| I was thinking more about this while getting ready. They had no other choice with Josh because he would have been gone for a tour of duty - months. David C. only really needs the week for a funeral. It would be a double loss for his family. One son would lose his life and the other his chance at his dream. The more I think about it the more I think it would be horrible to make him leave until next year. Also, I have no idea if he would be tied to AI and not even allowed to accept offers during that year. No, I would be one upset person if they did that to him. | |

| Now I will have to go and check out this song. I know that this is David C.'s fave band. I am so happy that they have a song he likes that he can perform with this week's theme. - Quote :

On the David C thread someone posted that Our Lady Peace has reported that David Cook is performing their song "Innocent". ETA: Found it! It is a good song. There is a line about cancer in it, which I assume David C. relates too. You can hear/see it here. The lead singer is a hottie too! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zZ8jCZQUWGw

| I had never heard this song before..........David C. will do great with it!
I agree that IF anything should go wrong that David C. should just be given the week and no one goes home. That brings up the problem though of fitting into the schedule of the show, unless they let 2 go home in one show.

| Why is there so much talk on here about David C and a funeral? I went back and can't find anything...
I'm pretty certain that no one is going to be leaving this week - the votes will be totally with next weeks since its Give Back week.
I've never heard that Innocent song before. Very well done. That should work well for David C. - good one for his range.

| No Frazz, I cannot have you going "ick" in this thread Besides, I want you to like him. I do think Cookie is cute! But then I call my oldest son Boo Boo and my youngest Pumpkin so there you go Badger said that Nigel brought it up. To my knowledge David's brother is not in grave danger of dying - at least that is what he blogged. But if Nigel said something perhaps there is more to it than we know and Nigel is preparing. Yes, the schedule will be messed up. Maybe they could let two go or maybe they can rework the schedule. I just don't know. Usually by late May most things have gone to reruns or are close to it. Thursday night is an hour "results show". So I am guessing somebody goes. I don't know the reason for the Thursday results show if nobody is going home. They have the performances tonight, Idol gives back tomorrow night (which I read is now 2 and 1/2 hours ) and then an hour on Thursday. If nobody goes home that extra hour on Thursday will be a little too much Idol for me in one week | |

It's all Archie's fault. If it weren't for the Child Wonder, Cookie would just be David. Results are on Thursday.

| Yep, blame Archie! (now there is a nickname that makes me go ick because I think of an overweight balding bigot - even though I thought the show was a riot!) Am I bad because I am hoping that Archie is the shocking boot this year I want my Cooki, er, I mean David C. to win!!! And I fear this Archie kid is going to get in the way (I do like the kid, I just like 3 or 4 of the others better) | |

| I just visited AI website and found that schedule - didn't realize they were on so much this week. Wayyyy too much AI this week. I'll probably watch tonight and that will be it for me. Not enough there to hold my attention all those hours.
I have a feeling that David C is a nice enough guy that he wouldn't mind being called Cookie! Don't think it will matter if he wins or not - he'll be getting something in the way of promo, contract, etc.

| Hee. Actually, I always thought of Archie from the Archie comics. Yes, I agree that it's too bad this boy is slated to win. He's like, my sixth favorite. I will say this, though; I'd have been all about him in the horrific wasteland that was last year.
However, I do not fear that Archie might get in Cookie's way. I know he almost certainly will unless something drastic changes.

Well, alrighty then. I think frazz was just trying to say she really hates the nickname, no matter who's saying it. She was being funny. Wait. Frazz is NOT FUNNY. Nevermind. I personally think he would not like being called Cookie. It's a bit emasculating. When I think of "Archie" I think of "Sugar, Sugar" Archie. That's why I thought Michael was Archie. ETA: looks like Abrahammy and I are on te same page. I'm pretty sure Archuleta would be the shocking boot. Do you know Simon is STILL talking about boring Tamayra?

| Yes, sadly you are right. I am almost certain that Archie will win this thing. I have been since Top 24. Yes, he would have been my pick last year too no doubt and certainly in season 3 which was the worst IMHO. The thing is, if Simon is right and the finale comes down to the two Davids, you just KNOW which one is going to soar on that stupid coronation song Unless somehow they give David C. a rocking song. Archie's voice just has AI coronation song written ALL over it! Besides, I was just at Ricky's and Archie's Angels have broken the record for comments at his site. I think the texting tweenies are all over this kid. I hope you are right Lau (and I think you are) and David C. gets a deal ASAP like Daughtry did. This is the most excited musically I have been about an Idol. Clay - I've been all about the voice and the person. David C. I feel will put out an awesome CD! | |

| But, but she said she wouldn't like him if I called him Cookie and I want EVERYONE to like him!! I think Freddy from Scooby Doo is better for Michael because of the way he dresses. AND Freddy is the handsome one, and Michael has that in spades! Either Davids or Michael could be shocking boots. None of them have been bottom 3. The rest left have all been bottom three and have taken some heat from the judges. I'm not even sure if Micheal would be that shocking because I myself am just not seeing that much buzz about him on the boards I go to. It's the David's and Jason who generate the most posts. Though with Jason it is mostly "He is too pretty to go!" | |

