| SO his mom did that??!! I wouldn't have a clue how to do that Besides, I don't think either of my kids would trust me with their hair I used to cut it when they were little. You know, little trims. I am going to have to look up how one washes and takes care of dreads. | |

| I read up on it. You wash the scalp and don't worry too much about the dreads. I think the people who have regular hair extension (like Britney) have an even harder sime washing because the extensions are attached closer to the scalp.
I like Jasons dreads. But if he cut it that would be fine with me too.

Okay, now I'm on the hunt for Jason pics with different hair other than the one I posted..............

| OMG! If you told me you put his face with Danny's hair, I'd believe you! It's positively identical!
I agree that extensions are a bitch. I can't imagine a kid's mom telling him not to cut his hair and making that offer. His mom must be a real trip.

| Yes, apparently Jason is REALLY bright. Intelligent and articulate often coincide, but not always.
I don't like the dreads, I never have. They seem like an affectation on the head of anybody who is not black. THESE pictures give me a sense of the handsome that has so many girls a-flutter. I really just like the kid's singing, a lot.

| The hair doesn't matter to me, it's his voice that I love and his attitude! Sanjaya??????????? Oh, I'm not going there.......... Jason is WAY cuter than Sanjaya................. Sanjaya has a great voice, we just didn't hear his best during Idol, he was too worried about his 'attitude' and making an impression........... Just my opinion. | |

| Did his mom lighten his hair too? Sorry I missed the initial discussion. I like him with his hair straight or with dreads. He looks more modelesque and less "hippie chic" with the straight hair. | |

| I've read that his mom went on the internet to learn how to dread hair. I think maybe the color might have been done by Dean the hairdresser. | |

| I do not much care about the hair in the long run, but the dreads certainly made him far more visually appealing to me to begin with.
I think dreads get lighter, no matter what color hair they are to begin with , just by being dreads, but most dreads are some form of extensions braided onto the ends of real hair.

More like Danny Noriega, I think. Sanjaya hit some clunkers, but not as many as some people suggested. His primary problem was inability to project his voice. Boy, Blake's had some UGLY things to say about him this week!

| My feeling on this is that Blake is not a distinguished enough singer to be quite so vocal about the vocal failings of others. Heh. Here's a fun idea. Listen to Clay's version of Mack the Knife. Then listen to Blake's. Then laugh.
This parlor trick can also be used with the song "Imagine" and comparative vocals by either Ruben Studdard or David Archuleta.

| I didn't listen to the interview where Blake spoke about Sanjaya. I do know he said he was very disrespectful. After that I heard where some others had issues with him too. But, who knows what they are all really like. I do think when you are just starting out in the biz it might be best not to piss off fan groups though. I agree, Blake's voice is not all that, but the beat boxing thing is a talent itself - and that he is very good at. It is just not something I can listen to for very long. | |

| Basically, what Blake said about Sanjaya:
1. Sanjaya was loud and annoying when others were trying to sleep, so Blake locked him in a closet. 2. Sanjaya was cut in Hollywood; Nigel brought him back. 3. Blake was offended that all these incredibly talented people, who were Blake's buddies, who had been working hard for years, got cut while "this little kid" advanced because of the "ignorant public."
Blake's in an interview and he spends the first two or three minutes just trashing Sanjaya - not talking about himself, his own projects or dreams, just talking about Sanjaya.
It occurs to me that the "ignorant public" allowed Blake to advance at the expense of LaKisha and Melinda. You gotta understand; I don't think there was one single male last year who could sing for squat. None of them. Four of the women could, but none of the men. Blake was a novelty act, but not very good when he wasn't beat boxing. I don't begrudge him using that singular gift to advance - as long as he doesn't trash other people as if he had the right to boast. If Melinda Doolittle isn't trashing Sanjaya Malakar, or Blake Lewis for that matter, Blake needs to shut up. And here's the thing - I voted for Blake a lot last year, more than I voted for Sanjaya, but this whole flak sure makes me sorry I did.

| Wow, that is too bad Blake wasted interview time like that. Was he asked about Sanjaya? Dumb move on Blake's part. But too be honest, I have not been impressed by Blake at all the times I have seen him since his AI stint has been over. Something about him just bugs. I think he thinks he is some musical genius or something. His record sales (or lack there of) should have him rethinking that. That said, Sanjaya was cut in Hollywood? He was brought back just for good TV? Who knew?? | |

| Silly of Blake to have done that. But I liked him last year on AI; he was a breath of fresh air at times. His sound was unique and I liked him for that.
I missed the Jason discussion but I just want to add that he so good looking, I think someone from tv will try to sign him for something.

It does explain a lot - including Simon's tendency to treat Sanjaya as if he'd done something wrong rather than treating him as a mistake the judges made. That's one of the things that upset me so much about the way he was treated, and now I get it. However, Simon's beef is with Nigel, not with Sanjaya. Jason may get signed. He's unique as AI contestant go - there are few genuine folkies on the show. Still, I have learned the hard way that, Clay not withstanding, the ride is never quite as exciting after a person's been voted off the show, and it often either dies down or leads to some very serious heartache. The deck is heavily stacked against all these kids. So these days I tend to think that they are on my tee vee screen for a season, and then they are gone, and that singout really is the big goodbye. Clay was an exception, Taylor a huge letdown, and Constantine was a heartbreaking downhill spiral that was really stressful for me, and I don't care to do that again. So I accept that when Jason goes, he goes.
