PostSubject: Re: American Idol   American Idol - Page 18 Icon_minitimeThu Apr 17, 2008 11:18 pm

The guy replacing him doesn't refer to his own self as a living legend who things his decisions go from God - to him - to the artist.

OK, I'm trying to bring over only FC-friendly recap stuff from my BFF Jacob at TwoP. Here goes:

Seven finalists. That means it's time for the annual "pick your group" screw-around? I hope they don't make Brooke do it because she might actually fall over dead. First up Jason sang "I Don't Want To Cry," which Randy didn't care for but Simon and Paula, correctly, loved. Jason is from Texas and hasn't done much beach or luau time. Although he was Cheyenne's boyfriend for a while. Jason starts one group.

David is very proud of his song and was overwhelmed by the amazing response, two things he should be. He was amazing in concept and pretty good in execution and I'm very proud of him too. He's Group Two.

Carly is wearing a cute high-waisted skirt, was cautioned not to hold herself back last night after "If Living Is Without You." She cannot agree. She tells Simon that he is being too hard on her, which is fucking asking for it. He tells her she has greatness potential and needs to be pushed. Which is his point for existing; I guess Carly didn't get the memo that she's in the Top Seven of the biggest show in history. I guess she needs just a little more encouragement. Fool. Carly joins Jason in Group One.

The Colonel babbles about whatever and is boring at all times. At least she's not piping up about how Mariah Carey is in love with her some more. I hope somebody told her how obnoxious that was. She joins her fellow Cook in Group Two.

Anyway, Syesha sang "Vanishing" awesomely, and only Simon was unhappy with it because it's a less-known song. Which I didn't know, because that's the only album I've ever heard, and it contains my favorite Mariah Carey song of all time, "All In Your Mind." That song makes me feel like a superspy, I love it so much. Anyway, Syesha was as good as usual, but way less off-putting, which is a good mix, even though she did kind of make it seem like Mariah Carey was lucky to meet her. She joins Carly and Jason.

Brooke next. Thank goodness they're putting Archuleta in the scary spot. They talk about the hamburger thing and as usual she makes no sense, saying she was working the vegetarian vote. She swears she was putting everything she had into it -- which isn't a lie. She just doesn't have much left. He sends her to the Cooks, and now all three of them look so, so sad. Ryan laughs about leaving Archuleta backstage over the commercial, and also Mariah is still singing. At least tell half of them they're safe first ... nope.

And then: is David Cook single? Yeah, he is. And he wants to be your boyfriend. He loves you. He wants to make passionate love to you. He asked me not to tell you, but yes. Your time is coming. Don't even bother leaving the house or forming actual relationships with other human beings, just go home and wait. He will be there at eight tonight. Wear something slutty.

Then Mariah sings a song about: grandmothers, childhood, regret, the importance of face-to-face communication, affection, um, moisturizing, timekeeping, difficulties, obstacles, the word "bye-bye" one hundred and eleven times in a row with hand movements, various numerals, the importance of spending holidays with loved ones, muscular and joint strength, pain assessment, the procession of the days of the week, wishing and screaming in a scary way, whistle-tones, insomnia, and the "bye-bye" thing again. I think the message either relates to the importance of making efforts to retain the exclusive company of those whose exclusive company you prefer, or regret regarding a past inability to do so, or both exhortation to do so while discussion past failures to do so. It is lovely.

and then they talk about how Randy proclaims her name constantly like Godot and then she talks crazy like she does. Ryan's tail is actually wagging. Aww, he loves divas so much.

Colonel, Syesha and Brooke. Syesha was the bestest, KLC is safe, so Brooke's obviously going home. And I would say "not a minute too soon" except it's about three weeks late in coming. I want her to go start her real life already because it's so painful watching her lose her shit every week. Paula -- who by the way is wearing a belt buckle, a chandelier, a big scarf and a giant flower around her neck all at once -- babbles, but Simon thinks Kristy's out. Really, Simon? She wasn't as good as last week but she's been getting better and better, and Brooke's been getting sadder and sadder. So then ...

BROOKE IS SAFE!

Do what? After last week I half expect Ryan to be like, "Psych!" And then pull out a gun and shoot them both on live TV, but no. The Colonel gets her singout and everything. There's a psychotic desperation in Brooke's eyes as KLC talks about how she's finally stopped talking about how much she sucks, and she and Ryan wish for her horse. Her video journey is mostly about how her deep voice gets higher and stupider each week of the show, which is interesting. I'll be sad to see her go, honestly. I made a lot of cracks and I don't think I was really wrong about her or her creepy black eyes, but she seems okay. I don't know if we'd be friends but it had definitely gotten to the place where I was looking forward to her singing each week.

