed out on hobby expenditures and extras. My mare's reform school training will cost 500.00. It is weird to think that would buy a doll. Luckily there is not really one that I want right now and I hope that it stays that way! Just when I say that, a new one comes out that I must have. In this hobby, sometimes price alone makes me move on from wanting one really quickly though!

PostSubject: Re: Dolls   Dolls - Page 32 Icon_minitimeTue Jun 03, 2008 8:14 pm

Yep, that is the problem with these dolls. I see a ton of them I would love to have, but there is no way I can possibly have them. I guess that is a good thing though. With the Pullips and the great prices on PS and DM for used ones it was impossible for me to not scarf them up! With the BJDs I KNOW I cannot have more than a few. I can only "window" shop Razz It seems OK though for me. I knew getting into it that I would only be able to have a few so I was emotionally prepared.

I think it would be good if you could find the head it's own body and leave Mo be. She is so amazing! But, I understand that you will be anxious to put that head to good use!! Laughing You wouldn't want it just sitting in a drawer somewhere!

Have you seen Hujoos? Didi was telling me about them and sent me some info on them. I think some of them are totally adorable! Some are totally creepy, but it a funny way. She is thinking about getting one.

The yellow Lati seems to be larger than the pets. I think the white Lati dolls are the ones as small as Mal, at least that is the way it looks from the Flickr pix I found. No way will I spend $200 for one of the 5 or 6 inch dolls. You were lucky indeed to get Mal for $50. Hey, maybe you should sell him for your new body. I mean, I would hate to see him go, but you could make a nice profit on him.

ETA: Look at this little guy!! Razz I love him! He cracks me up!

Yes, I remember the Hujoo's! We have talked about them here before. I think they are interesting, but would not buy one.

But, the bigger boys is another story...he is very nice. I may have to go to their website and check them out!

Yes, unless the new head is a perfect match with Mo's body, I think I will wait for the right body to come along. I am so fond of her...I really do not want to decapitate her. Shocked Even for a while. Plus, now she is now part of a couple with Thorn and I really don't want to separate them. No A new Luts/Fairyland body without a head is 282.00 including shipping through a group order at DOA which really isn't that bad. The body looks really nice and would fit the head perfectly. Or I can wait for a used one to show up down the road for hopefully a tad less. I am still glad to nab the head at a a fairly decent price for later use.

I don't like the wig on the bigger boy, but I really like his face. I don't know that I would spend money on that baby up there, but I do totally crack up looking at him! I think he is so cute in a really off beat way. I like him much more than those Jun Planning BJDs that are out.

That sounds like a good price for that body. I mean add the price of the head to that and for the type of doll you would have for the money just couldn't be beat! I think you should go for it as soon as you can! That's right - no busting up Mo and Thorn!!

It's almost 12:30 AM here so I best hit the hay!

YAY for Tristan and his mommy! cheers

No, I haven't made any two or three strand bracelets yet. But I found the right type of clasp for them at Hobby Lobby and I figured out how to do it. I really hope to make some over the summer. I wear multiple bracelets most every day so I feel like I wear multi-strand bracelets already! But I want to make some as gifts, as well as for me, so I do plan to try those in the near future.

Thanks Aerwin! I used pastels and watercolor pencils to do his mouth. I just lightly went over his fangs with white watercolor pencil to bring them out a bit.

Congrats on Tristan's 3rd place! Did they take any photos of him with his plate? I would love to see one!

Good morning!

Hope you have a good day ahead!

I spent most of yesterday cleaning and re-organizing the daycare room! Since the older ones are starting up today I wanted to change things around from when I usually just have the little ones. Half of the little ones are still coming one or two days a week this summer, but I will mostly have older kids between 2nd and 7th grade. So I made sure all puzzles were together, all game pieces in their boxes, all Legos and Duplos together in their right buckets, all art and craft supplies organized, etc. I spent hours on it but I was so pleased when I stood back and looked at the room! The big kids are good about keeping everything in order when they are done playing so it should be in good order all summer.

