| Good one Sky!
I've been reading several boards where people are scratching their heads over the OTT praise for Archie, especially the "crushing" the others comment from Simon. I honestly do not get that one Simon. Where I am reading more people didn't like "Love Me Tender". Many were creeped out having it sung to them from a boy who just turned 17.
On the other hand I read some comments from fans and one girl posted "I love the way he worked the stage!" Um, has Archie ever "worked the stage"? Wasn't he just sitting on a stool? Oh well, rose colored glasses and all.

I think he was on the stool for the Love Me Tender 2nd song. But his first song he was up and about. Has he ever worked the stage? He's worked it about as well as Carrie U did on season 4. Perhaps that is a major component of being a winner. Work the stage very little.

| Yes it was Sky. I think he hit the nail pretty good. Lau - why the spoiler?? I'm guessing you meant to "quote" it. For me Archie has just never really "worked it". Very nice voice, sweet kid, but for me no "IT" factor. JMHO. | |

Idol (Live) Redux: My Heart Goes Out to Jason Castro
Categories: american idol Last week, I thought I had it all figured out. If you're a preteen, you vote for David Archuleta. If you're a teenage girl, you love Jason Castro. And if you are a full-grown adult, you are all about David Cook.
But tonight, sitting in the live audience at Idol, I came to the realization that no matter who you are or what your age, when you hear David Archuleta in person, it is hard not to admit: He is so undeniably talented—with a voice so flawless and dynamic and pure, it actually resonates in your soul—that he probably most deserves to be the winner of this year's American Idol. (It would explain why he got the only full-audience standing O's of the night—and two of them, at that! He is that good.)
Still, here's the truly ridiculous thing you can clown me for (and I know many of you will): The 13-year-old girl in me weeps for Jason Castro.
Not because he has the strongest voice of the remaining four (he of all people will tell you he does not) and not because he deserves to win (he does not), but because Jason is so much better than that unfortunate catastrophic display we saw tonight, which would be a pretty bad exit. I can tell you that in rehearsal, the guy was good—really good. And so obviously, his nerves got the best of him, and now it will be a huge shock if J.C. doesn't get the boot tomorrow night.
Archuleta has a huge fan following (see: two standing O's). Ditto for Cook and rightfully so. (On the way out tonight, I nearly got run over by a shaking and crying fan who was screaming about David's "blue eyes" that "looked right at" her as she jumped up and down and called everyone she knew on her cell.) And Syesha Mercado seems to be getting stronger and stronger each and every week—not to mention, the heartfelt tears tonight will certainly win her a few extra votes.
And so, unless Simon's harsh words motivate a surprisingly large number of my fellow 13-year-old-girls-at-heart, it is probably time to say goodbye to this season's resident charming-but-awkward dreadlocked cutie. (In preparation, I will be listening over and over to my favorite Idol downloads so far this season—"Somewhere Over the Rainbow" and "Hallelujah"—and prepping for my eighth-grade geography test tomorrow.)
But let's be honest. It has to be David versus David in the end, right? They are both crazy good, and all the more impressive in person.
Who do you think most deserves to stay around another week? Feel free to vote and comment below.
American Idol Top Four Who was the best tonight? 44.1% David Archuleta 12.8% Jason Castro 31.9% David Cook 11.2% Syesha Mercado Results may be delayed by up to 120 seconds.

| Thanks for that Sky! I adore Kristin! Watch her all the time on E! I will agree that Archie probably sounds better in person because trust me, as great as Clay sounds on TV and on CD NOTHING prepares you for the power of that voice in person. Deborah Byrd did her radio call in this morning and when asked about Jason forgetting the words she said "that boy knew that song inside and out". She cannot imagine what happened to him. There are people on boards who think the humming was on purpose because he wants to go home. Just saying that is what some people think. Of course there are others who think he was high I will admit he has a way of coming across that way but I think that is just who he is. I actually hope he does go tonight because if he stays the media is going to turn him into the joke that Sanjaya and Johnny Red were and I would hate to see that happen. Or worse - the villain who stayed too long while the "better" singer were booted. | |

