I agree! I think even Jason with sell better to people over 12 than Archie. I just don't know what direction they would take him in. He seems to love to sing power ballads and I just don't know if little girls are into that.

Firecracker, tell you what: I just can't bring myself to go over and listen to a huge blob of bad coronations songs. However, if there is one that the Cook contingent favors, and you tell me what it is, I'll go vote for it.

OK! I'll check out the Cook fan boards tomorrow and see what they are saying. That's a great idea! I'll have to throw a few GE's friend's way too. I only voted once this morning. I can't imagine when I would sit and listen to all of those songs I have visions of a bunch of "Inside Your Heaven"

It's a distasteful and disgusting way to do it, especially when it's the highest rated show even with declining ratings.

Hopefully, both DC and Jason can put their own styles into the Mariah Carey songs they choose. I don't like these theme weeks either, FC, and don't think it shows off these contestants to the best of their abilities when they are forced to sing styles not suited to their voices. Gloria Estafan week on AI3 really brought that home. She is the only one who can sing her songs.

I finally downloaded some of Jason's studio recordings and found that I really enjoy his recording voice. It's easy to listen to. However, I don't see Clive wanting to sign him because he's another that is not easily put into an existing box. Since I'm doing some uninformed speculating, I'll also guess that they decided even before the Top 12 that the two Davids will get recording contracts.

I think this whole thing is bull and I'm willing to bet these people wield no influence whatsoever. There's a whole country to contend with and since Cook is such a popular guy, I doubt anything will change. Plus, it just makes the people on the other side vote that much stronger, so it all cancels out in the end.

I think there's a pretty good possibility that no matter where Cookie ends up, he's going to be signed by Clive who has first dibs on all the contestants. Here's the question: Will he sign him as a solo act or as the front man of a band a la Daughtry?

ITA about Archie seeming very young. I don't think it has all that much to do with him coming from a conservative religious tradition. Heck, Jordin Sparks appears at right-to-life rallies and has spoken out in favor of teen abstinence from sex and yet she doesn't seem as sheltered as David A. does.

There is no doubt Cook will be a big star............ It just bugs me that David A, will likely win and I just can't see much of a draw for him. The teenies have their own music, and I haven't seen that music from David A. Of course he will sing what they want him to sing, I hope when he is older and wiser he'll spread his wings a little. I can see a niche for Jason's music.......look at Jack Johnson (not that I listen to him), but there is a market for strong ballads.

It would be so much nicer, if they'd let these people sing what they are comfortable singing and not these damn themes. I'm hoping David C. and Jason 'knock it out of the ball park' with versions of their own to Mariah Carey songs.

I hope you guys are right and David C. becomes a star!! Clive will put him in a band and name the band COOKIE because Frazz would love that! AND David will get a HUGE ass tattoo on his back that says COOK! But I wonder along with Badger - solo or band??

I hope that David C. and Jason can get past this week so that they can be there for ALW week next week! I want to hear David C. do something great with a song from Jesus Christ Superstar!! I'd love for Brooke to sing "I Don't Know How to Love Him". But, there are many ALW songs that would be good for the girls.

Yes, the Idols should be singing the type of music they would record so we have a good idea about what a CD from them would be like. Plus sing songs that suit them and their style. Not every successful singer can sing all the different types of music and they certainly don't record all different types of music. So it really doesn't matter to me if the winner is someone who can sing lots of genres because they wouldn't record them all and I wouldn't buy them all.

So crossing fingers and toes that tomorrow night goes well! David C. cannot go home this week with his terminally ill brother in the audience. That would really suck! We had enough suckage with Michael's ouster!

Another nice write up about Adam Cook going to Idol this week. Man, he has little kids I sure hope things turn around for him. It says last week was not good for him. I bet David C. singing that song last week was really emotional for him. Damn Simon for the pompous remark ! And really, who is Simon to call anybody else pompous

ETA: Ha, well I would love it to be true because they are both adorable I would love them to be happy, but OK is not a very reliable mag. and I just don't buy the story. Maybe they do like each other, but I doubt that David is missing curfew and dating. The Idols are kept extremely busy and have chaperone's when they go out. I don't think he is spending a lot of time at her apartment . So taking this story with a giant salt lick!

That is terrific news about Michael Johns. David Foster seems like he was very open to the Idol experience this year. Would love to see some really music come out of this collaboration.

No, he's not. He's manipulative and dishonest, and he always has been. Every time we see something that seems unusually cruel or unnecessary, you can bet Nigel was behind it. I'll bet money he's the author of that awful "choose the group" thing they do each year at F7.

I wonder who the lucky person will be this year. At least that person knows they're safe, they just have to pick the right group to go to.

Maybe they'll do it differently. Instead of having one contestant pick what group to go to, they'll take the last two and tell them "one of you will complete the bottom 3, the other is safe". "Go to the group you think you belong in".

It saddens me because on "So You Think You Can Dance" he seems so genuinely sweet and caring. I really love him on that show. I am so disappointed that it appears he is mean spirited for the sake of what he "thinks" makes good TV/buzz Maybe he has learned his lesson this time with there being soooo much bad press/talk about that whole incident. I am sure Ryan doesn't appreciate being seen as the "bad guy". I know I wouldn't.
