For most that is true. But there have been a few exceptions besides Clay - though we all know he really won Wink

Daughtry!!!!!!!!

Jennifer Hudson! Of course so far it is more in film than song.

Kellie Pickler is doing pretty well too. Touring with huge acts and getting radio play for a few of her singles, some award nominations and a second CD coming out.

Bucky has two hits on country radio right now.

Kim Locke has managed to keep a bit of a career going for 5 years now.

I think if David Cook or Archie don't win they will still have a good shot at at success. I hope Cookie does! *prays to the music gods*

So it can happen. It is best to not get hopes up though and then be pleasantly surprised when something good does happen! Surprised

Welcome Idol Fanatic! That is if you are real. Mostly when I welcome new people they turn out to be "Bots" Embarassed

I forgot to add Elliott to my list of former Idols doing well. I heard his new single in Wal-Mart this afternoon and went "Elliott!" I forgot to put Elliott on my list.

So, did Blake give any reason for not liking Archie? How well could he possibly know him? Archie is very popular right now. It would be smart if Blake didn't tick off his fans. I am thinking Blake things rather highly of himself Rolling Eyes

I'm assuming "Archie" is Michael, right? I call him Freddy (Scooby Doo) because he always wore an ascot.

Blake SO doesn't have the chops to be slamming others on their shortcomings. I mean, he was fun to listen to during the show, but it's not like he's Clay or something. GEEZ!

He sure isn't Clay. Clay has never said one bad word about any former Idol. It just is not his style. He's rolled his eyes about Simon a few times though Razz

Yes, David A.'s fans call him Archie.

The cast of AI, as well as the fans, have taken to referring to Archeluta as Archie and to David C. as Cookie. This keeps it from being confusing. Chickeze told us this.

Yes, there are a few exceptions like Pickler and Bucky, Daughtry, and of course Jennifer. Personally, I don't think Pickler will be more than a one hit wonder.

Katherine McPhee sure has got her mug on all the mags and is at all the charity events. I don't think she has much in the way of acting talent or charisma from what I have seen. But, her looks are sure extending her 15 minutes it seems.

Katherine McPhee is positively beautiful. I've seen her in person and can verify this fact. As for acting, I think the fact that she can't has to do with her not being able to connect emotionally with a song. Also, she could do really well with a hair commercial. I thought she was supposed to be a spokesperson at some point for "big sexy hair".

Ahhhh...Archuleta is Archie. OK. So it has nothing to do with an ascot. My bad.

Can we call Michael Freddy then?

Plus David Foster just signed her to a recording deal, which is not too shabby.

Pickler has already had TWO hits Laughing So at the very least she will be a 2 hits wonder Razz I actually think she will have a career in comedy. Her Leno stints are a riot!

I found these articles over at GS just now. They're in the new TV Guide.

Carly and Archie

Brooke and Cookie

Jason and Syesha

Michael, Kristy and Ramiele

The articles are basically family members talking about how each of the Idols "got their start" in music.

What???????? Oh, that makes me Evil or Very Mad Jason is so much better than Kristy. He shouldn't say anything about any of the singers when he's off the show...............that's not right.

Randy is an ASS and has always been my least fave of the judges. That was a terrible thing for him to say/do. None of the judges or Ryan should rip on these kids while the competition is going. I hope Jason doesn't hear about it knowing he has to face the judges tomorrow No

You know, I think it is fine for the judges to say who they think might win or who they feel are the best/most consistent. But they absolutely should not tear any of them apart in the interviews during the competition.

I am not a fan of Jason's (well, I am of his face) but he so didn't deserve that. On the good side, his fans will vote like mad now!!

Abrahammy, I'll be sure to post Jason's number so that you can vote for him even if you don't watch.

I will of course be voting for my Cookie! (sorry Jason)

Thank you. I think this is where Rickey's website will be helpful, too. However, I've got a problem. I work until nine tomorrow, so I will only have about a half hour window to vote when I get home.

Blerk. I can't believe I have to do this again. Why can't these people just let these kids sing and let us vote and see how it all turns out?

Anyone who would say they would sign Kristy Lee Cook before Jason is someone whose opinion I can safely ignore because they are obviously full of bovine excrement.

From what I gather, the Archie fans have found the poll.

What does everyone think about Nigel saying that if something happened to Cookie's brother (God forbid), he'd get a week off from the competition? Basically, he'd get a bye into the next week's show.