I did spend a little time checking out Green Lati Dolls and I am afraid I have fallen in love with a couple of them Embarassed I may really want to get one. If I get a boy it will be Milo's little brother, if I get a girl it will be the girls' little sister. They are much taller than the Yellow Lati dolls, but perfect for a little sibling and oh so adorable! It looks like you can get a "full set" for $230 plus shipping. I wonder which ones will still be available come Xmas time?

Later and love!

ETA:

This is the girl I am smitten with!

This is the boy!

I cannot even tell you how much I would love to get them as a set Embarassed Enough to really try and sell my diamond ring for!

Oh, I am so glad you think so! I was looking at Lati pix on Flickr and I just love them! The thing is most of the Green series is sold out right now, which has me fearful these two will be gone before I can get them. Oh well, maybe they will have new ones out for Xmas then. Oh to be rich and not need to wait for holidays to get frivolous things! Razz

We have had nothing but crap weather all week! It is suppose to suck tomorrow and Saturday too! Mad How dare it suck on the day of my Dad's memorial service Sad I will be chanting to the weather Gods!! Dolls - Page 32 1

Good luck on the weather tomorrow for your Dad's service! I will be chanting for you! Hope all goes well and I will be thinking about you.

Whewww. What a crazy day! Swamped and had to work overtime...then helped my friend go get her free horse.

I got my Shiwoo head today! Eeek! I am so pleased with her! I can see why the Luts/fairyland dolls are so popular...the mold is just beautiful! The face-up is to die for...just one little section that I was told about that looks like the doll artist let a small amount of dark pastel settle on the cheek. It is really unnoticable, so I may add some blush over it or just let it go since I would be afraid to damage the beautiful work on the existing face-up. As expected, the new head does not match Mo's skintone at all..the new head is much more pinky toned. Probably the pink-skinned dollzone body would be a good fit if I can get one at a good price-the new ones are 200.00 I think without a head. Shocked Would love to get her the Fairyland/Luts body, but I really don't want to spend almost 300 on the body alone. No And of course now that I have the head, I am just dying to get a body for it.

Well, may the force be with you tomorrow my laydee! Better go collapse now. TTYL!

Good morning!

Today is the day we go to the funeral home to pick up the holy cards, registry book and thank you cards. Then we take all of that plus the urns, flag and pix to the church. The pastor is meeting us at the church at 11:00 so we can set everything up for the memorial which is tomorrow morning at 10:00. Then I will take my mom out to lunch for her birthday.

The weather today is very hot, humid, windy with a chance of storms. After lunch I will take my mom home and then go to Kohls and look for something else to wear tomorrow than what I already bought. It is going to be in the 90s tomorrow with a heat index of 100! Shocked Well, needless to say since the normal high for this time of year here is 73 - what I bought I will roast in! So I am going to look for some dressy capris and a lighter weight top. I cannot believe it is going to be that hot on June 7th here. We usually don't see 90s and 100 heat index to the end of July. Don't it just figure we would have unusual weather on such an important day? Mad They have taken the strong winds out of the forecast for tomorrow and lowered the chance of showers to 30% so hopefully it will not rain.

I am so happy you love your new head! cheers I guess it is good it doesn't match Mo so that she gets to keep her body! Laughing Ah, go for it - get the Luts body!! Imagine - owning a Luts!! That would be awesome! I know I will never have a Luts No Far too expensive for me.

Yesterday I looked at 20 pages of Green Lati dolls on Flickr. I really must have one someday! Or two!

Well, I need to get going. I won't be around until tonight, so have a great day and talk to you later!

FC, hope the weather report is wrong for tomorrow! This has been a weird Spring/summer for us too. Now it is unseasonably cool and windy again. Rolling Eyes Don't know why I can't seem to get the date right for your Dad's service...kicks self in butt! For some reason the 6th keeps popping in my head, but I think it is because it is my Dad and his wife's anniversary. Yeah, thats the ticket! Wink

Thanks again Aerwin about the teeth! I had fun getting the mouth just like I wanted it! It took lots of layering of pastels, then doing the tiny details with watercolor pencils. Our next art project is going to be a doll size resin unicorn sculpture based on the Legend movie Unicorns...Yes, we are insane! Twisted Evil Have you posted Tristan's magazine photo here???? Shocked Please do if you have not! I would love to see it!