But I guess it makes sense, in that she's the least professional one at this point. Like always. I always forget that it starts coming down at this point to straight-up polish: she's just not as put together as the rest of them. Which is a bummer but means Carly might fall before Brooke once again next week. Although if I'm right about the kind of total nerd she is, Broadway could be her secret weapon.

Does Jacob PROMISE that David Cook will come to my house??!! Because I'll be ready and waiting! Twisted Evil

Did Jacob leave out the part about DC and Syesha switching sides and Archie sitting on the floor? Or was that party too nasty?

I don't necessarily agree with him about Brooke's performances, but something has happened to her "emotionally". She seems a basket case lately. Why is she always near tears or in tears?

Yes, Clive does refer to him self as a living legend which is just flat out obnoxious! Mad

Sky, maybe I will try that but that is going to be a pain! I go to a TON of sites daily. Follow tons of links. I may just have to be content with the one amazing video I have! I'll just have to watch it *coughafewtimesadaycough*

If you want to download a really awesome video from last Tuesday's DC performance, this is the one!

From rickey.org today (plus there is video)

Quote :
Naomi Judd just confirmed our worst fears. She was on the Today Show yesterday morning, and was asked about American Idol and David Archuleta. She said that she loved David, but went out of her way to give a shout out to Jeff Archuleta to “leave David alone”. I think she was about to say “monster dad” but she said that Jeff Archuleta is like the “worst stage dad” and they had to put Jeff Archuleta in the security guard box — confirming earlier reports that Jeff Archuleta had to be restrained during Star Search for harassing contestants

And here is the rest of it:

Quote :

But not everyone agrees. Singer Diane Gordan, a friend and mentor to David, responded to Judd’s remarks, telling PEOPLE that Jeff Archuleta isn’t the bad guy that is being portrayed.

“There’s no way I would feel comfortable being around this man if I felt he was a bad person to his kid,” Gordon said. “Jeff is a very loving and supporting dad. It’s easy when you hear one person say something about someone, taking it and blowing it out of proportion, and then it just spirals out into a whole different story and keeps escalating.”

Just saying.

Oh God wouldn't it just be perfect?! For so many reasons! One - because he SO deserves it! So much more than Archie (no offense to the sweet kid intended at all) Two - because it did seem from day one that Archie was TCO and sooooo obviously going to win (and probably still will) Three - how cool it would be to have a rocker win! Four - because I would just be insanely happy for David C, his family and MEEEEEEEEEE!!!

But I just really hope and pray he makes final 2 so that he gets a contract for sure and so that I can see him as much as possible both on the show and on the day after shows!! Have I mentioned I just love him??! Laughing

I think, however, that now we've gotten a report from a "reputable" source about David's dad. I mean (and I'm NOT comparing the two) there are people who have great things to say about OJ. Also, if she's still working with David, it sounds like she's still on the payroll...

Cook will now be the TCO.

From your mouth to God's ears GE! I so want TCO to be my choice one of these years!

Like I said before, David's dad may be a huge dick, for David's sake I hope he is not, but I am just not going to go by gossip. Not saying that Ms. Judd is lying. I believe she saw things or she would not say them. She seems pretty much like a good egg. We just don't know how bad it really is or how much of it goes on. I would rather hear it from David. Until then I have no idea what their relationship is really like. I know there is some reality show on right now that shows some real difficult stage moms so sadly it is something that goes on a lot.

I'd be all about a Cookie/Jason final 2.

FWIW, if there is a "shocking boot" in the top 4 as there has been every odd season, it's more likely to be one of the Davids than anyone else. However, I have no doubt that both Davids are going to be signed no matter where they end up.

People, I hope y'all are not disappointed when it's a boy/girl finale. Every year since they've split the boys and girls, it's been boy/girl. Even though the guys are far and away better, one girl will hang on till the end. Probably Carly. Even if the next two weeks have women going and there's one woman and all the guys who are there now. I hope I'm wrong, but we've all been pretty much able to predict this show. Once Daughtry went before Katherine, I knew they wanted it boy/girl for the finale and I even kicked myself for being shocked about Daughtry.

Oh wait, I will have to watch because my DC will be on to perform with the group. I know, I will tape it and only watch the parts with DC, Michael, Jason and Brooke.