| What is the theme tonight and who is the guest star? More decade years? I also hate the "Cookie" nick name. It makes me cringe. The "Archie" I can take or leave. It just smacks of Grandma nick names or something... I am with you Lau...no way can I stomach three nights in a row of AI..one is all I can do. | |

| Sounds to me like you guys were right. It's inspirational songs. I guess the prediction for Kristy was wrong, Thank God.
I see Syesha is kissing up to AI by singing a Fantasia song. I hope she manages to bend at the waist and bounce up and down and cry and get hysterical during the song, otherwise it just won't be the same.
I actually got an offer of priority tickets to the dress rehearsal for Idol Gives Back. Ever since I got the original tickets, they keep me on a list and email me for all AI-related shows. It's just...the parking and all the crap you have to go through just to get inside...oy.

| Jason fans will be THRILLED tonight! I don\'t think he will be leaving Thursday! Holy crap! Christy is singing her face off!! Best she has ever done!! Taking on Fantasia is DUMB!! The judges adore Fanty Syesha got just what I thought she would get. I think she may be toast on Thursday. I liked Micheal\'s Dream On. Archie probably just sealed the deal and won this thing. YAY! Paula loved David C. but the other judges didn\'t. So I will have to give all my votes to David C. Jason will be fine. I didn\'t like Carly\'s performance tonight. She just yelled at me GE, I so would have gone to IGB! Wish you had.

| All I can hope for is that Jason does the Judy Garland version of "Over the Rainbow", because I read on another board it was the Hawaiian version. I don't remember the Hawaiin singers name. I love that song, but not the Hawaiian version...... | |

| Sky, he does the Hawaiian version, but he does a fantastic job. I think doing the Judy version would have been a mistake because he does not have the voice for that. For me, that song - that version - belongs to Judy FOREVER. Nobody can touch her on that song. | |

| I remember going to see "That's Entertainment" which was a compilation of clips from MGM musicals when it first opened. There was a lot of cheering and yelling at every number until Judy's "Over The Rainbow". Dead silence for the entire song. Then it was on to another clip and the yelling and cheering commenced again.
Did you know that "Over The Rainbow" was nearly cut from The Wizard of Oz? The movie was running long and they thought it was too slow and draggy. However, in the end, they cut a song "The Jitterbug" which they thought might date the film too much.
Jason done good tonight! I thought Michael did well too, although I kind of agreed with Simon that it seemed almost like an impersonation than anything else. But it was sung well, and he's really the only male contestant left who has a real masculine grown-up sex appeal like Bo Bice had on the show.

| That's very cool about your experience at the movie. There is just something about SOTR and Judy. It is just an incredible moment of an incredible performer's career. I adore the song, but really only when Judy sings it. I hated Tamyra's performance of it on AI. Kim Locke did a pretty good job though. It is probably the only song I feel totally belongs to one person. I didn't know anything about a Jitterbug song Michael most certainly brings the sex appeal! But I think David C. is sexy too. | |

Yeah. Where you don't feel like a total perv for thinking he's sexy. Oh, Jason would have SLAUGHTERED OTR if he tried to sing it like Judy. They would have sent him home TONIGHT. If anyone would sing the Garland version, it would have been Archie. He's orobably the only one who wouldn't have sounded ridiculous singing it. I remember when a friend of mine first played me the Hawaiian verson. I couldn't believe it. Oh, one more thing: I spoke with a frined of mine tonight. She has a friend who's a singer/songwriter and she and this other guy wrote a song that they submitted to AI for the coronation song. It got in the top 20. I think there will be voting, so when I find out when the voting begins, I'll let you know and maybe you guys could vote for it!

Whew! There is another person/singer that has done "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" that I absulutely fell in love with and that was Sam Harris. He was a Star Search winner and he is/was adorable!!! I doubt whether any of you would know of him??? He is a cutie for sure!! Of course he is older now and still HOT!!

| That's so cool GE! Let us know and I will vote for it! I LOVE Sam Harris Sky! I have 2 of his LPs - I kid you not! I loved him in The Class and I was so bummed that the show was canceled I know he has had a lot of success on Broadway. I have his LP with his version of SOTR. I do think it is an excellent version of the song. A little OTT for many probably. GE is right. If Jason did Judy's version the judges would have ripped him a new one! He does not have anywhere near the vocals for that. Yes, Archie probably could have done it justice. If DI is right Christy's butt is going to the safe couch on Thursday. Well, voting is over here is Chicagoland so I am going to jump in the shower. I am worried for my boy. Sad for him because his song talks about a young girl with cancer and we all know about his involvement with that little girl with cancer. I think he wanted to do her proud. Of course I thought he looked like a total star from start to finish. It just was probably not the best song choice. I was disappointed with both my girls tonight as I thought that was Brooke's worst performance and Carly's worst. I just hope it is Syesha that goes home tomorrow. She is my least fave of the group that is left.