Yes, FC you are right. I just need to go for the Fairland/Luts body. They are like 282.00, but are truely lovely and this head definitely deserves a special body. Twisted Evil Now I just need to sell something to get the money. I do have a diamond ring in mind to put on Ebay...I just may have to do eeet! Twisted Evil

Somebody gave their Goodreau Secret (like my Shyla) a Victorian look! I just love it!!

Dolls - Page 32 Victoriansecret

We had a super busy day. I did get some really nice black Capris in a really nice fabric, and a super cute dressy but summery top to go with the Capris. I also got some really nice dressy, strappy black shoes with a nice heel.

Dad and all his things are at the church and all set-up for the service.

The weather is still going to be super hot, but they say if we get any rain it will be after 1:00 in the afternoon when we should be about done with the luncheon. They have the winds down to 10-20, which will be great after today's 40 MPH crazy ass winds!

You are so lucky Luca to have cool temps! Our A/C is running like mad today. It was so hot outside today and with the strong winds and humidity it was like walking in a whirling sauna! Yuck!

Hey Luca, you should drop by my David Cook thread when you get the chance!

I'll talk to you guys later!

I will! Wink Thanks for the invite!

That Secret looks great styled Victorian! I truely love that era in a big way!

Sounds like you have the perfect outfit for tomorrow! I am hoping the weather cools off for you some! That sounds miserable! No

Well, I am going to try selling a vintage, carved ivory necklace and matching earrings that were handed down from my grandmother on Ebay.
The Ivory was pre-ban of course. It is beautiful, but not my style and I could never wear any part of a dead elephant that was killed for it's ivory...but, the artistry of the people that made it is impressive. I am going to start the bidding low and see what happens. I have nothing to lose and possibly a new doll body for my head to gain! Twisted Evil TTYL!

Will you have time to stop by tomorrow before you leave for the service?

Good morning!

Yes, I am stopping by. I woke up at 5:00 AM and couldn't go back to sleep. I am looking forward to this day being over. It will be wonderful to have a nice service for Dad, but quite sad to. I know the luncheon will be delicious and it will be nice to see some friends and co-workers of my Dad's again. Many of my cousins will be there too and some of them I haven't seen Eric's graduation party - so that will be nice.

The winds are calm - thank goodness. It is cloudy. Not sure they are right that the rain will hold off to this afternoon. Looks like it could pour right now. It is 5:40. They say now a high of 90 and heat index of 96. Maybe it's a blessing the sun isn't out. That would only make it feel hotter.

I love the Victorian look on dolls too. I really like the blonde on that Secret.

I hope to see you in the DC thread. He is having much success on radio and iTunes. I have already pre-ordered his CD from Amazon Laughing

Well, have a great day. I think we should be home about 2:30 or so. Talk to you later!

I love you flower

In the Chicago land area you never know what weather you are going to get!

The winters can be super cold - way below zero with dangerous wind chills of 60 below, and heat in the summer of 105! We get it all here!

Laughing Yes, Eastern Washington State is the best kept weather secret! People think the entire state gets rain all the time, but we are in a semi-arid climate with lots of sunny days and cool nights. Really fantastic weather about 7-8 months out of the year. I am definitely spoiled! Today another sunny day in the 70's! Twisted Evil

Hi! We are back. It was all just beautiful. No rain, only a little breezy. Warm, but the church and restaurant were nice and cool. Excellent food! Many nice people shared the day with us. It was very special. Several people from my Dad's work came (even though he retired 10 years ago) because they all loved him. Many neighbors from the townhouse community came because he was the president of the homeowners association up until December. Of course many relatives and family friends. More people showed up to the service than we expected.

I was strong and only cried at the end when the priest had us sing Amazing Grace acapella. That was so touching.

So even though the reason for the get together was sad, it was a wonderful day!

I put some pix from the church in the RIP thread.

Glad you will have a wonderful memory of this day and hope it brings closure to you and you family.