| Thanks for the links. They led me to this blog, which in the comments has this note: - Quote :
- I can't believe no one has commented yet on Castro mouthing "Don't Vote" when Seacrest was giving out his numbers after the first song! I had to rewind and watch a few times to make sure I wasn't going crazy!!!
Did that happen? | |

| OMG!! It's true!! After the first song when Ryan is giving out the numbers JC clearly mouths "DON'T VOTE"!! Lordy - he really does want to go home! Or at least he did after that song. I bet he did hum the words on purpose. | |

All night long he had that smile going, I just rewatched Tambourine Man, he was really good and I really think he threw the lyrics. He knew that song, he's Jason, he knows that song. The way he answered Simon about Marley? I thought he was so cute and he wanted to laugh. I love Jason and his attitude. We better start voting for DC, because I'm scared for him.

| START voting for DC????? Sky I have been voting the whole two hours for DC ever since Innocent. Have you only been voting for JC? Next two weeks you better vote for DC or we are going to have to watch Archie and Miss America in the finals!! Oh wait, no I won't because I will not watch that final 2. I'd rather schedule a root canal It would be less painful. I also just rewatched the second song and if he threw it on purpose he is a good actor. It did look like he just flubbed up. The Marley comment was funny. Yes, lots of smiles and laughing last night. Makes you wonder though, lots of people hide their pain with laughter. Maybe the poor boy is really miserable there right now. | |

We've all been voting for him, I was just 'coining a phrase'. Well, I've been splitting my votes. Maybe he didn't actually throw the lyrics, but he didn't seem to mind. He could almost think what the judges were going to do with it! I hope that song is his studio!

| No, what he was saying is "vote, vote".
I won't be watching the show anymore once Jason is eliminated unless he, Bo or Clay are on, but I'm going to find out what Archie's numbers are and throw him some votes just for having the guts to stand up for Jason last night.

| Really Badger? I've been hitting other boards and everyone thinks he is saying Don't Vote. I am going to watch a few more times. What did Archie do? I know from reading your posts at The CH that you like Archie anyway. Somehow I missed Archie saying something about Jason. Please tell us what he said. I guess the little girlies were texting like crazy because the ZabaSearch numbers put Archie ahead of Cookie. | |

| FC, do you have DC's "Dear Heaven"? It's listed here as a rare find....

When Archie was before the judges and they started in again about Jason, Archie said something like, he liked the song or he wasn't that bad.............very nice of him.

| According to a GS poster, he put a new message on either his Myspace or Facebook page last night asking people to vote for him so he can come home this weekend for the parade or else he won't be able to get back until after the summer. | |

| Thanks Sky! I know I brought a link of it here to listen too because I mentioned that I thought Aerwin would like it. I don't think I had found a download link before. They can put messages on their MySpace? I remember when Clay was on there was talk they weren't allowed to do things like that. Guess rules have changed. Well, it is too bad he didn't perform better last night so that he could get more votes. For someone who isn't already a big fan of Jason's those performances were not going to get people throwing votes his way. Where Syesha tears and Miss America speech probably did get her some votes. I always said Archie was a sweet kid. I'm sure all the other people involved with the show like Jason and feel bad for what he has been through the past week. Nobody wants to see their friends trashed on national television My issue with Archie has never been Archie. It has been the OTT praise and obvious pimping. He will win. Absolutely no doubt. I am sure the coronation song will be right up his alley. | |

Jason is absolutely someone I look forward to hearing from in the years ahead. But he was just sooooooooooooooooo not an AI type. I am glad I got introduced to him (much like Brooke) and I am glad he is out of there.

| He wanted to go. I really, genuinely think he did. He was not lying to EW. Somehow, that really makes it all right that he's gone, and I'm sorry I didn't stop voting for him sooner. Rockwall could have given him his party anyway, but now we have to wait.
I still hate the people at AI because they can do that to a good contestant.