Not sure I think that's fair especially if it happens later in the season like top 5 or top 4.

Which poll Badger? The should David Cook win poll? Or is there another one out there? I always vote for Clay on polls so I will need to do that for Cookie too!

Well, I do think it is fair. If his brother died certainly he would need to go be with his family. I honestly think under the circumstances everyone would understand. Maybe they could just not send anyone home that week. Let's just hope his brother gets better.

Frankly, I'd rather they do like they were planning to do with Josh Gracin in case his unit got called up. They were just going to let him leave but bring him back for the next season's shows around the same place he was when he left. From what I understand, something similar to Cookie's situation happened on POP IDOL and they handled it the way they say they would handle Cookie's case.

FWIW, I think it's okay until you start getting into the top 4 or 5 because then you're talking about someone getting a bye into the finals.

Bot..what exactly is that? I suspect our new friend is not a human, but I actually don't quite know what a bot is. Splain, please. Would it be a program that scours the web to find some particular set of keywords in a forum and then automatically places a specific message with a link?

Pretty much. From WIKIPEDIA:

Quote :
Malicious purposes
Another, more malicious use of bots is the coordination and operation of an automated attack on networked computers, such as a denial-of-service attack by a botnet. Internet bots can also be used to commit click fraud and more recently have seen usage around MMORPG games as computer game bots. A spambot is an internet bot that attempts to spam large amounts of content on the Internet, usually adding advertising links.

There are malicious bots (and botnets) of the following types:
Spambots that harvest email addresses from contact forms or guestbook pages
Downloader programs that suck bandwidth by downloading entire web sites
Web site scrapers that grab the content of web sites and re-use it without permission on automatically generated doorway pages
Viruses and worms
DDoS attacks
Botnets / zombie computers; etc.
Bots are also used to buy up good seats for concerts, particularly by ticket brokers who resell the tickets. Bots are employed against entertainment event-ticketing sites, like TicketMaster.com. The bots are used by ticket brokers to unfairly obtain the best seats for themselves while depriving the general public from also having a chance to obtain the good seats. The bot runs through the purchase process and obtains better seats by pulling as many seats back as it can.
Bots are often used in Massively Multiplayer Online Roleplaying Games to farm for resources that would otherwise take significant time or effort to obtain; this is a concern for most online in-game economies.

So if I call David C. by his nickname all the others call him you won't like him? Shocked

Well, alrighty then.

Badger, if David Cook had to leave and then wait until next year to come back he would not be able to accept any offers for he would get. I guess if he got the right offer he wouldn't need to come back to the show. I still think the best would be to just not let anyone go the week he is gone - therefore giving everyone a bye - rather than put him off until next year and leaving him and his fans with a full year of being on hold. That would be torture. I bet you wouldn't want Jason to have to put his career on hold for a full year.

Bringing over a post that tells what was said on LKL last night.

Quote :
Man, they were brutally honest about this year's contestants and I can't say that I disagree with most of what they said. Which was, in a nutshell:

All three predicted the final two will be the Davids. They all said David C. was their "favorite", but that David A. was the "one to beat". ( I think they've seen the Dial Idol numbers. *g*). Pauler called Archie a teen savant. Doesn't she mean prodigy?? Savant makes me think of Dustin Hoffman in "Rainman". *g* They praised Cookie for his originality & fearlessness.

Here's what they thought about the rest.........

Carly: Good voice, but doesn't know who she is, musically.

Michael: They think he's good when he does the bluesy thing like last week. When he tries to be a ROCKSTAH.....not so much.

Brooke: They like her but said her song choice from here in out is critical. Ryan said she is "transparent", whatever that means. *g*

Jason: Simon seems to think that Jason really doesn't care much what's happening week to week. Randy & Pauler seemed similarly unimpressed. However, he was leading the online poll at the end of the show. BWAH!

Syesha: They see her more as a actress/singer. ITA with that assessment, btw.

Kristy: God I hope she didn't watch this cause Simon was pretty mean about her. He said she has "NO chance" to win. Later in the show he couldn't remember her name! Randy said he'd sign her anyway cause she'd make a good country $inger. I guess he figures that if the Pickle can make it in Nashville, any cute country girl on Idol can. *g*

They also said Kelly was their favorite Idol winner. What happened to the "best Idol EVAH", Fantasia?? Heh.
